Five of the Most Powerful Elements Anyone Can Use

Five of the Most Powerful Elements Anyone Can Use To Grow a Highly Responsive List

by: Laurence Baker

Lack of trust is the biggest problem marketers have on the internet, or better yet, the biggest opportunity.

The power in this lies in the fact that affiliate programs have given us easy access to a huge variety of products and services that we can present to potential buyers, opening up an endless number of possibilities.

And really, you’re not limited to affiliate products. Many businesses would be happy to compensate you for bringing them sales.

But too many people have no reason to believe that out of the multitude of marketing messages they see every day, yours is one they need to pay attention to. You have to provide them with something they’d have a hard time finding elsewhere.

Usually, the easiest, most effective, and most permanent way to first is to earn their trust that something theyกd have a hard time finding elsewhere.

Here’s the key thing you must remember…

Your readers can only benefit from you and you can only benefit from them to the extent that they can trust you!

These days, not many marketers handle this well. Not because they don’t know enough, or don’t have certain skills, itกs just that, their focus is in the wrong areas.

That’s where you come in. You can grab an early advantage, but marketers will always adapt. It’s part of the process. And when they do adapt, it won’t be as easy to stand out anymore.

Not only that, but the ones who don’t take advantage of this aren’t likely to survive. So the sooner you take advantage of this, the better.

Everyon(e) has the ability to earn trust, that is, if they’re worthy of it. By following these tips, you’ll put yourself in a position of influence with your subscribers… and that’s a powerful thing!

1) Keep your focus as narrow as it has to be for you to bring the most value. In other words, focus on those areas where you have something unique to contribute. What your readers will probably read elsewhere… let them read elsewhere.

2) Find ways to over deliver, exceeding people’s expectations. This creates the element of surprise. People will tend to remember this, and by association you. That means better recognition and more influence – a recipe guaranteed to make sales.

3) Make your subscribers feel like they know you. By doing this, you make it much easier for them to trust you. It’s like adding a third dimension to your marketing. It helps to complete the picture. And no matter how many people you write to, always use a personal, one on one type of style. It should sound like you’re talking directly to them.

Let yourself show through in your marketing, including your opinions, insights, stories, humor, etc. and your intentions will show through, whatever they might be. If that’s a bad thing, then you’re reading the wrong article.

4) Don’t try to please everyon(e). This is the biggest mistake you can make. You’ll forfeit anything interesting or unique about your marketing if you do this. In other words, you lose your edge and your marketing becomes ineffective. Don’t worry about the subscribers that drop off. You’re better off connecting with a smaller group on a deeper level.

5) Through your actions, you have to demonstrate to your subscribers that you don’t sacrifice their best interests in the name of profit. Become their trusted advisor. Do what you can to steer them in a direction that’s right for them, as individuals. Educate them to be able to make better decisions on their own.

These are powerful elements, and yet most marketers make compromises or loose sight of them because they see them as a conflict of interest with other profit seeking motives. The problem is, these things will lose their power when any one of them has been compromised. And earning the trust of your subscribers is never a conflict of interest.

The benefits of a responsive list are tremendous. To start with, youกll make more sales with more profit in each sale. Then, wordofmouth marketing, always the most effective method, becomes easy, and even more effective. You also put yourself in a position to sell bigger ticket items. Translation a lot more money from a lot less effort.

If you have a passion for or enjoy learning about the things that your market values, then developing the kinds of relationships you need to make these sales won’t seem like work at all.

All the while, you’ll be growing and becoming more influential.

All of these things will work together to build your influence at an exponential rate, and your incom(e) is sure to follow. Essentially, if you use your power wisely, you’ll continue to have more of it in the future.

And that’s for the long run, because these relationships will still be there no matter what might happen with your business in the future. In fact, these relationships really ARE your business.

Differentiate and Grow Rich: The Importance of a S

Differentiate and Grow Rich: The Importance of a Strong USP

by: Eric Graham

ขWith 50 other companies selling the same products and services, why should I do business with you rather than one of your competitors?ข

The number of competitors you face as an online merchant grows daily. If you can’t answer that one question, it’s only a matter of time before you go out of business.

If you can answer that question and answer it clearly, communicating it to your prospective customers in everything you do, your road to eCommerce success is paved with gold!

Your USP or Unique Selling Proposition answers that most critical question. If you have studied business for very long you’ve probably read or heard about the importance of having a strong, clear USP. However, it doesn’t take much surfing online to see that few companies listen. Most know that they need a USP, they just don’t know how to develop one.

The process of developing your Unique Selling Proposition is fairly simple (note that I didn’t say easy.) I conduct intensive onsite USP development workshops for my clients around the world. By doing these workshops I’ve discovered 4 critical steps to developing your USP.

First, study your competition. Search online for potential competitors. Pick the top 5 to 10 and try to determine their USP. Most will lack a clear USP, for these look for some of the features or services that they stress.

Now look for the gap in their products or services. What area of the market could we better service?

Second, examine you own business. Sit down and brainstorm with your staff possible USP concepts. Don’t judge the ideas, just write them down. To stimulate thought and ideas ask the following questions:

What do we do the best?

What do we do better than our competition?

What awards have we won?

What do our customers say about us?

What praise do we often get from our customers?

What celebrities or well know organizations endorse us? What endorsements could we get?

What does our product or service do better than anyone else?

What makes our business model different from our competition? How could we make it different?

What market category or niche could our industry better service?

It also helps at this stage to interview and survey your current and past customers. Ask them why they bought from you rather than your competition? What do they want from a provider of your product or service? What’s important to them when making a buying decision? What feature or benefits do they value most or would like to see added to your product or service?

Third, begin to write down and crystallize your ideas. Don’t worry about length at first, just write down the key points of your USP concept. Focus on the benefits to your customer of each concept. Develop a list of 5 to 10 possible USPs.

Show this list to your staff, friends, family and current customers. Get their input and suggestions and use these suggestions and comments to narrow your USP concept down to a single main differentiating concept.

Once you’ve settled on the most unique and compelling feature of your product or business, begin to distill it down to one paragraph that clearly communicates and sums up why your customers should buy from you. Use this paragraph on your website or in your print marketing materials where you have more room to explain the unique benefits that you bring to your customers. However, it’s still too long to for an effective tag line or slogan.

You still need to distill your USP down to one or two focused sentences that clearly and concisely communicate the benefits of your USP to your customers. This statement should leave no question in your customers mind about what you do and what makes you different than your competition.

This USP statement will become your tagline or slogan. This process will take some time and your USP statement may require several revisions before you’re comfortable with the final draft.

Fourth, integrate your USP statement into everything you do. Put it on every page of your website, on your letterhead, in all of your advertising and marketing. Communicate it to your employees, managers and staff. Let it infuse into your corporate culture. Every time you talk to your customers, employees or suppliers you should mention this USP. You cannot just give lip service to your USP, you must live it and breath it! It must become a part of you.

Every product, business or service needs a USP that will make it stand out from the competition. It’s up to you to discover or create this element of uniqueness. Differentiate yourself, your business and your products from your competition and watch your profits soar!

by: Dan Brown

1. Your niche could be that you offer free delivery. This may cost a little money, but, you will gain the extra customers to make up for it.

2. Your niche could be that you offer a lower price. If you can’t afford to offer a lower price you could always hold the occasional discount sale.

3. Your niche could be that your product achieves results faster. This niche is very effective because people are becoming more and more impatient and want results fast.

4. Your niche could be youกve been in business for a longer period of time. People think if youกve been in business longer you have more credibility.

5. Your niche could be that your product tastes, smells sounds, looks, or feels better. When you target the the senses you’re triggering basic human attractions.

6. Your niche could be your product is light or compact. People may want to take the product on a trip or don’t have much room where they live.

7. Your niche could be that youกve won a business reward. When you win a reward tell your customers or visitors about it. This increases their trust in your business.

8. Your niche could be that your product lasts longer. People don’t like taking the time and spending more money buying replacement products all the time.

9. Your niche could be that your product is easy to use. People don’t want to buy a product that they have to read a 200 page hardtounderstand instruction manual.

10. You niche could be that your product has better safety features. People want to feel safe when they use your products.

11. Your niche could be that your product was made by hand. Most people believe that products made by hand have better quality.

Make Quality Content Your #1 Priority

Make Quality Content Your #1 Priority

by: John Tulus

It is by now a proven fact that content is the most important element for getting better pagerank and, consequently, more traffic.

Furthermore, the best ranking websites have content that is better written than most other sites.

A common mistake is to think that Google spiders just consider keywords and layout in order to establish pagerank.

If you look at the top ranking pages for the most searched for keywords, you will see that the quality of the content has been essential for getting them better pagerank, not to mention the enormous amount of traffic that Google sends them as a consequence.

Let’s look at some of the key areas that we have to keep in mind when producing content:

1. Updates

If you don’t update your content frequently, your visitors won’t have a reason to come back, and Google will not consider your site for better pagerank. You may get a good initial pagerank, but if Google doesn’t see that the site is updated frequently, pagerank will surely fall as a consequence. The best frequency is once a week, when possible.

2. Grammar and spelling

Sites that are well ranked in Google have little or no spelling and grammar errors. Before uploading content, make sure to check for spelling and grammar mistakes. Microsoft Word’s spellcheck may even be more than enough for this task.

3. Paragraph layout

Not only on websites, but in any type of message that implies text, lengthy paragraphs are difficult to read and readers loose focus on the content. Google is also aware of this fact and prioritizes short 1 to 4 sentence paragraphs.

The same applies to sentence length. Keep sentences brief and to the point with only relevant information. If there is an extensive idea that must be included, you can break it up into two or more sentences.

4. Keywords

On well ranked sites, references are made throughout a page to keywords and variations of the keywords. Always keep content relevant to the keywords that are referenced to your site.

5. Lists

Whenever presenting lists of items, it is better to show them bulleted or numbered and not in paragraph format. This is visually much better for your visitors and Google will also give it better pagerank. For example, see the difference with the text from this section in both formats:

Example 1 – Paragraph format:

When creating content, keep in mind updates, grammar and spelling, paragraph layout, keywords, and lists.

Example 2 – Numbered

When creating content, keep in mind:

Updates

Grammar and spelling

Paragraph layout

Keywords

Lists.

Some final thoughts:

Always make sure that you have quality content on your site.

If you write your own content, try to have an editor or a professional writer look at it before uploading, until you gradually develop your own writing skills.

Make sure you update your content frequently.

Distribute some of your content freely to other websites. This will generate more links to your site and improve your pagerank as well.

If you don’t have writing skills and aren’t willing to pay a professional writer to continuously create content for you, you can opt to acquire content databases that will provide you with extensive content that you can update regularly.

Once you have your site up and running, focus on content from then on. The design and layout of your site may be a one time only process, but content needs to be taken care of and nurtured to generate traffic and keep those visitors coming back for more.

There Is Hidden a กSuccessful Formulaก In Everythi

There Is Hidden a กSuccessful Formulaก In Everything

by: Karl Smith

Although many say that things change on the net, still what worked before keeps working.

Let me give you an example: If you have a PC and you do not know how to use it, you need to learn how. You go and learn the tactics and you will successfully switch on the PC.

I mean you need to know how to use the advertising techniques. You have to see what works best for you? Which do you prefer? Start pages or safe lists. Itกs better to use the tool you prefer. This will make it more fun and you are likely to use it better.

There is a proven formula to market with safe lists. However 99% do not use it… Yet it has worked for those who use it. You need to know that there are millions of people using safe lists. Do you know that millions mean more than something?

If you follow a proven, easytofollow tactic you will succeed with safe list. Using less effort and getting better results. You can be successful in everything, but you must know the right formula. You will realize that the right formula is also the easiest and fastest…

Try analyzing a program you use. You will find that there is something better you can do. There is a great formula you are not using.

Many people use start pages, yet 50% doesn’t know that there exists a simple formula. You need to use กsplash, eye capturing pagesก and not sales pages in start pages. It is very common to see sales pages in start pages, which means that the owner did not figure out that there is a better formula to market with start pages.

Try figuring out what formulas you can use to make your advertising techniques successfully work.

Google is Quickly Changing…

Google is Quickly Changing…

by: Martin Lemieux

Google is quickly changing…

With the big buzz of Novembers fall within Google comes a newly indexed database…

Did Google do something bad to our great placements? No I don’t think so and hereกs why.

While people are screaming for help and wondering what went wrong, Iกve noticed a MASSIVE shift in page ranking.

If you look at top placements at the moment, according to Scroogle, most of the ecommerce search terms got hit really hard. A lot of the top 100 placements were vanishing and quickly.

Now on the other hand, less impressive and especially smaller ranking sites have been bumped up top. I firmly believe this is all because of Googleกs ‘refreshingก their memory and possibly starting to take on web site IDกs with 5 characters plus.

What I mean by that is the ability for Google to index more than 3.2 Billion web sites. Adding another character to the already large 4Idกs deticated to each site indexed will allow Google to add a whole other list of sites within their database.

Now I could be wrong on that one but hereกs another phenomenon going on. Iกve been talking to other ecommerce web sites and helping them gain better rankings. Itกs been a while since theyกve had their Page Rank change within their site. Working real hard as I instructed, they have followed all the rules and attempted to boost their page ranks.

Up until now, nothing has changed and people are loosing their ranks within Google since Novembers algorythim change.

Around a week ago Iกve been getting calls left right and center about page ranks boosting like I’ve never seen.

The previous scare before this November change went something like this. Google stopped indexing more than 3 levels within your site. Ex. www.yoursite.com/level1/level2/level3

I affirm to you this: its pure baloney, more sites now have better PR ratings within their entire site than ever before. I believe that Google is rewarding most great resources online before taking on more listings within their index.

As towards se placements, I also took a major hit for my better search engine placements but a couple of days ago that started to all change. It almost seems as though Google wanted to take out the top placement companies in order to thoroughly crawl through all their information before letting them get back in the game.

I say this because one of my top placements was sitting at #1 for a long time. Since this November change, it immediately dropped to #181 and didn’t move one single number for over 3 weeks. To my knowledge, thatกs a little strange. All of a sudden, my site stats recorded Google browsing through all my 600+ pages and presto, my site is back in the game, just like that.

In Conclusion:

It seems to me that we’re all just lined up to sign an application for better search engine placements. The question isn’t if your site will get back in shape, itกs a question of when your number will be called.

Have a little faith and a little patience and you too will rise again! Just keep doing what youกve been doing all along and don’t worry about falling down. The ones who get back up are always the ones on top in the end.

Creating A Web Page That Sells A Look At Graphic

Creating A Web Page That Sells A Look At Graphics and Copywriting

by: Patrick Mahoney

This is a response to a client that we have been working with, and a website they are building that will sell an eBook on กHair Styling Tipsก. We thought the information was important and relevant enough to include in this months newsletter.

==CREATING A WEBSITE THAT SELLS==

The website that weกll be dealing with sells an eBook based on hair styling tips, but these concepts should translate very easily into any website that sells a product or service.

In this article, we touch on subjects such as:

The use of graphics on a web page

Copywriting insights

Web Page Headlines

Benefits, not features

And more.

Our hope and desire is that you find this article of value, and that you find thoughts and ideas you can put to use in your own online business.

Let us begin…

==COPYWRITING SUGGESTIONS==

Copywriting is probably one of the most misunderstood elements of marketing, and I am not going to claim I know it all. Website copywriting is more than just your typical กonelinersก that we see so much in todayกs Internet marketing arena.

Iกve learned a couple of lessons over the past few years that are usually pretty tough for people to get ahold of, and most of them I have learned from my beautiful wife Marsha.

My wife Marsha has been a hair stylist for over 22 years, and for more then 18 of those years has managed one of the largest hair styling salons here in Ohio.

Iกve learned more about advertising from her then I ever have from any Internet guru, although thatกs not to say we cannot learn from them. กInternet guruกs that isก

Here are our suggestions for the copywriting on your web page.

The first thing to understand is:

People/Customers only care about themselves.

At first, at least until the customer gets to know you a little better, they are only concerned about one thing, and that is กwhats in it for meก.

Think about these thoughts for a moment:

I want to feel better

I want to look better

I want people attracted to me

I want more money

I want to be accepted

And there are many more thoughts that run through our minds as human beings everyday. They are all natural thoughts, feelings, and emotions, and everybody has them, although some may not admit to it.

Also, we must understand why people buy things. Do we as shoppers buy what is needed in life, or do we buy what makes us feel good, look better, feel happier, etc?

If we think about this for awhile, and think about it with honesty, we will find that 98% of the time that we are buying something, itกs because we think that it will make us feel good, be happier, or look better in some way.

With that being said, now we can ask ourselves what is it about our copy that presents something to our customers that will benefit them in some way?

If I am selling a book on ‘tips for quick and easy hair styling solutionsก, then I am going to put myself in my customers shoes, and ask what is it that is going to catch my attention?

If I write something like the following:

Hello, my name is Marsha, and Iกve been a hair stylist for more then 20 years now, and I guess you could say, I know a little something when it comes to hair styling.

And I would continue on here with more about what I know, etc.

As a potential customer, would you really care to read anymore? Most likely not.

But, what if I were to write the following:

Give me just 5 minutes, and Iกll show you 5 simple tips you can use to have the most beautiful, full bodied hair youกve ever seen… And Iกll teach you how to do it in as little as 7 minutes a day.

or how about this one…

Imagine, you wake up in the morning, wash your hair, and just 7 minutes later youกve got the most full bodied, beautiful hair youกve ever seen… Warning, don’t be surprised when you get more attention at the office today.

And there are many more ideas, but the bottom line is, what one of these would grab your attention, and make you want to read more?

When writing anything on your website, always think กcustomer BENEFITSก.

Again, we can help more in these areas if you want them, but the greatest single gift we can give you to help convert visitors to sales is to teach you to sell benefits, not features.

==WEBSITE GRAPHICS SUGGESTIONS==

Graphics on websites are a heavily debated issue, although we feel very strongly that they shouldn’t be, and hereกs why.

It all depends on what your selling or trying to sell.

Internet marketing information based products do not need all of the graphical content as would a company trying to sell a new video game for the Play Station, Game Boy, or any of the game boxes available.

These types of customers want to see what they’re buying before they shell out $50 or more for that กnext big gameก.

Internet marketers are looking for usable information on how to market their businesses online. They typically do not need the graphic intensive website design that a game company would.

BUT, we also have to remember that just because we may not classify ourselves as a ‘typicalก Internet marketer, we are never the less marketing our products on the Internet, whether or not they are PC games, Internet marketing information products, or how to best style your hair.

With that being said, what we need to find is a กmiddleก ground that will lend itself to our products and services.

Back to our hair style website idea, I would recommend the following, which we feel will lend itself greatly to enhancing the กoverallก effect, and would help increase sales of your product.

Suggestions:

1) Thinking back to our กCopywritingก insights, and the natural human emotion of wanting to look better or feel that we are กattractiveก, it would play in nicely to have a few pictures of very attractive people peppered throughout the website or sales page.

We would suggest that these images would lend themselves to the content at very precise moments, and help add กeffectก to what is being stated.

Example:

If your explaining how they will learn that they can have better, more natural, fullbodied hair, then you might want to add a small, but very clear image of a beautiful woman throwing her hair back. This image would be of a woman with กfullbodiedก hair, and of medium length.

Focus on a picture that you, yourself may feel deeply inside that กIกd sure love hair like thatก. You need to find that กemotionalก moment, and then use it to your copywritingกs advantage.

2) It has been shown that by adding a 3D graphical image of your book or eBook can increase sales by as much as 300% and more.

It has been found that this gives the potential customers กsubconsciousก mind something to hold on to and feel.

‘touchก

Touch is something that we as marketers lack greatly on the Internet, and we see no such abilities of this in our foreseeable future.

The only option we have at this point are graphics, and images, along with sound.

We know that graphics and images, along with proper copywriting skills can sell a lot of products. We know this to be fact for the simple reason that we witness this type of content everyday, all day through TV commercials.

How do we know this to be fact?

No one would spend the billions of dollars they do, each year, creating TV commercials if they did not increase the sales of their products.

Example:

Without mentioning a name, have you seen the TV commercials where the women who wash their hair with a certain hair care product, seem to be in Ecstasy?

OOohh, AAaahhh, Oh Yes, Yes, YES!!!

Sound familiar?

And do we honestly believe, that if those commercials did not increase sales of that product, that this company would really spend the millions of dollars a year they spend for them?

Of course not. Spending with no return on investment is the fast way to kill a company.

==FINAL THOUGHTS==

There are many more areas that will help create and generate more sales from a website, and we have hardly scratched the surface here.

But, you should be able to pull out the beginnings of a very good start at creating a website that can generate revenue very early on.

We must come to understand, that although there may be ideas, and thoughts that seem foreign to us, and some may even feel uncomfortable, if we want to create sales, we will have to overcome some of those boundaries within ourselves.

==IN CLOSING==

Whatever you decide to do, one thing to remember is, itกs one thing to focus on benefits, and peoples emotions, but a completely different thing to lie.

We never suggest lying to customers.

If a product cannot produce the results that the sales page says it can, then the sales page needs to be changed to fit the product.

If not, customers will not be happy, it can ruin a business, and people who do it can get into more trouble then it has ever been worth.

Focus on benefits in your sales copy, a website that is fresh and new (not a lookalike), build brand awareness, and customer service, and you will have the beginnings of a great website, and online business.

Now stay with me for just a minute.

Think about the last time you bought a magazine? Why did you buy it? Was it to look better, fee better, make money, save money, make your house look better, take a step toward achieving a dream in your life?

How about the last time you purchased an ebook about marketing? It wasn’t the desire to learn more about marketing that led to open your wallet, it was the DESIRE to discover something unique, something new that would RESULT in more more money in your pocket resulting in you being able to finally quit you job.

OK, thatกs more like it. Itกs all about the end result you want to get not about the steps, processes, formula or information to get you there.

Information is a tool a method of achieving an end.

Itกs up to you to determine what that END result is and continue to help your market achieve that end, without fail.

Now, letกs look at how this can help you achieve YOUR goals…

A NEW Way Of Researching Your Market

You will hear from many online marketing experts that the important part of researching your market is WHERE you look.

Nice try but thatกs NOT the whole story.

The real secret is How you research your market.

For instance, take a look at the headlines over at one of my sites:

http://www.infoproductcreator.com

Now, Iกve tested over 20 headlines on this page before finding this one that coverts at least 3X better than earlier versions.

The market for this product is aspiring online entrepreneurs, writers, consultants and speakers who are already considering writing infoproducts to achieve more freedom, control and security in their lives.

So why does this page work?

First, this market is time constrained. They are struggling as much with lack of time freedom as they are with lack of financial freedom. Many of them have lost control in their lives, are too dependent on one income stream and WANT to quickly solve this problem.

Second, this market feels they have something to share and WANT to know how to do that they WANT the prestige and กfameก that comes from releasing their own ebook or book.

Try reading the headline (both main heading and subheading).

Can you now see the main emotional กcuesก that lead to the market triggers I outline above.

Another Example

Letกs try another market entirely!

Head over to:

Sit, Stay, Fetch right here:

http://hop.clickbank.net/?ideaguide/sitstay

What do you think is the biggest reason dog owners end up paying for obedience training?

The answer is in the headline. What dog owners WANT is a way to stop behaviour problems in their dogs. Why? Embarassment, fear of someone getting hurt, pain of having to consider giving up their beloved pet all lead to a RABID desire for dog training.

Bottom Line Think DESIRE

Will you do this for me?

Spend the next week looking at everything in terms of underlying desire.

When you read the newspaper, speak with a collegue, watch TV, go to a movie, speak with your spouse or your kids, read websites, review ads, etc… think about the underlying desire. Why does that communication exist as it does.

Carry a journal and quickly write down each event with itกs corresponding, underlying desire.

IF you follow this exercise, youกll not only be amazed at what you come up with for กnormalก daily communication, you will have started down the path of thinking like the highest achieving business people of all time. Not bad for a weekกs effort?

Itกs Better When They Tell Them

Itกs Better When They Tell Them

by: Denise OกBerry

You know that word of mouth can grow your business. You hear your customers say nice things about your company all the time. So why don’t they tell people? And, why don’t they write it down?

Because you don’t ask.

Your customers are busy people. They don’t think about your business day in and day out like you do.

Testimonials don’t have to be written in a formal letter. Youกll often get more usable comments when they aren’t. Sound bites that pack a punch can go much further in building credibility for your company.

When you hear someone say something nice about your company, write it down. Ask them if you can quote them and use it in your promotional materials. Itกs better for your business when your current customers tell your future customers about how great you are.

Awards Program Debate

Awards Program Debate

by: Richard Lowe, Jr.

Daily article:
One of the most debated subject among webmasters is the whole concept of web site awards. Iกm sure youกve seen the little graphics on many different sites, announcing it is the "best", "coolest" or "most wonderful" or whatever. Sometimes youกll see terms like "bronze", "gold" and "silver" to describe the award.
Whatกs the debate about? To put it briefly, are web site awards worth the "paper they are printed on?"
"Whatกs the point?", some webmasters will say with a smirk (the smirk always seems to be there, oddly enough). "Whereกs the money in awards? These are just graphics that anyone can make up, they are given out by the boatload and they do not prove anything."
Au contraire. I beg to differ. Winning an award can be one of the most fulfilling achievements that a webmaster can experience. Yeah, some of the awards are given away by autoresponder (and these, I agree, are worthless), but others are very, very difficult to earn.
You see, the point is that in a true awards program you are getting a peer (another webmaster) to review your site against a set of criteria. You have to work to win some of the better ones, and the very best require an incredible effort.
But who wants a peer review anyway? I mean, isn’t the real payoff in dollars or number of visitors or hits or whatever? Why would anyone care about the opinion of another webmaster?
Thatกs easy. You see, web sites can always be made better. It does not matter how good of a job youกve done, if you stand back and look at your accomplishment objectively, you will find something to improve. What awards programs do is speed up this process.
You begin by reading the criteria of the award. One common requirement is fast load time. You check your site and find the main page loads in 5 minutes … and thus you will not win the award. Okay, so you fix that and check the next item. Hmm. Clean navigation … fixed that, whatกs next? Readable text perhaps, or good content, or simply a way to turn off the background music. You see whatกs happening. You want that award so you MUST improve your site to achieve it. You have to spend a little more time checking it out, so that when your site is examined you will earn the prize.
What does that buy you? A better web site will translate into more visitors who come back more often, and if you are selling something, they may buy it.
So before you turn up your nose at that pretty awards graphic, read the criteria. See what the webmaster had to do before he earned that picture. If the criteria says "just take it and display it" … the award is useless. On the other hand, if it states some stringent rules, then perhaps you should be impressed … and maybe see if you own site measures up.

5 Tips For Better Management Of Home Business

5 Tips For Better Management Of Home Business

by: Arun Pal Singh

Home business on the net offers an opportunity to earn a lot of money. But like any other business it demands a constant input.

A better execution of efforts would bring better results.

Inculcating a professional approach and attitude would take you to the success at a real pace.

1. Be your real boss:

Being your own boss is very lucrative but the responsibility of making it success is also with you.

The very boss in your regular job (who is hated more than often) does a lot of work for you. Be it disciplining or producing the necessary motivation for the required results.

This is your business now. You are your own boss. Nobody else will share the responsibility (for that matter credit of success will also be yours only). So be a boss really.

Don’t fall into leisure trap otherwise time will fly and you will find yourself without any progress.

When you are in business, business is the top priority. You are at home for work and not for relaxation.

It is not just home anymore. It is your office too.

2. Grasp your business, Stay put:

Be clear in what you are doing and why are you doing. Grasp the concepts of tools you need to use.

Understand where you are in your business.

Growth of a business is exponential. That implies that in early part the curve is almost flat before it rises steeply. Don’t let that flat part discourage you.

Keep working, the bang will be there.

Stay put. Success will come.

3. Organize your business:

Set your goals. Accomplish your daily list of work. A small step everyday would take you to the destination.

Contrary to the perception home business requires efforts. And more so in the early phase.

Yes, the success is sooner on the net but it is not instant.

Schedule your work. Better if you can make a time table. It helps to maintain discipline.

Find you peak efficiency hours. It could be early morning or late night. Devote with full concentration.

4. Keep yourself motivated:

Encourage yourself regularly (remember your boss who used to do this!).

Read motivational books. Get inspired. Think positively. Keep the fire inside you burning.

It is a good idea to learn the success stories of people who have made it. A good source is IAHBE . It offers you numerous success stories of people who started like us. One gets a great inspirational boost.

5. Maintain a good health:

Last but not the least keep a good mind and body.

As you work from home you don’t have privilege of interaction with your colleagues as in regular job.It gets boring sometimes.

Join a health club. Shape yourself up. It will increase you efficiency too. Take breaks frequently. Enjoy your hobbies.Entertain yourself.

Finally, this is your baby. You can groom it in any way you want.

Some time later you can be a proud father.

That will be the time when you will look back, smile and pronounce ‘I did it’.

Till then keep working.Wish you success.
