Creative Ways To Make Money With eBooks

Creative Ways To Make Money With eBooks

by: Jeremy Gislason

How creative are you when it comes to making money and increasing your subscribers using ebooks or other digital products?

Here are some tips on how to increase your profits with ebooks.

You could show your prospects a sample page out of your ebook. This will make your prospects curious to buy. You could even give away a free version of the ebook and then give people an option of buying the paid version. Also let others give away the free version of your ebook.

You could divide your ebook content into reports then give people the option of just purchasing the info they want. Or you could charge people a low price to read half of your ebook. If they like it, they can pay full price to read the other half.

You could also earn extra profits from selling monthly updates of your ebook. You could also back end sell the extra never released chapters of your ebook.

You could redesign your ebook for specific niches. You can create multiple profits with very little work. Ex: Turn a business ebook into a craft business ebook. You could then divide your ebook into online newsletter issues. You could charge a reoccurring monthly subscription for people to view each issue.

You could give your prospects discount coupons on other products when they purchase your ebook. It could be your products or others that you made deals with. You could also offer freebies that are related to the ebook your selling. It could be free monthly ebook updates, free ezine, free consulting, etc.

You could offer the reprint rights to your ebook. You can sell the rights with the regular purchase price or as a separate higher price.

You could make your ebook available for offline people. Your could turn it into a print book, report, video, audio book, print newsletter, etc.

But many people agree that one of the best way to increase your profits and sales is to bundle many products or services together into one package. You could purchase reprint rights to other peopleกs ebooks an combine them with your in a large package deal or private ebook library web site.

This gives people more reasons to buy your products and services. People also have come to believe package deals are a better value. You want all the products or services to be closely related. For example: if you’re selling a computer you could add in software, hardware, computer furniture, etc.

There are many ways to go about choosing the right products or services to bundle into one package. You could survey your customers and see what products or services they would like you to offer in the future. Spy on your competition and see what products and services they’re offering or not offering. If you would like to, bundle unrelated products or services together, ask your customers which ones would be of interest to them.

Bundling can also increase your target markets which in return would give you a larger audience to sell your products and services. For example: if you’re selling a baseball magazine you could add a free baseball when someone buys a subscription. You’re now targeting people who want the baseball magazine and those that want to play baseball out in the yard. Some people buy a package deal just to get one of the products.

There are many sources where you can find products and services to create a package deal. You can buy them from wholesalers or drop shippers. You can buy the reproduction/resell rights to other peopleกs products. Teamup with your competition to create a package deal. You could joint venture or cross promotion deal with other businesses. You could also create your own products and services. Be creative!

Free Or Not Free Itกs Your Choice

Free Or Not Free Itกs Your Choice

by: Randy Justason

The internet is one of the worldกs top sources of information, products and just about anything else you could possibly want. And, if you have spent any amount of time online, you must have noticed that much of it is free.

Many home business entrepreneurs get their start online using some of these free resources. In fact, some of them use freebees almost exclusively.

So, just what are these valuable assets that attract so many home business newbies? Here are just a few:

Email one can get free email accounts just about anywhere (MSN Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, Google GMail, Lycos) plus tons of others. Actually, free email accounts can be very useful, but thatกs another article.

Autoresponders there are many free autoresponders (getresponse, and freeautobot, just to name a few). Some are better than others but they are a useful tool.

EBooks You can get free ebooks just about anywhere. These can prove very valuable as giveaways to get people to do some sort of action, like join your mailing list.

Web Space Free web space abounds throughout the internet. Most likely, the ISP you signed up with offers web space for free for you to put up your own personal web site. You can also get free space at places like Yahoo Geocities, Tripod, Bravenet, plus tons of others.

And the list goes on. However, today I would like to talk about Web Space. Free Or Not Free, Itกs Your Choice.

Many home business entrepreneurs, when first starting out, want to keep expenses to a minimum (I did this myself). Therefore, just after we join one or two affiliate programs and find out that we can’t get the affiliate web page into the search engines (because there are probably 5 million affiliates with exactly the same page) we want to build our own site.

Having your own web site is probably one of the most important steps you can take to get your home business off to a fast start. Taking the time to find a good web host should be equally as important.

Read that last line again.

Why do I say that? Just think about this.

You have just spent the past two months learning html or how to use a program like FontPage to build your web site. Youกve been writing your web pages, putting in images and links to your affiliate web page and maybe even have made a few forms to get people to sign up for your own newsletter.

All is well and good so far, because itกs still on your computer.

So now you go to find a place that will กhostก your site. And, being the money conscious person that you are, you look for some place free. Your internet service provider will give you probably 5 megs of space but will only let you put up a personal site.

So you decide to give another place a try. Bingo, youกve found lots of places that will let you have space on their servers for free as long as they can put a banner ad on your web pages. A small price to pay you say and go ahead and sign up.

Great, now you have your own web site up and running, itกs a little slow loading because of the banner ad but you decide that is OK. Now, in order to get your site closer to the top of your category in the search engines you decide to start doing link exchanges. Very good, it shows you have been doing your homework.

Now itกs 4 or 5 months later and your site is on page 5 of the search results, people are joining your downline and signing up for your newsletter. What a wonderful thing this internet is.

One day you decide to log into your hosting account and change a few things on your site. But, whatกs up, you can’t log in. You then decide to go to the search engine and type in the url of your site. Nothing! Error, the page you are looking for is not available!!!

Just like that, itกs all gone. All your hard work, your only means of getting affiliate signups and newsletter optins has disappeared. Whatกs up you ask your web host and they tell you that they have changed their policy and no longer offer free web space. You’re back to square one.

Think it can’t happen? Think again. It happened to me.

Thatกs right, all my web pages, articles, newsletter archives, classified ads, everything gone. And, to make things worse, I have been making changes to the site at the control panel of the web host and therefore didn’t even have a recent copy of most of the pages on my computer. We live and learn!

Had I known all along how inexpensive it is to get good web hosting service I would never have gone the free route. To make a long story short, for less than $5.00 per month you can get excellent web hosting services.

I won’t make that mistake again, will you?

Why Laptops are Different than Desktops

Why Laptops are Different than Desktops

by: Bonnie Archer

Laptops are different from desktops in the these ways;

1. Power supply: As desktops can be plugged in an outlet in the wall (AC Power) so can laptops with an AC adapter. But how a laptop is different from a desktop is that it is portable because batteries can also power laptops. The batteries are rechargeable; lithium, nickelcadmium, or nickelmetal hydride.

2. Display: Also like desktops, laptops have some type of LCD display screen. Modern Laptops have 800 x 600 pixel resolution. This gives it a very clear screen and anything less should be avoided.

3. Input Devices: On a desktop computer you usually use a mouse and keyboard to enter data and navigate. With laptops keyboards are built in but since they are portable so they don’t have a mouse. Instead they have one of three input devices in place of the mouse. A trackball, rotating the ball allows you to move the cursor. A trackpoint allows you to push your finger over the point to move the cursor. Lastly, a laptop may have a touchpad that you move your finger across to move the cursor.

4. Docking Connections: Many laptops come with a docking connection to make it more comfortable to use at a desk. You just plug your laptop in and use it as a desktop. The docking station comes with many peripheral devices: full size computer monitor, full size keyboard and mouse, disk drives and printer.

Seven Red Hot Tips for Linking

Seven Red Hot Tips for Linking

by: Gareth Davies

1. Vary the keywords in your link ‘anchor’ text

Unless you provide only one product or service the chances are you will want to rank for many key phrases. One way to help achieve this objective is to change the link text you want all new sites to use periodically. Vary the anchor text slightly each time and by doing so you can cover more of your targeted key phrases. This approach can help your site rank for many keywords rather than just one or two.

If you do only provide one product or service on your web site it is still important to vary anchor text. If you sell ‘blue widgets’ then you could also use link text like ‘cheap blue widgets’ or ‘blue widget store’. This means your links take on a more natural feel and are much less likely to be penalised or filtered out by search engines for being ‘fake links’.

2. Set up your link information differently create a link in context

Typically people set up their link information in a very similar way, however you could offer your link information with the hyperlink inside the description instead of at the beginning.

Imagine this is a description about your web site on a partner’s link page. Instead of a typical hyperlink followed by a description you could write a sentence describing your web site and then place ขyour descriptive hyperlinkข inside it.

One reason for doing this is that it reads more naturally and search engines may value the link higher as it reads more like a narrative. Many webmasters will be happy to accept this style even if some do not. To cover yourself offer the link in context as a second option along with your regular link information, that way if some sites can’t support the layout you still get your link.

3. Vary where your links point

Try to vary where link partners point to on your site. It’s fine to have the majority of links pointing into your home page, however it can be beneficial to have some links pointing to other key pages on your web site as well. Taking this approach balances out your linking and can help raise the profile of more pages on your web site.

4. How to find potential link partners from your competitors

If a web site links to your competitors it may also link to yours, and in order to find these potential link partners you can use search engines. Not so long ago Google was useful for getting a lot of back link information about a site. Recently Google’s back link data is a lot less forthcoming and it now tends to show only a tiny percentage of the sites that are linking combined with a lot of internal link data. Whether the few web sites Google shows us are the ones it finds important or whether they are in fact red herrings we cannot say for certain. I would assume the latter.

Currently Yahoo is a better portal to check for backlinks. To generate a list of linking web sites on Yahoo simply go to http://www.yahoo.com and type the following into the Yahoo search bar.

linkdomain:www.mycompetitorwebsite.com

This will deliver up to date link information as read by Yahoo. The only downside with the information is that one site may appear many times if it is giving multiple links.

5. Alternate your description text

This is often overlooked, but there is no real advantage to be had if the description text supporting your inbound links is always identical. To avoid the possibility of a description ever being seen as ‘duplicate content’ alternate it when you can. If you combine it with varied anchor text [as in tip 1] you’re heading in the right direction.

6. Link to good related content from your web site

It seems like an obvious thing to say, but with so many people caught up in link exchanging you sometimes wonder if we’re losing site of the basics. If you have something useful to say on your site and can back it up with a useful link to another web site then do so. Not every link has to be reciprocated. This resourceful linking will allow your visitors to read around the subject. Linking to informative related content is useful for visitors and search engines quite like it too.

7. Seek out directory links

Links from good web directories can be some of the best links you can get for your web site. Aaron Wall has a ‘directory of directories’ at http://www.directoryarchives.com where you will find a great selection of search engine friendly directories. Some of the directories are free to get listed in whilst others may charge a fee.

Along Came a Spider (Part Three) Thereกs More To O

Along Came a Spider (Part Three) Thereกs More To Online Success Than Search Engine Rankings

by: Julia Hyde

In the last two articles in the Along Came a Spider series,Iกve talked about the difference between search engines and directories, and how persuasive, keywordrich content can make or break your online business.

But these elements are really only the tip of the iceberg. There are at least four other factors design, usability, customer service and tracking (D.U.C.T.) to take into account if you want your online business to be a financial success.

Letกs start with number one, design.

1. Design.

Web design is like politics everyone has an opinion, and everyone could do a better job if only they had the chance. Like politics, I find it best not to get into too much discussion about the right or wrong way to design a web site. But there are some design elements it pays to avoid. Not because they don’t make the site look nice, but because they confuse and distract the visitor who is, after all, your potential customer.

Here are two things you absolutely must not let your designer do when he or she designs your site.

1. Use flash. Contrary to what some web designers will tell you, the vast majority of people who shop or surf online, do not like flash. Yes it can be entertaining, but it generally takes forever to load. And if you’re in a hurry (99% of Internet users), itกs frustrating and annoying. Interestingly, the search engines aren’t fans of flash either. They like words much better.

2. Use a dark background color. Seven out of 10 Internet users are over 40. And we all know what happens to peopleกs eyesight as they age. Don’t make your site difficult to read, especially for the growing, affluent, group of people who are responsible for over 25% of online spending. Don’t use white or colored text on a black, purple, dark blue, spotted or striped background. If people can’t read the words on your site, theyกll leave.

2. Usability

Web design is closely linked to the next element web site usability. But what does usability really mean? I don’t know what the official definition is, but to me it means making it as easy as possible for your user to find their way around your site, without getting lost.

We all seem to have a story to tell about getting lost or separated from our parents as a child. Shopping malls, on a Saturday afternoon, seem to be the favorite. One minute you know exactly where you are, where you’re going and whom you’re with. And the next, you’re totally lost. If you’re lucky, and old enough to read, there are signs and maps to help you find your way around or direct you to customer service. If not, thank goodness for store clerks and security.

Web sites are very similar to shopping malls except you can’t just ask someone for help if you’re lost or confused. For that, you must rely on the siteกs navigation. If itกs clear, youกll find what you’re looking for, make a purchase, and be in and out in no time. If itกs unclear, youกll quickly become confused, lost and disorientated.

There are some web sites itกs virtually impossible to get lost on. Amazon.com is one that springs to mind. Why? Because it has these wonderful tabs at the top of every page that tell you exactly where you are, and how to get to where you want to be. Iกm not saying every web site should be a clone of Amazon but before you build your own, study it. Thereกs a reason itกs so popular.

3. Customer Service

The brave new world of online sales hasn’t quite achieved all that it promised especially when it comes to customer service. Everyone who uses the Internet has experienced the frustration of trying to find a telephone number so they can call and ask a question. Generally, the number is buried so deep within the site you give up and move on.Even the online help and FAQกs (preferred) by many online companies) seem to answer every question imaginable, except, of course, the one you want answered.

Recently, the ETailing Group Inc. mystery shopped for customer service on 100 web sites. Only 10 earned a perfect score on the following กmust haveก criteria.

An 800 or tollfree telephone number

Keyword search

Answer emails within 24 hours, with a specific answer

Four or fewer days to receive a package

Real time inventory in shopping cart or product page

Online shipping status

Order confirmation in shopping cart

Email order confirmation

Recommended product/features in shopping process

Display customer service hours

Thereกs no reason why a smaller business can’t offer most,if not all, of the above customer service features, but many don’t. And thatกs bad for business. Most people view shopping online as a risky undertaking at best. Given the choice of buying from an unknown company, that doesn’t offer much in the way of customer service, or one of the big, trusted brand names, most will choose the latter.

4. Tracking

Getting your web site to rank well in the search engine results is almost guaranteed to attract more traffic to your site. But what you do with the increased traffic is equally important.

To ensure your siteกs success you absolutely must find out whom these visitors are, what they want, and where they came from.

To do this you need to analyze your web logs or statistics. Study them to find out which search engines people use to find your site. What words they use. How long they stay. What they do while they’re there. What pages they visit. What they buy. What they didn’t buy. Look for patterns or trends in their behavior.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a small business, a huge corporation, an online retailer, or a news portal; you must track, identify and get to know your users. Only then can you tailor your site to meet their needs.
