Everywhere you go on the Internet you find the words, "target market." What do they mean? What does it have to do with you? Well it has everything to do with your success in sales.
Let me give you an example. A few weeks ago an online entrepreneur asked me to review a direct sales presentation for him. Letกs call him "Joe". His product and service is excellent. Top quality and performance, excellent customer service and support. The product will produce desired results for any business advertising online.
In this particular case, Joeกs potential customer is in the furniture manufacturing business. The company owns a small chain of outlet stores and advertises on the Internet. Basically, an excellent candidate for Joeกs offer.
Well, Joe sent me his package. In the offline world, it would have required UPS to deliver it with a hand truck! Now, that is an overstatement, but it consisted of a threepage cover letter, with four separate attachments and a CD presentation that he was going to mail as a followup.
Hereกs my response to Joe:

"What a tremendous amount of work you have put into this presentation.
Having been on the receiving end of proposals such as this, I must tell you that it would be the recipient of the "delete" key. Why? Too much to wade through. Too much for me to absorb. Too much for me to do. Nothing to compel me to read on.
Having said that, letกs pretend for a moment that I am Mr. Jones.

Where are the needs development questions?
What tells me that you have done your homework and know about my industry?
What are my problems and how will you solve them?
How much does the average household spend on furnishings annually? (In the US itกs about $1,000)
How are you going to help me capture a share of those dollars?
How has the economy affected my business?
What qualities separate my business from my competition?
How extensive and how important are brand names to my customers?
What are my specialty areas?
What market do I target and why?
Why do my customers keep coming back to my stores?
What are some of the hot buttons or copy points that you might use to target Mr. Jones?
What is his business terminology?

Now, what was the message to Joe? Do Your Homework. Mr. Jones doesn’t give a rip about your product unless it can fulfill his needs, but first you have to know what those needs are.
Joeกs presentation, which probably took him hours if not days to prepare, was a classic case of overkill. The two sites referred to would have given Joe all the ammunition he needed to prepare an effective presentation and in just a few short minutes.

Why did you become a network marketer? Most people immediately respond, ขfor the money!ข However, this is not the real reason.

No one subjects them to the hard work of building a business just for little pieces of paper with the faces of dead presidents. The truth is you work in order to obtain what those little pieces of paper can bring you.

The first thing you need to do is to find the reason WHY you are a network marketer. Is it the freedom to choose whatever you want to do whenever you want to do it? Maybe you are looking for a different lifestyle. If there is one thing that is critical to your network marketing success, this is it. If you don’t have a reason, there is no motivation to succeed.

A network marketing business is a teaching and coaching business. If you don’t like interaction with other people, a network marketing business probably is not for you. There’s a concept that most network marketers just can’t seem to get a handle on. You do not sponsor ขreps,ข you sponsor ขpeople!ข

If you have to find a reason why you are building your business, then doesn’t it stand to reason that other people will have to do the same thing? If that’s the case, then why is it that network marketers continually focus on how much money your prospect can earn?

There’s no way you are going to convince ขJoe Sixpack,ข to get out of his Lazyboy recliner unless you find out what his motivation is. Most network marketers literally pound in the amount of money Joe can earn. They bombard him with message after message about how ขSuccessful Samข has just purchased his 10th Porsche, refurnished his 25,000 square foot cottage and promise Joe that he can do the same!

Just how realistic is this approach? Joe isn’t stupid. He works long, hard hours at his job in order to provide for his family and truly believes that the best thing he can hope for is saving enough money by summer to pay for a camping trip. Then here you come, promising Joe that he can have everything that Sam has and he can have it if he will just sign that piece of paper making you his sponsor!

You will probably sponsor a few people that way, but if you are in business for the long haul you need to change your approach and do it fast.

The proper approach is so simple, but in your rush to sponsor another ขrepข instead of helping another person, all too often you talk yourself into and straight out of sponsoring the Joes of the world.

God gave you two ears and one mouth and he did it for a reason. We are supposed to ขlistenข twice as much as we ขspeak.ข

Instead of pouncing on Joe with the latest and greatest network marketing program of all time, find out what Joe wants and needs. Ask him questions, lots of questions. In fact, in your first meeting with Joe, don’t even mention your business! Yes, that’s what I said. Don’t even bring it up. Remove yourself from the super duper network marketing persona and spend time making a new friend.

Have you ever gotten one of those letters from your local property tax appraiser, informing you that your tax bill is going up about 20 percent?

I got one of those recently, so I took it to my friend Joe Gross in San Antonio. He appeals property tax assessments for a living.

กMan,ก he said. กIกve never seen assessments shoot up like they have this year.ก

My กnews antennaeก shot up. Then when he showed me his new web site, which gave property owners a chance to look up appraisals of other homes in their neighborhood, I told him, กJoe, youกve got write a press release about this new website.ก

I helped Joe put together a press release and distribute it to local radio and TV stations. A few nights later, there was Joe, on the evening news, describing his web site to tens of thousands of viewers.

Could it happen to your website? You bet, if you remember a couple of basicsand write an attentiongrabbing press release

***Learn to spot opportunities. When you see, hear or read something that relates to your field, call the reporter who did the story and offer กanother angleก or a กfollow up.ก Reporters are often judged on their ability to กenterpriseก their own stories and ideas, and if you help make THEIR job easier…guess what they’re likely to do for YOU?

Recently the San Antonio Express News ran a story about some new software. Darrin Schroeder, VP of a San Antonio company that had just rolled out a similar product, called the reporter and offered a กfollowup.ก Result: front page story, with color picture, several days later.

***Don’t be afraid to ask. Listening to a pitch is part of every reporterกs job. And keep this in mind: because they work on deadline, they don’t always have much time to talk. So sometimes กNoก just means กNot now.ก Itกs okay to try again another time.

***Talk high touch more than high tech. A high tech feature is great…but only if it results in a high touch benefit that makes life simpler, easier, more enjoyable, or more interesting. Pitch how it saves time or money and cuts down aggravation. Humanize it as much as possible, and if you know of someone who legitimately loves and uses your site, offer them as a possible interviewee.

Writing a press release to promote your website isn’t nearly as hard as you probably think. It will cost you some time and energy, but it doesn’t have to cost you cash. You WILL get results if you keep trying, and the rewards will far outweigh the effort.

Whether it is in the world animals, recovering drug addicts, or business if the truth were told we do eat our young. As when I was young I would watch Wild Kingdom every Sunday night, sure enough there it was a big strong fast Cat would be chasing down and eating some young antelope.

As a social worker I work with clients with addiction problems and have noticed they display a similar trait as the cats. Once a person gets in recovery for just a short while they tend to be the least tolerant of the new people struggling to get into recovery. In the market of Home Business I have noticed a similar occurrence with the people that have struggled and found they way to having a profitable Home Business.

When I was hunting for a legitimate home business to start up, (which is no small task) I found what appeared to be a real business. The definition of a real business is a business that does not make any claim to be fool proof takes real effort, takes at least six months to start making any profit, and one that requires an investment of my own money.

Now when you read that definition you may feel confused, however if you stop and think about what has made anything you have ever done successful and real it would include all of the above criteria. Now back to eating our young, just how does this pertain to people in the home business? When I was starting out I knew very little about the home business and nothing at all about how to be a successful marketer in the Internet business on a meager budget.

I thought if I want to know how to do these things then I need to ask the people that are already doing it and having some success. Seemed reasonable, however what I found was that most if not all of the people running a successful internet business from home where not only not open but more than glad to sell me all kinds of programs that were to be the root of all my success.

Sadly what I found was that these people were making money off of me and not wanting to help me what so ever. I felt very frustrated with not being able to find anyone that was willing to share with me or help me repeat what they had been able to do in their home business. Yes they were eating their young.

I finally happened across a group of people that thought like I did. This group believed to be successful them selves they had to pass along all they had been taught by others. This was it, I began to get real marketing ideas that cost very little and took a lot of work. I do not mind the work and the great thing is that with the help of successful work at home business owners I soon become successful in my home business.

Of course the only way I can continue my success is to pass on what I have been taught and as long as I do that I will be successful. My success is your success and when you learn the method you pass it on to others. It all seems so simple and the idea is simple the work is hard and it is not free so if you are looking for this type of success, a real home business drop in and let me tell you how I did it.

This may comes as a surprise to you but, if you’re using popups on your website (which you should), then chances are you’re using them all wrong. Almost everybody is.

Did you know, for example, that top marketers are using HIDDEN techniques that make any given popup VASTLY more effective on their sites than the VERY SAME popup would be on yours!

In fact, Stephen Pierce has actually admitted that one of these hidden popup techniques increased his profits by a whopping 50%!

Hereกs how that technique works…

Letกs say Joe Bloggs has visited your site but has decided (for whatever reason) not to order just yet. He closes his browser (or clicks to another site) and then BAM!

Up jumps a window that makes Joe a special offer he just CAN’t refuse. On top of that, Joe has only got x number of minutes to make up his mind. Thereกs a countdown happening right before his eyes. If he doesn’t react before the time expires,he loses out on the special deal forever.

I call these กPressure Popupsก because they really put your visitorsก backs to the wall and practically force them to take you up on your offer.

For pressure popups to be completely effective they have to be กconditionalก. In other words, they should only pop up when certain conditions are met.

This is the incentive they need to place the order instantly and guarantees you a sale that would otherwise have been lost.

In the four months since I first added a conditional pressure popup to one of my sites, sales have increased by just over 20%. Itกs a good feeling to know that every single extra กpressureก sale Iกve made is one that would never have happened otherwise.

As a young boy growing up in Ohio I was impressed by the rarity of those mystics who with one utterance, could place in a nutshell all worldly knowledge.

On the other hand, there had always existed plenty of กexperts.ก

In olden days folks were forced to rely on the now outdated, กexpertก for knowledge and virtuosity.

When it comes to Internet marketing there are no experts, only Gurus.

You remember what an กexpertก is, don’t you!

Well, as a distinguished Chinese gentleman named Charlie Chan, once said, กAn expert is a person who provides quick answers that are sometimes correct.ก

While, as Charlie says, an กexpertก may only from time to time, correctly assume a fact, a Guru never ever suffers from this fallacy.

A Guru just knows all!

You see, the only quality the กexpertก lacks is perfection, otherwise he would be a Guru!

There is one other distinguishing characteristic youกll notice when sorting out a Guru from an กexpertก. An กexpertก is either, self designated or quickly proclaims the title, while a Guru leaves that function to his associates.

I truly believed that these few individuals summed up the entire Guru population. Then I discovered the Internet.

What a revelation!

When it comes to Internet marketing, the supply of Gurus gives the impression of being endless.

Every day I read of several new Gurus who have recently startled the Internet community by unearthing the ‘realก secrets of marketing success.

Thankfully, these Gurus are graciously releasing their deep dark secrets of Internet prowess, even though it may be for a limited time only, and at a compensation said to be ridiculously low for a Guru of their obvious stature.

The Internet is amazing, even Gurus mark down their wisdom!

For awhile, I feared that once these กsecretsก were released our favorite Guru would quickly pack up and take their meditation elsewhere.

But not to worry, as new hidden secrets of Internet marketing are needed, more and more Gurus appear to permeate the Web thus eliminating any major concern of a shortage.

I often ponder, can this abundance of Gurus last, is there a University somewhere that grinds them out, a sort of Guru U!

Perhaps, we ought to just count blessings and gleam as much as we can from these modern day wonders of the cosmos.

In the early day of internet marketing, giving away ebook free was a very good listbuilding strategy. It worked extremely well. But it is no longer the case in TODAY scenario. Giving away your ebook free is just not enough for your online business. You’ll need to do something different.
The net is so saturated with the free ebook because every one is giving away their ebooks free. Some of them are poorly written and reading them is just a waste of time. Of course, I am not saying that all of them are poorly written. An exception is Rebrand Profits by Gary Hugnh. It’s a very good and informative ebook you should read. Itกs Free.
So, to compete with so many other free ebooks out there, you’ll need to do something different or come up with a new idea. People are more willing to distribute your ebook if you provide them incentives. The more benefits you provide, the faster your ebook is passed on. Remember, giving away your ebook is a very good form of free advertising.
Yah…I know but HOW?
It’s definitely by way of ebook rebranding. It has been used by top internet heavyweights to get people to download and distribute their ebooks free.
In this article, I’ll show you three simple ways to get people to distribute your ebook free using ebook rebranding techniques.
But first…
You need to have your own infoproduct, be it an ebook, a report or just a compilation of articles, tips or whatever you found on the Net. Inside the infoproduct, include links to the affiliate programs you are promoting. Be selective on the affiliate program you’re promoting. Promote only affiliate programs that are relevant to your infoproduct. They must pay well, allow you to recruit subaffiliates and most important of all offer at least TWOTIER commission pay out. This is the first and foremost thing you need to do to encourage people to rebrand your ebook. This is particularly important because this is how you will make a fortune from your free infoproduct. Here is how it works:
If Joe signs up the affiliate program in the infoproduct, you get commission for his signup. If he then distributes the infoproduct to someone else and that someone else signs up through Joe’s affiliate link, both of you get paid! Can you see how powerful it is? Of course, you need to make sure that your info product is informative enough that the readers would give it away even without incentive.

We all start out the same. Some have budgets, some don’t. The one true factor out there is that we all want to expose our business. For 99% of us, starting out in the world of web marketing means a few things:

A huge learning curve
Endless nights working
Trial & Error
Learning the ropes

Compared to older more established sites out there, a brand new site without a network of well established web sites to back it up will need to depend on good quality links pointing to it. This will commence the search engine ranking strategy.
See most กgrand fatherก sites out there have already gone through the trials and tribulations of getting recognized. Since this is true, they don’t always have to depend on the ‘titleก of the link pointing to their site, nor do they have to depend on the ‘titleก tag within their site.
Most older sites get ranked for search terms that don’t even show up on their listing, this is because search engines already know the content is there and is good.
For a newer web site, great search engine rankings rely on those ‘titlesก. This helps search engines to better determine the content of the site.
For Example: กJoeก has a site about กWeb Marketingก. Joe knows that he needs to get his link on other quality sites and he also wants to get a good ranking for กWeb Marketingก. So Joe creates a link exchange program on his site and submits his link titled กWeb Marketingก to as many content related web sites as he can.
Joe also knows that if search engines find his link on other sites and itกs called กWeb Marketingก, his site had better be about กWeb Marketingก! So Joe adds กWeb Marketing Services & Tipsก as the title of his main page. He also adds specific content to match it.
Now hereกs the [kicker]. Letกs say Joe has been doing this for 2 years now, 9 times out of 10, if Joeกs web site is still promoting content about กWeb Marketingก, he probably doesn’t have to add กWeb Marketingก to his main title anymore. He can now add it further down within another link on his site.
So the moral is???
If your site is new, youกll need to depend on the ‘titlesก of many things to get your rankings up for something specific. If you’re site is more mature and has been established, you can work on other search terms youกve been longing to get for your site.
Just keep plugging away and try to keep your ‘titlesก the same for new sites and mix it up for older sites!
