How a Poster Makes a Box Office Hit

How a Poster Makes a Box Office Hit

by: Julian Yale

A filmmaker creates a film for different purposes: some for money, others for charity, and others for the fulfillment of their childhood dream that one day, they will be able to create a movie. But there is always one thing common for every given reason making it to the box office.

But what makes all the difference? POSTERS. Advertising your movie through posters will definitely create a major effect to the result of your movie being a boxoffice hit. The reason is that posters attract attention. And attention makes the market respond. Posters are great media tools to share and introduce your film to the public.

A movie poster is not just a standard paper stuck to a board. An effective movie poster uses a totally different, visual language. It is one big showandtell medium. It expresses your points in graphical terms. It avoids visual chaos, with many jagged edges or varioussized boards that distract the viewer. Instead, it guides the viewer by using a visual logic, with a hierarchical structure that emphasizes the main points.

It displays the essential contentthe messagesin the title, main headings and graphics. It indicates the relative importance of elements graphically: each main point is stated in large typeface headings; details are subordinated visually, using smaller typeface. The main headings explain the points, rather than merely stating ‘resultsก and letting the viewer hunt foror worse, inventthe message within.

And the beauty of it all, because of its size, all elements, such as the figure legends, are visible from even four feet away. With larger prints, images are more visible even from miles away.

However, it is a fact that there are those that catch your attention immediately, and still those that do not at all. Thus, having posters does not assure a box office hit. You should remember that there are some principles in making a good poster that sells.

Promoting a movie through posters should always have the marketing objective. Take for example the poster of the 2003 animate movie กFinding Nemoก. Posters like these stir up a lot of attention for the younger audience since they are the target market. It communicates well to the kids and thus encourages the parents to go and watch the movie with their kids. Such is the effect of a poster making it to the box office.

กOcean’s Twelveก, the sequel of the 2001 hit, กOcean’s Elevenก, would not have made it to box office if not for the promotional merchandise like the movie poster. What makes this poster different is the highlight of the actors and actresses involved in the film. This is also a great approach to make the people watch the movie.

Did you ever wonder why the กLord of the Ringsก made it to box office? Aside from the movie trailers being shown on television, posters in movie houses add to heighten the interest of the moviegoers.

Different people react to different situations. Similarly, different people make different reactions to a poster. Your objective should then be to generate attention enough to encourage and tickle your target marketกs curiosity from the posters you have created for your movie. In order for your movie to make it to the box office, your posters should be able to draw attention and interest.

4 Computer Moneysaving Tips

4 Computer Moneysaving Tips

by: Sharron Senter

Here are four tips that’ll save you money when buying your next computer.

Tip #1 Rebates: A rebate is not always a bargain. Computers with rebates are often close to being discontinued. You may pick up a good deal or purchase technology thatกs about to become yesterday’s news. Whatกs more, stores will often package computers with a bunch of free items to make it look like you’re getting more value. Chances are the extras are either poor quality or items you’re unlikely to use. Also, they’re counting on you to not redeem your rebate, a very common occurrence.

Tip #2 Extended Service Warrantees: Buyer Beware! They’re a gamble, but not always a bad idea. If you’re purchasing a laptop and you plan to travel a lot, an extended warranty that covers replacement of the monitor/display can be a good gamble. Replacing a display can cost $400$600, making the warranty worthwhile. On the other hand, if you plan on buying the warranty for routine maintenance; save your money. Oftentimes it can take weeks for the store to send your PC out for service. Also, remember the store where you purchased your computer does not always do warranty work during the first year, instead you may have to ship it directly to the manufacturer. In general, extended warranties cover electronics [things you can’t see]. They don’t usually cover physical damage. Most extended warranties have large gray areas, leaving the warranty provider a lot of room to reject claims.

Tip #3 Monitors: Don’t throw away your monitor if itกs still working properly. Instead, keep it and save a chunk of money by just replacing your old CPU [computer tower]. Monitors last much longer than CPUs and the technology is usually compatible between your old monitor and the new CPU. However, if you’re dissatisfied, then monitors, keyboards and mouses are the three tools to spend extra money on, since you use them every day!

Tip #4 Networking: How are you connecting to the Internet? If you’re using a high speed Internet connection, such as cable broadband or DSL, youกll want to make sure you have a network card built into your system. If you have a wireless network at home or at the office, save money and installation time by buying the wireless card built right into the computer.

What Rich Internet Marketers Know That You Don’t

What Rich Internet Marketers Know That You Don’t

by: Willie Crawford

Thirty years ago, I sold information via small classified ads in กadsheetsก on how to make money teaching others how to make money. We sent out these packets of flyers called กBig Mails.ก We sent them to people who answered out ads and sent us the postage or a selfaddressed stamped envelope.
One of the most prevalent plans back then sold for $1. It offered to teach you how to make one hundred dollars a day stuffing envelopes. This plan cost you a dollar plus a selfaddressed stamped envelope. When someone responded to your ad, you sent them a sheet of paper telling them to run the same ad and do the same things that you were doing. You also included flyers for other brilliant plans in the envelope 🙂
Fast forward 25 years, and I found myself in that same world transposed online.
They were the same because in both cases I found myself in a world where there were tens of thousands of people offering to sell others information on how to finally break free of the ratrace and create their own outrageously profitable businesses.
They were the same, because in both cases, most of the people marketing this information had never achieved any major success at what they were teaching.
However, things turned out drastically different for me the second time around. I was actually able to achieve my goals, and Iกd like to share with you how and why that happened. Iกd like to share with you, some of my major discoveries.
First, the how and why…
The how is that a small voice in my head said, กWhat you’re currently doing is insane!ก The incestuous marketing of กplansก that we’re all กpitchingก to each other just has us all กrunning around in circles.ก That small voice, that you hear too, said, ‘this is not the answer, so where is it.ก
Unlike many, I listened to that voice, stepped back, and looked around for those who appeared to have discovered ‘the answer.ก Then I made a point of studying and analyzing everything they did. I read all that they wrote. I attended live events to meet, listen to, and question them. Most importantly, I used my own power of observation to SEE who was กwalking the walk,ก and who just ‘talked a good story, but wasn’t there yetก.
I very quickly discovered that those who had uncovered some part of the real secret CHARGED you for teaching it to you. They had hundreds of people clamoring to be taught or given a helping hand. So they used their consulting fees to see who was serious AND as a means of allocating their most valuable asset their time. So I became willing to pay for the guidance of those who could really teach me.
One of the first things I was taught was that I needed a radical shift in my belief system of what IS possible. Our belief of what we can accomplish is framed by what relatives and those around us have done. We need to frame it in terms of what those who have accomplished much more have done.
That reframing occurred as I talked to online millionaires and saw how they actually viewed the world and interacted with it. My mentors and coaches had me feed my mind information and proof of what was possible. They had me totally saturate myself in the material, to the extent that even now I listen to it on my MP3 player while out jogging… it takes my mind off of the pain 🙂
Hereกs the most significant discovery I made about whatกs happening in the online world… The real money online is being made by those selling real world products that solve problems.
The real money online is being made by those who educate their markets and then make it easy for them to buy. Thatกs the most effective sales technique. Teach them and in the process bring them to the conclusion that your product is the only logical choice.
Itกs a FACT that people use the Internet to research topics of interest and to comparison shop. Then they often buy the item that theyกve researched offline. If your website is the one that educates them, and helps make the research easy, theyกll flock to your website. Itกs that simple. While there, they may purchase the item of interest from you 🙂
Another point that many online marketers are really missing is that people go online to buy ordinary tangible things! When one of my friend bought an motorhome (sightunseen) over Ebay, that shocked me. When I heard that over 5 BILLION dollars worth of vehicles are sold over Ebay annually, that enlightened me.
People love to shop, and they get tremendous pleasure out of buying things for themselves and their loved ones. Offer them what they’re looking for and theyกll purchase it from your website. They purchase everything from cars and clothing, to computers and software, to books, to pet supplies, to vitamins and supplements, to flowers, and even houses over the Internet. If you’re offering these items, in the right way, you will do very well!
If you need proof of what I have just stated, read the book, Success Alert. It was written by my friend, John Evans, who interviewed over 60 people making up to eighteen million a year doing just what I described. Grab a copy today and devote an evening to absorbing the knowledge and business wisdom contained within these indepth interviews. Get a copy from: ==> http://WillieCrawford.com/finally.html
The very powerful examples in this book will make a believer out of many. They will show you how people are quietly making millions providing people with tangible products that they WANT.
This book won’t totally solve the problem for everyone. There will still be those who will say, กYeah, they did it, but I can’t.ก Some even go as far as to imply that God doesn’t want them to succeed in a big way. They believe that they are intended to suffer and never break out of the struggle.
Listen we live in a world of unimagined riches! There is more than enough to go around. What keeps most of us from getting those things we want is that we aren’t open to receiving them. I don’t want to get mystical or anything, but every major religion, and way of thinking in the world, teaches that if you ask you will receive. Thereกs just a correct way of asking that we often don’t understand.
A good course for drastically shifting your thinking of what you CAN accomplish and what this world will give you is by Dr. Robert Anthony. This couse was lifechanging enough that I devoted a full week exclusively to studying it when I first discovered it. Grab a copy, and begin to understand many things in a totally different light by visiting: ==> http://eliteinnercircle.com/reports/c/6E
So… it takes offering the right products…things that people want. It also takes believing that you can do it enough to really go for it. For many of us, it also takes proof… we need to see examples of people doing it.
All of these are right before you. Thatกs why I needed to have this talk with you. Iกm a little confused at to why so many refuse to see what is so obvious. Iกm a little confused, but not totally confused. I acknowledge that some people กdeep down insideก don’t want success. They’re afraid of it, or don’t believe that they deserve it.
If you want to know how to actually build a thriving online business, Iกve just revealed it to you. I speak with numerous shining examples of those doing it EVERY week. They share with me things that I can probably never share with you directly. I treasure their confidence and thatกs a part of why they open up to me so. Iกve probably already shared too much… weกll see if THEY stop talking to me 🙂

How to Get FLASH Indexed by the Search Engines

How to Get FLASH Indexed by the Search Engines

by: Robin Nobles

Note: The example portions of this article have been removed. However, you can view the article in its entirety at: http://www.academywebspecialists.com/newsletters/0702.html

Perhaps you can relate to the involuntary groan elicited by search engine optimizers when a client presents an expensive new Web site featuring high quality FLASH movie content.

Of course, the client (or maybe your boss?) is thrilled with the dazzling presentation, and they rarely fail to mention what a กsmall fortuneก it cost to produce before adding กitกs worth it!…don’t you agree? All it needs now is for YOU to optimize it for findability in the search engines.ก

Isn’t it funny? … how they fail to notice the color rushing to your face as you suppress the urge to scream and opt instead for the tactful approach, patiently explaining (once again) that FLASH doesn’t score well in search engines.

Don’t panic there IS a solution!

Hereกs a solution you can use to get the best of both worlds search engine findability and the professional image enhancement that FLASH can provide.

The strategy involves using an absolute positioning technique called Z Order within your Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). For this to make sense, you must first understand what Z Order is. Microsoftกs MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com) site explains…

The Z order of a window indicates the windowกs position in a stack of overlapping windows. This window stack is oriented along an imaginary axis, the zaxis, extending outward from the screen. The window at the top of the Z order overlaps all other windows. The window at the bottom of the Z order is overlapped by all other windows.

In nontechnogeekspeak, Z Order allows you to place content partially, or even fully, on top of other content. Since only the content on top is viewable, itกs entirely possible to place an unintelligibletosearchengines FLASH movie on top of an easy toindexlayer of relevant text content. And, by doing so, your site visitor sees only the FLASH movie while the engine sees only your relevant keywordladen text.

How to create Z Order using CSS

To accomplish the magic itกs helpful to first understand what a very basic CSS using Z Order source code might look like. To view the basic example, visit the complete article online at: http://www.academywebspecialists.com/newsletters/0702.html

Source of the example: http://www.htmlref.com/examples/Fig10 14.htm

Notice that the highest value div class=’threeก is the กwindowก that lands on top. This is important to understand because thatกs how we’re going to perform the magic.

FLASH over, RELEVANT CONTENT under = SE indexability

By now youกve probably deduced we’re going to layer our relevant content exactly beneath our FLASH movie. By doing so, the site visitor will see only the FLASH movie in their browser while the search engine will find, and index, the ‘relevant contentก because search engines กviewก only the source code of the page (not the browser version) and they index only the TEXT they find within that source code.

To better illustrate how this might look, we enlisted the help of Web designer Dave Barry of SmartCertify Direct http://www.smartcertify.com/. Dave was kind enough to create an example site employing a transparent FLASH movie to help us visualize the effect. As Dave explains…

‘this flash movie was made transparent so you may see the effects of putting text behind flash. Using Dynamic HTML, you can absolutely position a flash object right over top of your existing html code. Search engines see copy and text while visitors see your dynamic flash movie.ก

To see Daveกs example, visit the complete article found at the below URL, and look for กFlash Sample.ก Once there, click anywhere in the browser window, hold down CTRL and hit กAก on your keyboard (Ctrl+A = highlight all) to see how this sample FLASH movie would otherwise กhideก the text were the FLASH not transparent.

(To view the Flash Sample, visit this article online at http://www.academywebspecialists.com/newsletters/0702.html)

Dave was kind enough to share with us the source code he used to create the effect, which can also be found the above URL.

It should be noted this effect works only in browsers that support HTML version 4.0 or greater. This is only a minor concern, however, as the vast majority of browsers that are being used today are compatible.

Yes, but will the Search Engines tolerate the ‘trickก?

Obviously the most pressing question is whether or not the search engines will accept, or reject, pages that make use of this strategy. After all, the possibility of layering irrelevant content under, or even entirely off the page (by assigning minus positioning coordinates) is a distinct possibility.

To anticipate how the search engines might view this strategy, once again, we consider the issues of กintentionก and ‘relevancy.ก

Perhaps Stephen Baker, Director of Business Development and Marketing at FAST, said it best when he remarked, กOur position is pretty straight forward…itกs not the technique that we are concerned about, itกs the intention. If we index the text in Z Order and CSS and itกs relevant to the content, then we’re all happy. But, as you know, we do have internal systems that trip wires all of the time. If a particular technique becomes heavily abused over time, weกll definitely stop indexing information through said technique.ก

As weกve said countless times before, certain legitimate Web site enhancements, like FLASH, frames, dynamic content, etc., are a nightmare for the engines to index. They simply have never done a very good job on complicated HTML page, and FLASH poses, perhaps, the greatest indexing challenge of them all.

Regardless, sites that use these upscale tools have as much right to be found as any others within their selected keyword categories. Projecting a professional image to your potential customers is important, and using Z Order within your CSS gives enables you to obtain that professional image without sacrificing search engine findability.

3 Very Simple Steps To Making Money Online

3 Very Simple Steps To Making Money Online

by: Mike Law

Network Marketing or MLM (Multi Level Marketing) is one of the biggest earning potentials on the internet today. The internet is a multi billion dollar industry where the advantages of trading are virtually endless. Here are some of the key reasons why I highly recommend Network Marketing.

The ability to not only work from home but from almost any location in the world as long as you have access to the internet was the biggest attraction for me personally. It opens a whole new world of possibilities in regards to the way you can live your life.

You work the hours you want, and you are also your own boss. It is much easier to motivate yourself when you know your efforts are going to increase your own earning potential and not the person you are working for. Also your earning potential is endless and your business grows by itself once you have the right tools in place.

Another huge benefit of Network Marketing is the amount needed to invest is far smaller than virtually any other business so you really have very little to lose. However one of the reasons a lot of people fail at Network Marketing is because they want something for nothing. Expecting to make huge profits with no time and money invested will get you no where.

This leads me to my next point of working smarter rather than harder. How you market your business is crucial to its success. You are competing in a global market with millions of potential customers; however reaching these customers is your biggest challenge. There are so many marketing tools on the market today of which a large majority of them will generate very little if any residual profits for your company. The most effective tools for you to use are the ones which will target motivated individuals who are already interested in the products and or services which you offer.

You could for example invest substantial amounts of money on tools which promise millions of hits to your site and gain absolutely no business whatsoever. On the other hand you could invest smarter and utilise the tools which target those potential associates as mentioned above for a much smaller investment. And this is where the beauty of the plug in profit system is so evident. All the most effective tools and methods are supplied for you to save you years of trial and error.

So by now you are probably thinking that this Network Marketing venture of yours is going to require a lot more time than you thought? The answer is no. Right now is the perfect time to get involved for one main reason, Turnkey solutions. Network Marketing guru’s have developed these solutions to grow their businesses, however at the same time making it extremely simple for you to grow yours. Five of my income streams come from one turnkey site which was setup in a few hours with three easy steps. To get started or to learn more go to www.wealthontap.com/pips.html.

How To Save BIG In Your Online Business

How To Save BIG In Your Online Business

by: Willie Crawford

When you’re first starting an online business, it can be a struggle finding the money to invest in the things that will grow your business most. Only later do you discover things all the guruกs know that could have saved you a small fortune. Here are a few things that will help you save on Internet marketing business necessities.

In order to be in business on the Internet you DO need a website. Hosting that website doesn’t need to cost you an arm and a leg. Here are two ways to save:

1) Don’t register your domain through your web host. Instead go to a discount registrar. Your web host will charge you up to $40 or more (per year) just to conveniently handle your domain name registration. You can register or renew your domain name yourself for as little as $8 per year. Iกve set up a service for my subscribers and clients to do just that at:

http://WillieCrawford.com/domains/

How am I able to offer you such a bargain? I have a domain name reseller account at Wild West Domains. For around $100 per year, practically anyone can become a domain name reseller. You are charged a wholesale price for domain name registrations (and other services offered on my site above). You decide how much you want to mark up your prices above that. I have practically no markup because I enjoy helping beginners get off to a good start. I know that youกll be back for other products and services that I offer after you’re a big success 🙂

2) Consider getting a web hosting account here:

http://www.profitautomation.com/app/adtrack.asp?AdID=119107

I have an account that lets me host up to 50 domains for only $109 per month. That equates to about $2 per domain, per month. The $109 package that I have gives me 4400 meg of disk space and 100 gigabytes of monthly bandwidth to spread among my 50 domains in that account any way that I want to.

The account above is intended for people who want to open their own webhosting business. Basically, you can get one of these accounts and then charge your online or local customers whatever price you choose. Find 50 local customers and charge them $100 each and youกve just turned $109 into $5000. Thatกs a nice monthly revenue stream and itกs also inline with what offline businesses expect to pay.

The above account isn’t for everyone. It doesn’t come with a lot of free tech support. You have to go through some online tutorials and then you’re the tech support. If you need help, you can get it through an online forum or through a trouble ticket system (where you pay by the minute). When one of your customers needs help, their trouble tickets go to you. If you pass them along to the parent company, you are billed by the minute.

I use the above account to host many of my own domains. I have numerous very simple sites that are only a few pages. Some are only a onepage sales letter. I save a bundle by paying only $2 per month to host these. When you’re paying only $2 per month for hosting you don’t need to make a lot of sale for a site to be profitable.

Another necessity is basic Internet access. For that I use my local cable company but I also have a backup dialup connection. That account, which offer decent service cost me less than $10 per month. Because I transfer many 30 meg or larger files back and forth regularly, this account probably isn’t robust enough to be my primary. However, my local cable company does sometimes have outages for various reasons. Thatกs when I use this dialup account most. I also use it sometimes while Iกm traveling. You can checkout the company I use at:

http://47928.yourdialupservice.com/

They offer thousands of local access numbers in the U.S. and Canada.

I have not located a comparable resource for outside the U.S. and Canada, but will pass it along when I do.

Another way to save big is to get your own merchant account. When you use Paypal or Clickbank, your initial investment may be less. However you pay much higher processing fees, and your less professional appearance DOES cost you sales. Savvy customers who understand Clickbank and Paypal will recognize that you’re not processing enough volume to consider a merchant account worthwhile. They may consider you an amateur that they don’t want to risk major purchases with.

Iกm not saying that you shouldn’t use Paypal or Clickbank when you first start out and you’re not confident that your product will even sell. I AM saying that กwhen you’re ready to run with the big dogs, you need to look like one of them.ก Top marketers that I know who are processing tens of thousands, and even hundreds of thousands of dollars per month in credit card transactions use: http://WarriorProcessing.com

Take a look at the site and youกll see why itกs who we use.

As you get your online business rolling, the other thing youกll need is traffic. When you first get started, the fastest way to get it is from the payperclicks. I use Google AdWords to drive initial traffic to all of my sites when I need that traffic fast. That allows me to quickly get enough traffic to test and improve my conversion rate. None of the other payperclicks usually deliver the volume of traffic that I want quickly enough.

After I refine things using Google AdWords, I do set up accounts at some of the other payperclicks. I use Google AdWords at first because I place a very high value on my time and I don’t want to spend months just getting enough traffic to refine the sales process on a single site.

Unless you have lots of free time, I wouldn’t waste time on any other traffic source initially EXCEPT for the one I am using right here. Writing and submitting articles to ezines and article directories has proven the single best source of free traffic for me. It works so well that Iกve written over 300 articles on various aspect of Internet marketing. To prove that this works, just enter my name at any search engine. Youกll see millions of returns and most of them are simply from my article writing activities.

The other thing that will save you time is studying and practicing copywriting. Minor improvement in your web copy can easily increase your conversion rate by 100 times. Not learning copywriting is practicing false economy for most of us. If only 1 out of every 200 visitors to your site buys and just by changing a headline you can change that to 1 in 20, that shows just how important copywriting is. There have been countless documented cases of people getting improvements this dramatic from minor but important improvement in their web copy.

To learn copywriting, I went through and highly recommend Yanik Silverกs Ultimate AtHome Internet Copywriting Workshop. This will be your largest initial expense, but itกs a necessary one. Words sell, and if you’re not willing to learn to use words properly in your marketing, then you probably shouldn’t waste time setting up a website.

You can get all of the details on this course at:

http://www.ultimateonlinecopymanual.com

Weกve just gone over a number of way that you can dramatically cut the expenses associate with operating your online business. Iกm willing to bet that Iกve just told you things that NO ONE else has told you. They aren’t all trying to take advantage of you. However, they are hoping that out of ignorance youกll spend more on the same items through them. Save that money and plow it back into growing your business.
