What Makes Podcasting Different

What Makes Podcasting Different

by: Mahmood Bashaash

When the signs of a new technology for developing web content appeared, nobody was aware about its growth speed. Now, after months, the podcasting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcasting) is going to be more and more popular and new publishers are developing content, based on this technology. They have found this method intuitive and attractive to clients. But regardless of the fascinating aspects of multimedia content, what other options make the podcasting different than other methods of providing and publishing content? Here, I have listed five major differences. Perhaps, at the time that you read this article, as this technology is going to be more mature day by day, new reasons could be added to my list. I leave it to the readers’ interests to search for new options.

In spite of other known methods of delivering content which are mostly based on Push technology, the podcasting is based on pull technology. In push technology, the content is delivered, directed from the source to the consumer. The consumer has no control over it. For example, when a radio channel starts at a specific time, follows based on a predefined and fixed program and ends at a specific time, the consumer has no chance or permission to alter any part of it. If you lose a part of the program, you won’t be able to relisten to it. You can not rewind it, stop it and think a while about the subject then replay it. This is push technology. But, if you could have control of the flow of the content, it would be pull. The consumer selects the content and controls it. Podcasting is a kind of pull technology. You download selected content and use it based on your own desire and full control over the flow of content.

However there are many notifying and automatic content syndication utilities, but you should always surf different websites for different content. This is your responsibility, as the consumer of the content, to go and visit the source of the content, on a website. But podcasting removes this step. Just one time, for ever, you choose your desire radio channel, news feed, poet channel or else. Then the aggregation software would be responsible to deliver the most recent casts right in your mobile MP3 player. After a while, you would even forget the address of websites and just listening to the downloaded up to date content would be your daily fashion.

Internet connection is not that much easy to be available every time and every where. So, using web contents would be impossible in many cases. When you are driving, climbing, resting and walking in the morning, you would be deprived of having access to web content. No web log, no web surfing, no radio channel and else. But, the downloaded podcasts are available in the MP3 player which could be accessible to you in different occasions and places, making casts ready to use. No laptop and phone line to connect to the Internet is needed. No clean place to sit and use your PC for surfing the web sites is required. Everything is loaded in your tiny MP3 player which is able to play hours without any need to electricity plugged.

The device for using podcasts is a tiny, every time and everywhere available MP3 player. The iPod is a brand which is owned by Apple company. It is why this technology is called Podcasting. The Pod is derived from iPod and cast from Broadcast. The iPod is not the only MP3 device that could be used. There are numerous providers of MP3 player devices that the consumer could use for listening to podcasts. These small devices are mobile. Consume very low energy to work. They are light and small. They are not expensive and are available with different capacities. MP3 players are very popular and you can see many people in the street that have hung them over their neck and are listening to the music. They are now part of the daily life. It makes the penetration ratio of the podcasts deeper than other type of contents that are basically dependant of having a PC, or laptop and Internet connection.

Possibility of developing podcasts is high. It is cheap and easy to develop. From very professional radio channel owners to amateur poets who have little audiences among their school friends would be able to easily develop podcasts. Just a personal computer with very basic multimedia capabilities, like, microphone input, audio output and software to record voice, combine with background music and convert to low quality and small size MP3 format. Then you need just a FTP account for uploading the MP3s. A very basic knowledge about RSS 2.0 standards is also required. For this last option, you can use current available feeds and alter them for your own needs. I just started using this method, as learning RSS 2.0 needs times. I copied an already created RSS file and edited it based on my own needs and it worked without having enough knowledge. To download your podcasts, the consumer should install very basic aggregator software, one like iPodder (http://ipodder.sourceforge.net) which is free. And finally a MP3 player software like iTune (http://www.itune.com) or Microsoft Media Player which is already installed on Windows operating systems.

Podcasting, like web logging, is rapidly growing and every day, new podcasts in different fields, from poetry to technology, from training to radio channels are being created and published on the Internet. There are special directories and websites that index podcasts and podcasting websites. You can start from one of these directories and reach hundreds and thousands available and known podcasts on the Internet. One of these directories is http://www.podcast.net which has categorized podcasts in a directory structure. It could be a good start point for your adventure.

Downloading MP3กs Made Easy

Downloading MP3กs Made Easy

by: Keith Kingston

The MP3 movement started out with a huge audience of music enthusiasts on the internet. The MP3 digital music format has had, and will continue to have, a huge impart on how people, gather, listen to and share music.

The MP3 format is a compression system for digital music that helps reduce the size of a digitized song without disturbing the sound quality. Digital music is converted to MP3 format and made available for use, usually via the web. MP3 files can be downloaded onto your computer from the internet and special software, either commercial or freeware. Using your computer and software you can convert digital music from a CD into MP3 format.

MP3 files can be played in three different ways:

They can be played directly onto your computer.

They can be decompressed and recorded onto a CD.

These files can be played on a portable MP3 player.

The advantage of MP3 players is that they are small, lightweight and rugged. They are a great way to carry your MP3 files with you!

With a portable MP3 player, a personal computer, and the appropriate software, you can do the following:

Obtain free or lowcost music from the web.

Create your own mix of music by downloading MP3 files from the web and converting the tracks from CDs.

Listen to nearCD quality music wherever you go.

Listen to more music (up to 10 hoursก worth).

If you want to convert your songs from your CDs into MP3 files, you can use ripper and encoder software. A ripper copies a songกs file from the CD onto your hard disk. The encoder compresses the song into the MP3 format. By encoding songs, you can play them on your computer or take them with you on your MP3 player. The ripper and encoder software may come with your MP3 player.

The specific instructions will vary with the individual software programs, but the following steps will definitely take place:

Place the CD from which you want to convert songs into your drive.

Select the track(s) that you want to convert to MP3 format.

Convert the selected track(s).

Copy the new MP3 files on to your computerกs hard disk.

Now you are ready to download these MP3 files into your portable MP3 player.

Once you have MP3 files on your computer, you can use the software that came with your MP3 player to download the files into your MP3 player. Again, the specific instructions will vary depending upon your software program and player, but you will:

Create a playlist from your MP3 files.

Plug the player into your computerกs parallel of USB port.

Transfer the MP3 files according to the instructions.

Once you have downloaded the MP3 files into your portable MP3 player, you are ready to take your music anywhere. Most MP3 players are small, lightweight, and solidstate. Because most players are solidstate, there are no moving parts to break down or skip, so the sound quality is uninterrupted regardless of your physical activity. MP3 players are equipped with various types of headphones or earpieces.

Portable MP3 players can play music longer than a portable CD player. The length of play for a CD player is about 74 minutes, the length of one CD. However, the length of play for an MP3 player depends upon its memory capacity, which can be upgraded on some models. A standard MP3 player can play for about half an hour (32 MB) to a few weeks (40 GB)! Some models can be upgraded with additional memory devices.

How Affiliates Can Have Their Own Radio Show…

How Affiliates Can Have Their Own Radio Show…

by: Anik Singal

Before we start, I want to ask you one simple question. If you knew what you know today about how big blogging would be before it started, would you have started a blog? Well, in that case, you better pay close attention to podcasting!

Pretty much everyone and anyone who knows the slightest bit about Podcasting thinks about the Apple IPod and how IPod users are using Appleกs ITunes software to download their favorite songs over the internet.

But what if I told you that you don’t even need an IPod to podcast? As a matter of fact, to have your own podcast show, an IPod is absolutely unnecessary!

The name กpodcastingก is a combination of the name for Apple’s portable mp3 player, the กIPod,ก and the word ขbroadcasting.ข Using mp3 audio to broadcast a message was formerly known as กaudioblogging.ก It only became known as podcasting after a million IPod users subscribed to Appleกs ITunes directory within two days of when ITunes launched.

So for those of you who don’t know, hereกs the scoop: Podcasting is a way to listen or view the files you want, when you want. Special podcasting software now also allows you to be automatically updated when a specific podcast you subscribe to has been updated.

How it works…

It works by first having someone first make a podcast, which is basically a file sitting on the internet waiting to be downloaded. The next step is for the user to subscribe to that Podcast by using readily available กpodcatchingก software. The software will periodically check for updates and download any new files.

กSo I’m an affiliate, I want to make money from podcasting, but I don’t have an IPod. How can podcasting helping me?ก

Podcasting has been around in one form or another since the year 1991. Before it became known as Podcasting, it was known as audio blogs. In other words, many affiliates may have already been using this technique, just without the title of a กpodcast.ก

How you can start implementing podcasting?

It is not very different from having a newsletter or an Ezine (something we talk about a lot). But from now on, you can start adding audio files to the newsletter and instantly you have an active podcast.

Record your message

Convert into MP3 file

Create an RSS feed of your podcast

Upload MP3 to your website

Listeners can now subscribe to be notified when you make updates using podcatch software

The only part here where it gets a bit technical is the process of creating an RSS feed of your podcast. However, even that step will only take a few minutes to learn completely.

Using podcasting, you can immediately differentiate yourself as an affiliate and begin building a unique list of loyal subscribers! Congratulations, you are just a few steps away from having your own radio show!

Will MP3 Ringtones Take Over All Other Ringtone Fo

Will MP3 Ringtones Take Over All Other Ringtone Formats?

by: MtraX

Will MP3 take over as most supported ringtone format from cellphone manufacturers?

Global ringtone sales are estimated to approach the $3 billion mark. In the US, market figures for 2005 range from $146 million to $300 million in annual sales. Some analysts predict growth upward of $900 million by 2008. [according to MercuryNews]. With legal music downloads steadily increasing, it seems inevitable that there is synergy between the two markets. It is said that full song downloads to mobile phones are also on the increase and with the rise of higher bandwith services as 3G and 4G, the Eastern markets are already enjoying the benefits.

MP3 has been a controversial part of the Internetกs history. Itกs been so controversial that it has actually rooted the file format into the computer industry (because thereกs no such thing as…). With so many MP3 players being sold annually it will probably be a good few years before another file format dethrones it.

The marriage between cellular phones and mp3 players have long ago taken place. Most phones had problems with memory not being large enough to handle full songs, but there are already phones that take flash cards of up to 1 Gigabyte of data so that bridge has been crossed quite a while ago.

This brings me to one of the oldest conspiracy theories which Iกll discuss as a comparison. I am sure that cars would have been able to run off any type of waste (or old cooking oil for what itกs worth) long ago if it was not for the monopolies of the large oil cartels in the world. Itกs not a direct comparison, I know, but what may you ask have oil cartels have to do with MP3 playing cell phones? Well, for one, gas (or petroleum as some call it) is a กproprietory fuelก which can be controlled in a way, by oil suppliers as itกs made from oil. Just like that, in the ringtone industry, there are proprietory formats of ringtones which many manufacturers rely on to make extra profits, as well as whole industries of ringtone suppliers.

Surely it would be easier if all cell phones could just play MP3? Yes, but with the large availability of MP3, it might be a risk on the music industryกs behalf for loss of profit on the one side, and then loss of profits on the manufacturers. Itกs a catch twenty two situation with the users losing out in the end! Some cellphone manufacturers do support though and Iกve got an idea it is in order to capture market share in the mp3 player industry. Thatกs a good move.

To the question whether MP3 will take over as fully supported ringtone format my answer is, quite possibly. I do think there is value in supporting MP3 (and MP4 which includes video for future) and hope that weกll see more of it soon.

5 Minute Guide to Video Editing for Beginners

5 Minute Guide to Video Editing for Beginners

by: Natalie Aranda

Getting started with video editing is very simple you only need a few items and you can be producing quality movies at home that you will be able to enjoy for many years to come. Maybe even produce a hit Hollywood movie.

The basic items you need are a video capture card, the software to edit, your computer, storage space on your computer and a camcorder, VCR, or you can display your movie on your computer screen.

The process is effortless, all you do is capture the video to you computer using a capture card, then edit your video with video editing software and then download the video that you edited to either tape or burn it to a VCD, CD, or DVD.

Let’s look at your computer first. You will need a minimum of a Pentium II 300 or faster, a minimum of 256 Megs of RAM, but you will get better performance with 512 Megs. You will also desire to have a 30GB drive that is split into 2 separate partitions. This means that you will have a C: and a D:. The C: should be given 10GB and will have all of your software stored there and the D: will be where your audio, video and editing projects are stored. Your graphics card should be a 32 Meg AGP. You can have an 8 or 16 Meg but the quality will not be as good.

Storage is probably the most confusing thing about video editing. Video makers have many choices for storing their digital video files and this is why it can be so confusing.

If you desire creating your own DVD’s then you are going to need lot of storage. The most you can get out of a single sided 4.7 GB DVD is around 2 hours of video. If you are using DV footage you are going to need 13GB per hour of video, this means you will need 26GB of storage and remember you always have extra footage that you need to factor that in as well so you are now up to 39GB of storage space needed. If you are adding other options such as graphics, MPEG2 footage for the DVD and the folder to hold it all then you are now up to 50GB. So, for your 2 hour movie you will need 50GB of space at least.

So, when you begin be sure that you have enough storage on your computer for the type of video that you wish to store.

On to the video capture card and the video editing software. When you first visit the electronics store you will find many manufacturers that create video capture cards. The most popular include

Some of the reputable video capture card manufacturers are: Pinnacle, Matrox, Dazzle, ADS, Canopus, and Digital Origin.

What video capture cards do to put it in simple terms is that these cards use hardware or software compression to digitize your video onto the hard drive on your computer. This way you can edit your video and play it back onto tape or display your movie on your computer screen.

Some times, you can purchase the video capture cards along with the video editing software that you choose. Some of the most popular video capture cards that are packaged with video software include the Pinnacle Pro One which comes with the Adobe Premiere 6 full version, TitleDeko RT, DV Tools 2.0, Hollywood FX, and Impressions DVD. The Dazzle DV NOW AV can be purchased along with the Premiere 6 full version and the DVDit LE.

Having music along with your video can also be accomplished with a MP3 Converter that will allow you to convert your MP3 music into a wav file or the format in which you need for your video. You may also wish to purchase a MP3 Encoder which will allow you to Wav or other formats into a MP3. A CD ripper is another item that you may wish to purchase that will help with converting your CD’s to MP3, WAV, WMA type files.

One other software program that will make you life easier when you begin video editing is a MPEG Encoder which is a very easy to use program that will make converting several formats easy than you can imagine. Many of these MPEG converters will aid in converting DVD, VCD, AVI, MPEG, GIF, Flash, WMV, WMA, WAV, MP3, MP4, M4A, OGG, AAC, 3GP and even more/

So, now all you need to do is to find the best video editing software that you feel comfortable with and off you go. You can find several different video editing software companies that offer their software on a trial basis, this will let you try out the software so you can see if it is the perfect software for you. But, remember with the trial version you will be receiving the video capture card. You will have to purchase it separately.

Streaming Audio Made Easy

Streaming Audio Made Easy

by: Quentin Brown

February 1, 2004

Internet streaming audio is the most prevalent form of multimedia on the Internet today according to Creative, one of the leading companies in the sound hardware field. Over the last few years, streaming audio has moved from being a curiosity to a business strategy that is adopted by many media organizations.

Streaming Audio has always been available to the big corporate sites and techies. Now every one can use simple software to produce their own streaming audio from a web site.

Marketers and business people have always known that a wellplaced audio stream can increase sales and signups to their products and services. The problem has always been that the average person could not afford the high cost of special servers or programmers to be able to use this technology.

There have been a number of products around that provide streaming audio however as they have grown and developed so have the plugins required for listening to the streaming files.

With the new software available today anyone can add audio to their web sites without the need for any large plugins and complicated software. Simply add your audio file and choose a component to activate the stream and click go. These programs output all the necessary files, which you can then use to embed in your web pages with a quick copy and paste.

The web visitor can simply click and listen, even over a standard 56K modem.

So now that you’re considering adding the sweet sound of audio to your site, where might you want to use it?

Depending on your websiteกs content and theme, there are a variety of ways to incorporate your audio into it. For example:

You might place a welcome message on your front page, summarizing your siteกs highlights, informing visitors of what theyกll find, and thanking them for stopping by.

If you have an กabout usก page on your site, you might want to record a brief message to accompany your background info. This will help people feel as if they’re actually meeting you.

Since testimonials are a great enhancement to any site imagine if you actually added them in your customerกs own voice. If you use one of the phone recording services you could give them the number and they could easily record how they feel about your products/services.

If your site has been featured in an online interview or radio show, imagine including this audio in your site. Just think of it as your very own live press room.

Perhaps just adding some pleasant music for your visitors to listen to as they view your web pages.

There are many features that these new programs provide the user.

Produce as many files as you like.

No need for expensive programmers

Many allow you to host them on your own server you’re in control.

Greatly reduce the size of your audio file.

Streams over most modem connections

Easy to use interface

Added components for more variety

So now that you’re actually thinking of recording something and adding it to your site, how do you do it? There are many different ways, some more expensive then others. Letกs examine some of your choices a little more closely.

1) MP3 Sound Stream: http://mp3soundstream.com/

Creates streaming audio from MP3 or Wav files. Produces high quality output for only $39.95.

2) Audio Player Pro: http://www.audioplayerpro.com/

Starting at only $47.00. This produces a code that you can paste onto your website that will enable the viewersก default player.

3) Audio Generator: http://www.audiogenerator.com/

Streaming audio using just your browser. Easy to use, you can phone in your message or use MP3 files. Excellent sound quality. After recording your message paste some code onto your site and a button appears with your audio. $29.95 monthly.

4) Sonic Memo: http://www.sonicmemo.com/

Includes a stepbystep tutorial. Youกll have to create your own MP3 files and upload them to your server. If you record WAV files, youกll have to first convert them to MP3 format. This software sells for $97.00.

5) Instant Audio: http://instantaudio.com/

Just record a message by phone and your website or email is instantly audioenabled. To check their sound quality call the phone number listed on the site, leave a message, then hit the play button on the site to listen. This service will cost you 29.95 a month.

Your site has been sending nonverbal messages for years; now itกs time to break free and let it send a message everyone can hear. Adding audio to your website is not only easy to do, it can help you gain the trust of your siteกs visitors, thus increasing your conversion rate. So stop wasting your time and money, and start getting the sales you may be missing.

Googleกs free desktop search utility made it out of the กbetaก stage and users can now download a finished 1.0 version from http://desktop.google.com for free.

With improvements over the กbetaก version released in 2004, the finished version not only allows you to search your own computer for Microsoft Office documents, emails, and instant messaging history, but now supports music, video, images, PDF files, and the Firefox and Netscape Web browsers.

In their neverending quest to make their name synonymous with กsearch,ก Googleกs Desktop Search utility makes a bold step towards dominating the desktop search market.

Available for Windows XP and Windows 2000, Googleกs desktop search remains miles ahead of MSN and Yahoo!, who released their own beta version desktop search utilities several months after Google.

Google also chose to create an environment friendly to thirdparty software developers by encouraging them to develop กplug insก that expand the capabilities of their Desktop Search application.

By allowing others to add their ‘twocentsก to the program, Google will further cement their position as the leader in this emerging field of กdesktopก search.

** MP3 Player Wars Boiling Over **

In response to Appleกs iPod Shuffle, a low priced flash memory MP3 audio player, Sony announced plans to offer a comparably low priced MP3 player in the $100 to $150 range.

This in response to complaints from consumers that Sonyกs past MP3 player offerings rated too expensive next to the featurerich iPpod.

Consumers can expect several developments in response to Sonyกs entry into the กUnder $150ก MP3 player market.

First, increased use of the portable players will cause related businesses selling the actual MP3กs and accessories to experience continued growth, both online and offline.

Second, a new trend known as กpod castingก is getting set to explode.

กPod castingก involves content providers (radio djกs, entrepreneurs, columnists, musicians) creating MP3 audio content and then making it super simple for listeners to automatically download these กbroadcastsก online and listen to them at their convenience.

The fact that consumers can now get their hands on the equipment to download and listen to these broadcasts so cheaply means a whole world of amateur djกs and talk show hosts is about to hit the cyberairwaves.

Though youกve heard rumblings about it, and people are grasping around in the dark trying to get a grip on how to implement it, now you can actually plan to see and hear about the widespread use of กpod castingก in the very near future since a potential audience of listeners with the right equipment is now set to grow.

** Associated Press Offers RSS Feeds **

The Associated Press now offers RSS feeds of their top news stories. RSS (Real Simple Syndication) makes it possible for content providers to offer instant updates to their readers without sending email.

Anyone with an RSS reader such as FeedDemon (www.feeddemon.com) can receive and read RSS feeds.

Traditionally, the Associated Press marketed their services exclusively to newspapers and online sources such as Yahoo! News.

Now, by offering their RSS feeds directly to consumers at www.ap.org, the Associated Press is obviously seeking to bypass online news sources and go directly to the consumer.

The fact that the worldกs oldest and largest news source has chosen to start offering content this way demonstrates quite clearly that RSS is fast coming of age as an acceptable masscommunication medium and that widespread consumer adoption is imminent.

Soon, thereกll be an RSS reader on every computer desktop and the use of RSS will become as widespread as email.

Guide to Finding Music Online

Guide to Finding Music Online

by: Keith Kingston

Are you frustrated because finding your favorite songs on the net has become more of a chore than an enjoyable activity? Read this simple guide to finding music online and your troubles will be out of mind before you download your next Green Day hit!

MP3s are compressed music files that are onetenth the size of regular audio files. As a normal audio file requires about 40 megabytes to download, and MP3 requires four. Although this is still a substantial number, it is much more manageable for the average computer. Thus began the MP3 downloading, sharing and trading craze. There are a variety of options when it comes to playing your MP3s. Media Player comes with Windows, QuickTime 4 comes with Macintosh, and Win amp is the industry standard product.

Music can be downloaded from websites or FTP sites. Websites are easier to use. Songs download automatically when you click on the titles. Finding good websites to download from is difficult. The sites that used to work well now dabble in other venues. AlltheWeb.com and MP3.com usually only contain independent, unknown bands that may be great, but if you’re looking for the stuff youกve heard of, youกll be wasting your time. Audiofind now carries radio stations instead of music files, and Audiogalaxy.com Music Search requires a subscription. Good websites to use are LycoMP3 Search, MP3 Search on Altavista, MP3 Search at Astraweb, and MP3Bot Search Engine. FTP sites usually require special software. Some free software options include WS FTP and FTP Explorer. Oth Net (Kermit search) is a clean fast way to download from FTP sites directly from the browser that works even better than the software options.

In the wake of the Napster downfall, it has become mostly illegal to download and share free music files on the web. Musicians are opposed to the practice, and rightly so, because the free music sharing significantly affects the commercial success of their CD sales in stores. Downloaders tend to think musicians are being unfair by revoking the free music files from the net, but one must remember that selling music is their career. It is nearly impossible to find full albums on the web. These days, musicians will release a couple of new hits onto the net to try to entice the web surfing crowd to wander into the music store and buy the full album. Remember, if all else fails and you MUST have the MP3 of a song, there are thousands of sites to which you can subscribe and pay for the downloads. New bands are always willing to put their music out on the Internet in hopes of getting heard, so free downloads are limitless if you are willing to lend your ear to some new tunes.

Web Coach Tip: 4 Ingenious Ways To NOT Give Away T

Web Coach Tip: 4 Ingenious Ways To NOT Give Away The Digital Farm!

by: Donna Payne

A few days ago a prospect replied to one of my follow up autoresponders where I asked how they were doing and if they had any questions or if they needed help with my free workbook they downloaded.

I was so proud, and downright tickled silly as I read their email, and I quote:

กHi Donna,

The check list is great and helped a lot. Iกm on my way in terms of writing the copy for my website and am working with a web designer to get it up and running. Thank you for providing wonderful materialsก

End of quote.

Hmm… (sigh)

Well. Iกm so glad to provide awesome tools to the masses. If she liked my workbook so much, why didn’t she contact me? All my work preparing a document to ultimately help me get clients on track was being used to benefit some other web designer. Grrr…I was steaming mad!

Then it happened a kingsize slap of reality just smacked me right across the face. Duh? Iกm giving away my กgoodiesก for FREE!!! Itกs time to start CHARGING for my knowledge…Jeez I do live in the information age, don’t I?

I immediately sent an IM to my Business Coach. What do I do? How did I not see this happening? How long was I going to continue to give away the farm? After an awesome brainstorming session with my Coach, Iกm ready to redraft my workbook with killer web site & marketing tips I learned at a recent seminar and package my workbook 4 different ways, WITH NEXT TO NO COST! Listen up! YOU DON’t WANT TO MISS THIS FREE ADVICE!

#1. Read my workbook aloud to record an mp3 on my computer. Sell the instantly downloadable Mp3 for $37 + a boatload of irresistible bonuses (don’t forget those). Cost to me $0.

#2. Of course Iกll have my new draft saved as a .pdf file. The next package will be: the instantly downloadable Mp3 & .pdf file and the irresistible bonuses for $97. Cost to me – $0.

#3. I just love this one. A hard copy workbook with CD of the audio, the downloadable Mp3 & .pdf, PLUS 30 minutes of free coaching, and the bonuses for $197. Cost to me under $20.

Do you see how this is working…just keep sweetening the pot a little at each price point.

#4. Ahh! the ultimate package! All the goodies from #3 PLUS a seat in my 6 week กWebsite Uก teleseminar for $397. Payable in 2 payments (you can do that thru your shopping cart or Paypal – being flexible is key!) Cost to me under $50 + time setting up the seminar.

And another Bonus tip…I have a small digital recorder that also records phone calls…betcha’ can’t guess what I’m planning to do? Ha! You guessed correctly! I’m going to record my teleseminars!

Isn’t it amazing what you can come up with when you get slapped in the face?

And it all started with an 8 page word.doc I created to help my clients prepare to build their web sites. Whodathunkit?

Create your own Audio studio for under $100.

Create your own Audio studio for under $100.

by: Quentin Brown

Creating your own audio studio has never been easier. There are so many great products around today that will allow you to produce high quality audio for a fraction of the price it used to cost.

HARDWARE

The first thing you will need is a compatible computer. Today every new computer is already set up with everything you will need. A basic sound card with a mic and line in jack. If you do not have a sound card they are very cheap and you can get a good one from any standard computer shop.

Next you will need a good mic. These come in all sizes and shapes with different configurations however a general all round mic like the Logitech Noisecanceling microphone is fine for beginners. I suggest you get a desk top one to start with as you may want to move into video later and so you wont want a headset in your videos.

Of course you could go up a stage and get a preamp with a professional mic but this will start running into dollars and the whole aim of this article ids to help you get started.

Next you will want to get some cables to connect up your tape recorder and other audio equipment. Again the computer stores now have packs that will connect up pretty well any device into your computer to digitalize your sound.

SOFTWARE RECORDING

Recording your audio is probably one of the most critical parts of this process and again you can get software that ranges from free to many thousands of dollars. For this exercise I suggest you download the free copy of Audacity. This is an excellent software package that will allow you to record from your mic or any equipment you have.

It provides excellent editing capabilities and also will allow you to edit multiple tracks and then combine them into one single track. For a wuick overview of how to do this you can watch this video.

Download the software here. http://audacity.sourceforge.net

SOFTWARE CONVERTING

The next piece of software you will need for your studio is a converting program that will allow you to convert different formats. For example you may have a real audio file and you want to convert it to mp3. dBpoweramp is like the swiss army

knife for the audio industry and will convert just about any file to any other file format.

Convert from one format to another, just about every audio type is supported: mp3, mp4, Windows Media Audio (wma), Ogg Vorbis, AAC, Monkeys Audio, FLAC and many others whilst preserving ID Tags. It will also rip CDs for you.

SOFTWARE REDUCTION

If you are going to stream an mp3 direct then you may want to recompile the file to a smaller format. RazorLame is a socalled กfrontendก for use with LAME. LAME is a great MP3Encoder: itกs very fast, it produces highquality files, has many advanced features (like Variable Bitrates and JointStereo), and itกs open source. Unfortunately, it is a command line utility, and that is where RazorLame comes in: It provides an easytouse graphical userinterface which makes MP3encoding even easier!

The best way to use this software is to get one file and compile in a number of different formats to test the size against quality. Very similar to working with graphics.

SOFTWARE – STREAMING

There are a few different ways of streaming your new audio files. If you have Macromedia products you can simple organize this your self however there are some great third party programs around that will do it all for you at a fraction of the cost.

MP3 SOUND STREAM

This is a simple piece of software that takes any mp3 or wav audio and converts the whole file into a swf file and then attaches a button so that viewers can listen on a web page without needing to download any extra software. This is because the flash plugin is on 98% of computesr and if not it will automatically detect and load the small plugin. This is great for anyone not wanting to get ino all the technical aspects of streaming audio.

You will not need to reduce your files at all with this program as it doers it all for you. This is perfect for anyone wanting to stream one file at a time and wants to do it quickly and efficiently. It will stream even over most modem connections.

MSIJUKEBOX

For people wanting to stream a number of files then msijukebox is a great alternative. This software lets you choose any number of mp3 files and then organizes them using an XML file. By using the above free programs you can significantly reduce the size of these files to save on bandwidth.

Because MSIJukebox streams the actual mp3 you can also have a lot higher quality playback including stereo files. This is much better for those wanting to stream a number of very high quality mp3 audio files.

SUMMARY

So there you have it. A complete studio set up for under $100. Just download all the free software and purchase any of the streaming audio setups that you want. You can then create, edit and manipulate any audio files you like. You will also be able to add these audios to your website.

With the web surfer becoming much more กweb savvyก than they were a year ago, they are expecting not only information but an entertaining web experience.
