Effective Networking for Professional Success

กHow to Make the Most of Your Personal Contactsก

by Rupert Hart, Stirling Books, 1997

ISBN 0 949 142 09 3

125 pages

We are all ขselfemployedข now.Today there is absolutely no job security. We are living in an age of corporate downsizing, and freelance consultants, or selfemployed workers are growing by the day. Networking is one skill you need to practice to get ahead and survive these uncertain times.

Wisdom in a Nutshell:

1. Networking is essential for both new jobs and business contracts.

2. Effective networking is 12 times more effective than answering advertisements

3. Advertising is becoming ineffective except on a large scale.

4. Networking helps you find hidden opportunities and can set you apart from the competition.

5. An indirect approach is better than a direct one. Use someone you know to introduce you to your target contact. Never go straight to your target without a gobetween who will put in a good word for you.

6. You can overcome your natural shyness, your fear of using people, and your fear of rejection.

The 3 key networking techniques are:

1. Build a network of partners to keep an open eye and ear for new opportunities for You.

2. Reach targeted individuals in two ways: directly or indirectly.

3. Build visibility by raising your profile. Go to every social gathering you possibly can.

Building your network is an ongoing process. You need to increase your range of contacts constantly.

Planning your campaign:

1. Define your objective

2. Select the right technique

3. Understand that ขdeal flowข or your number of prospects must be great in order to bag one new business contract.

4. Identify your target

5. Work out your positioning. This is a short statement of what you are about, what you can offer.

6. Think about what you can do for your network partners in exchange for information and contacts.

Building Network partners:

1. Talk to everyone you know about opportunities

2. Clarify what network partners can and will do for you

3. Know which contacts to build into network partners

4. Find those friendly network spiders, those types of people who just seem to know everyone.

5. Use the telephone.

How to grow and refresh your network:

1. Go out of your way to be where people are.

2. Get into the habit of being talkative.

3. Get the contact details of people you meet. Not just exchanging business cards but stapling information like birthdays, anniversaries, hobby clubs, and key information onto their cards.

4. Choose the right method for the right person.

5. Warm up longcold contacts.

How to find targeted individuals:

1. Focus on what you want to achieve and how people can help you.

2. Use your network partners to find suitable companies.

3. Gather key information on these companies.

4. Figure out who is the one with the power to hire you.

5. Find people connections and common areas of interest.

Reaching targets through network partners:

1. Find and persuade the best partner for your targeted individual.

2. Engineer an introduction.

3. Build wordofmouth exchanges about yourself.

Reaching targets directly:

1. Decide if you should write a letter or not.

2. Be able to demonstrate your achievements.

3. Have a line ready to get you past the secretary.

4. Act as though you expect to be put through.

5. Be ready to leave a short, persuasive message for the decisionmaker.

Your opening line:

1. Be cheerful, confident and straightforward.

2. Exploit connections and recommendations.

3. Mention common interests.

4. Report news of interest to the target.

5. Wait for a response. Know when to shut up.

6. Write down your opening lines before picking up the phone.

How to be visible without really trying:

1. Ask a question at a conference.

2. Make a point in a meeting.

3. Write letters to your industry magazine.

4. Introduce yourself to lots of people at an industry show or ball.

5. Buy people a drink at the bar at a lecture.

6. Discuss a book with an industry leader.

7. Wear bright ties.

8. Make people laugh.

9. Have an opinion on everything. (But keep an open mind)

10. Hand out an unusual business card.

11. Recast your CV to be a little different.

12. Take up an unusual hobby. (But not too unusual)

13. Don’t overlook using the email and Internet to communicate your cause.

Are You Guilty of Stinkinก Linkinก Thinkinก?

Are You Guilty of Stinkinก Linkinก Thinkinก?

by: John Gergye

Do you know what kind of sites are suitable link partners for your site?

If you do give yourself a gold star since many seem not to. At least based on the questions I get.

You see most think small. Too small. And limit the potential universe of perfectly good linking partners.

In fact many seem to think relevant means กsites exactly like mineก. So if they had a site about กjuggling midget circus clownsก the small thinkers would say they could only trade links with other juggling midget circus clown sites.

Hogwash.

I call this stinkinก linkinก thinkinก and frankly it drives me crazy! Because there are any number of related sites that have little to do with juggling midget circus clowns that are still perfectly good link partners. Because their visitors are just like the ones the owner of the clown site covets.

Remember too you typically get three things out of any link trade

PR (pagerank)

Traffic

Link Reputation (from the link text you use)

Almost any link trade should give you PR and Link Rep. While trading links with relevant sites will get you traffic. Some more than others naturally.

But Here’s the Big Idea: When you think relevant you really want to think in terms of related families of sites.

In the case of juggling midget circus clowns that would include

personal clown sites

clown training

balloon sculpting

face painting

clown costumes

Broadening the scope a tad …

circus companies

family circus

ringmaster schools

circus books and videos

A bit further afield would be …

juggling sites

juggling suppliers

juggling training site

plus if any such sites exist …

lion tamers

trapeze artists

mime

fire eating

But I’d even go as far as …

kids entertainment

birthday party sites

or magicians even.

All of which says the juggling midget circus clown site owner has a whole world of potential link partners that would be able to deliver up appropriate traffic. And even if one didn’t flood her site with traffic getting two out of three (PR and Link Reputation) still ain’t bad.

Okay but say you’re drawing a blank when it comes to related sites. Here’s a short cut that can light your linking efforts on fire. Since it gives you a quick feel for appropriate types of sites to approach for links.

Type กYOUR KEYWORD resourcesก (with the quotes) into the Google search box and hit enter. Obviously replacing YOUR KEYWORD with your focus or theme keyword phrase.

This search will return all sorts of links pages and directories. Clicking on the listings returned will quickly reveal related types of sites others are using as link partners.

For instance entering กclown resourcesก returned among others this site www.clownresourcedirectory.com. By itself this one alone would give the owner of the juggling midget circus clowns all the relevant site ideas she’d ever need. Plus it can turn up some decent linking partners too!

So banish stinkinก linkinก thinkinก from your mind right now. Don’t handcuff your linking efforts by thinking small. Instead think big. Expand your linking universe like this and soon you’ll expand the number of links you’ve got to ride to higher Google rankings.

ข7 Insider Tips To Joint Venture Successข

ข7 Insider Tips To Joint Venture Successข

by: Ewen Chia

Most marketers miss out on huge chunks of available profits by not doing enough joint ventures.

It’s the easiest way to leverage on resources you wouldn’t otherwise have.

There’re probably two reasons why joint ventures are not used fully. These are the fear of work and fear of failure. But do you know, you’ve failed in the first place by having this mindset?

While I’m not here to preach, I do want to emphasize, no marketer is ever an island. You’ve got to leverage your time and resources with fellow marketers to improve yourself and to maximize your success.

The magic word here is leverage.

Leverage everything you do, including joint venture, which is one of the most powerful forms of leverage you can ever tap on.

Carry this mindset as you read the rest of this article and apply the 7 basic tips as revealed…

These are the things I learned from my own joint venture experiences and I want to share them with you. It’s not just airy talk. I’ve done it.

For example, if you want to discover how I got 19 top marketers on my side for a product like ขResale Rights Secretsข http://ResaleRightsSecrets.com, keep your eyes to this article as mentioned.

If you’re all set to create profitable joint ventures, here are the top 7 insider tips to get them going:

Tip 1: Be Sincere And Build Relationships

I live by the principle that basic courtesy and sincerity is a must in any relationship, especially with your joint venture partners.

Be sincere. Be courteous. Be honest.

Trust begets trust.

Don’t look at your potential partner as just someone you can tap on, builf the contact with sincerity and friendliness.

This way you can build a relationship to last a lifetime, as opposed to a onetime partnership.

Tip 2: Think LongTerm

This follows closely to the above setting of building relationships.

You can joint venture continuously whenever each one has a beneficial product or promotion. The key’s to create joint ventures for life, not just once off.

Tip 3: Don’t Give Up

I know it’s disappointing when you don’t get responses from potential joint ventures partners. But don’t forsake the cause because of a few failures, you may never know when you hit the goldmine.

It’s the same as looking for a job. While you won’t get every interview you sent out for, getting the one good one is what’s important.

Spread your eggs and just do it. Contact as many potential partners as you can and you’ll surely get results.

Tip 4: Always Be On The Lookout For Opportunities

Another way to make joint ventures work for you is to participate in them instead. Like yourself, many marketers are also looking for partners to work with, the problem’s where do you find them?

Forums. Forums are the absolute best places to network and seek likeminded people for potential joint ventures.

There’s no advertising cost and you can be on the frontline of new opportunities simply by scanning forums in your niche.

Here’s a list of high traffic marketing forums you can tap on: http://www.expage.com/hightrafficforums

Or simply join the internet marketers’ inner circle group called the Warrior Forum. The exposure and benefits you can get from there are tremendous.

While it’s a private forum, you can get a complimentary secret pass through ขMoney & Power: An Interview With Allen Saysข.

Allen’s also the founder of the Warrior Forum and you can find him actively moderating the forum there too: http://InstantMarketingSecrets.com/moneypower/

Tip 5: Be Clear In Your Communication

When you’re approaching potential joint venture partners, it’s very important not to beat about the bush or sound overly hypedup.

Tell them the basic proposal and what they can gain, and leave out the big details unless they request for more information.

The phrase ขShort, Sweet And Simpleข couldn’t be more relevant here.

Tip 6: Be Different

In order to get profitable joint ventures set up, you need to be different.

This is especially true if you were to approach the big names. They get tons of joint venture proposals daily, and what’s to make them accept yours?

Be different. Give them something others are not offering.

I really personalize my proposals and lay out the biggest benefits they can get…out of a onetime effort.

For example, one major benefit out of many I gave was master resale rights and 100% p.rofits for ขResale Rights Secretsข http://ResaleRightsSecrets.com

No one was doing what I did, so it became unique.

Tip 7: Be Irresistible

The last thing I learned was the importance of packaging irresistible offers, even for joint ventures partners.

Treat them like the customer. Create irresistible deals to get the joint venture going. Provide a host of benefits and be responsive. Every one enjoys being treated well, especially valued joint venture partners.

Well I’ll be rounding up here, hope you found these tips to be useful. Now go for those joint ventures!

How To Take Advantage Of Your Competition

How To Take Advantage Of Your Competition

by: Rich Hamilton, Jr

When people market their business, they pay little attention to their competition. However, they can learn a lot from them. Your competition plays a large role in your business and in your marketing efforts, so don’t ignore them.

There is an old saying, กKeep your friends close, keep your enemies closerก. In this case, your enemy is your competition. You shouldn’t look at your competition as an enemy, but, as a guide or a valuable tool.

Your competition can be an asset to your business. I want you to think about this for a minute, your competition is like having a one stop shopping center, they have it all. Let me give you an example, take a look at your fearsome indirect competition, they have it all. They may have targeted an area of the market that youกve missed, on the web thatกs not hard to do.

Who Are Their Link Partners

One day when I was analyzing my competition I immediatley noticed something about their link partners, a lot of them were different, but some were the same. Let me give you an example, if you were to take three of your competitors, you may only find a few of them with the same link partners, other than that, a large portion of your competitionกs link partners will be different.

Once youกve found out who your competitorกs link partners are, persuade them to link to you. By getting your competitionกs link partners to link to you, it will take some of your competitionกs traffic away and give it to you, bringing targeted traffic to your web site.

How do find your competitionกs link partners? A couple of ways, one is you can use software like Arelis. Arelis will retrieve all the web sites that are linked to your competitor in minutes, saving you a boatload of time. Another way to find your competitorกs link partners is by using Marketleapกs Link Popularity Tool, which is free to use.

Who Are Their Affiliates

Another way to take advantage of your competition is to find out who their affiliates are. If you offer an affiliate program, this may be an ideal strategy for you. Track down your competitionกs affiliates and persuade them to promote your product or services, instead of your competitorกs.

If your competitors offer their affiliates a lower commission percentage than you, then you already have the upper hand. How? Affiliates are always looking for away to make more money and by offering them a higher commission percentage, theyกll be able to increase their affiliate profits.

How do you find your competitionกs affiliates? You can use the same methods to find their affiliates, as you would trying to locate their link partners, by using Arelis and/or Marketleapกs Link Popularity Tool.

Spying On Your Competition

Thanks to the power of the internet, spying on your competition couldn’t be any easier. You can easily find out what their marketing angle is, what they have for products, how much they are charging for their products, and any new products that they may be working on.

If you were to go to your competition offline and evaluate their establishment, while taking notes on their products, you would immediately draw attention to yourself and get thrown out of the store. There is nothing worse than letting your competition know you are keeping tabs on them, but on the internet, itกs completely anonymous. Your competition will never know you are there or what your doing there.

When you pay a visit to your competitionกs web site, the first thing you want to know is, what their weaknesses and their strengths are. That way, you can capitalize on the opportunity of making their weaknesses, your strengths.

Are You SURE Your Link Partners Still Link to You?

Are You SURE Your Link Partners Still Link to You?

by: John Gergye

It’s a fact. While most link partners are scrupulously honest a few are little more than link scam artists. They’ll take a link from you to them. Put up your link back. But then when you’re not looking take yours down.

They win. You lose.

Now I’m not saying this happens a lot. But it does happen. And if you’re the type this would irritate, you’ve got to have a way to keep your link partners honest.

You do so by monitoring your links. Not like a neurotic every day unless you want to. But more like a checking the oil in your car. Maybe once a month. Or every six weeks. You know just to keep things on the up and up?

Now sure, if you’ve got nothing better to do, you can do this checking by hand.

Keep a list of link partners.

Note the page your link appears on.

One by one go to the sites, scan the page and eyeball your link. Up front and personal.

Of course if you’re like me, you’re constantly running out of day before running out of work. So who has time for that?

Besides why do it the hard way when there are some ready made, inexpensive or free even, tools to automate the task for you? Some are loaded with features with a price to match. Others do one thing and do it well monitor your links.

Here’s a quick list of some options.

Link Check Pro

http://www.linkcheck.net/

Reciprocal Link Checker 1.0

http://www.rebrandsoftware.com/showsoftware2.asp?soft_id=18

Reciprocal Link Monitor

http://caribbeanmarketing.net/reciprocal/

Reciprocal Manager

http://reciprocalmanager.com/

Automatic Link Checker

http://www.softbizscripts.com/automaticlinkcheckerscriptfeatures.php

Reciprocal Link Spider

http://www.reciplinks.com/

Now you can scurry off and check out each of these and try to decide which might be right for you.

Or if you prefer I can make it easy for you

The Envelope Please…

My favorite and the one I use is

Reciprocal Link Monitor

http://caribbeanmarketing.net/reciprocal/

I like this one because it runs on your desktop, it’s brain dead simple to use and it’s sole mission in life is to monitor links. Even better since it’s been sold with reprint rights, it can be found online dirt cheap.

It’s so easy to use my 80 year old dad could almost do it.

All you do is create a text file of the URLs where your link is supposed to be. (If you’ve got more than one site then create one for each.)

Import that text file into Reciprocal Link Monitor.

Add the exact URL you want it to find on your partners page.

Then unleash Reciprocal Link Monitor and let the software do it’s thing.

No muss. No fuss. Check as often as you like.

The Runner Up…

Like a junk yard dog Automatic Link Checker is ever vigilant. Ever watchful.

What some may especially like about this one is it automatically checks your links for you DAILY. And sends you a report of what it does or doesn’t find.

Plus it’s cheap.

Even better the brilliant minds behind Automatic Link Checker will install it for peanuts.

If you admire constant vigilance, then this one is for you.

The Deal Beyond the Deal

But wait. There’s a second application here we don’t want to overlook.

You see, while it’s proper protocol to let your new links partner know you put their link up, you’ll soon discover not everyone can be bothered. Leaving that little painintheneck task of verification up to you.

Well, let’s eliminate it. Here’s how…

When on the prowl for new links (and you are nearly every day, right?) create a list of the links pages of recent link solicitations. Quickly check them with Reciprocal Link Monitor. That’s right let the software check for the presence or absence of new links each day or two. This way you’ll be aware of new links whether your new partner lets you know or not.

So this is how you can rest easy and KNOW for sure that your link partners still link back to your site. I’ll leave it up to you to decide what to do with those link rustlers who once did but now don’t.

Understanding What Reciprocal Linking Means

Understanding What Reciprocal Linking Means

by: Dirk Wagner

If you have been marketing on the internet for any length of time you have surely heard that reciprocal linking is a great way to boost your google page rank as well as your search engine ranking. But what does reciprocal linking actually mean?
Reciprocal linking is a joint venture of sorts between you and another website owner to exchange links on each others websites. The benefits of reciprocal linking is getting targeted traffic directed to your website and viceaversa. Don’t be afraid to put your competitors website on your links page, especially if they have a high Google page rank. Linking to your competitors will actually help you. For example do a search on Google for your keyword(s) and find your competitor with the number 1 ranking position, now check their links page. You will more than likely find other websites that are sending them quality traffic, as well as other potential reciprocal link partners for your website.
Will any websites link do? No! Nonrelevant links won’t help you with Google. Try and stay within your ขnicheข market.
When looking for potential reciprocal link partners there are few things you can do. Using search engines as mentioned above is a very good way to go about getting reciprocal link partners. Visit the top 10 or 20 sites ranked in Google and yahoo, and do some research on their link partners. Some other things to consider are sites with quality content, articles, reports, ebooks, anything that is original. Look for websites that stay within their ขnicheข, you don’t want link partners that offer everything under the sun and no real substance to their website or business. These types of sites don’t usually last to long on the internet. Two other great free tools for researching reciprocal link partners is the Google and Alexa toolbars. Within the Google toolbar you have the ability to check the page rank Google has assigned to a potential link partner, the higher the page rank the more traffic and quality content that particular website offers. The Alexa toolbar shows you the traffic rank of a potential link partner. Any website within your niche that is that is ranked under a hundred thousand is a good potential link partner.
Now you know how to find link partners, what should you do? Most sites offer you a webpage on their website where you can add your links manually. You fill out a short form with your website url, description, email address and submit it to the webmaster for consideration. You in return add their particulars to your site and with in a day or two after they have had time to find their link on your site you should get an email from the webmaster that says they have added your link. It is that easy. However, with some sites you may have to send a reminder if they have not responded with a week or so. If you still get no response simply delete their link and move on. If they can not show you some common courtesy to bother to let you know that your link was approved or not then you really don’t need them as a partner.
To review, use search engines to find potential link partners with your niche. Research these sites for quality content. Use the Google and Alexa toolbars to find high traffic and high page rank sites to link to. Fill out a short form and start all over again. Remember your looking for quality not necessarily quantity with reciprocal linking. Good Luck.

Microsoft Business Solutions VAR/Partner Selection

Microsoft Business Solutions VAR/Partner Selection – overview for IT Director/Manager/Controller

by: Andrew Karasev

Microsoft Great Plains and Microsoft CRM become more and more popular, partly because of Microsoft muscles behind them. Now Great Plains is targeted to the whole spectrum of horizontal and vertical market clientele. Small companies use Small Business Manager (which is based on the same technology – Great Plains Dexterity dictionary and runtime), Great Plains Standard on MSDE is for small to midsize clients, and then Great Plains serves the rest of the market up to big corporations. Microsoft CRM is extremely scalable and fits to all the market niches.

It is always good idea to install everything on your own however Great Plains requires combination of computer networking, some programming, good accounting/distribution/logistics/reporting background so it is not a surprise that Microsoft Business Solutions requires their customers to have specially assigner Microsoft Great Plains Partner/VAR/Reseller to serve the account.

If you are IT Director/Controller who has the dilemma of proper partner selection – read this and you will have the clues on where to look further.

1. Local partners if you are in the remote area there is often seen the opinion that local partner is the best choice. Consider this however as a contra argument local partners maybe tiny with one/few consultants and they may not serve you adequately when you have somewhat complex such as Manufacturing, complex Project Accounting needs, integration with UNIXbased legacy system, etc.

2. MidSize partners in Major Business Metros – these companies were classical Great Plains VARS/Resellers with balanced application consulting and technical expertise. Please, consider these points, however: in recent recession most of such partners were bought or merged with big auditing companies and lost their flexibility, plus their consulting fee went up due to the fact of belonging to big conglomerates.

3. Nationwide partners with local representative offices. This maybe a very good option, if you need kind of reliability and complete expertise missing parts could be taken from different location with this specialization. However the hourly rates are probably the highest among the first three.

4. OneProjectManager partner with Offshore consultants – Well this is very new type of partners and you potentially can save a lot of money if you are risk taker hourly rate is usually lower, price of the failure maybe higher.

5. Nationwide partner with tiny local representation, serving via remote support. We are in this category, so let me tell you couple of good points here. Companies like ours have to specialize in order to do excellent job in what we claim is our specialization (technology challenging projects with heavy customization needs). Serving via remote support lets us keep reasonably low rates and often go for fixed bids.

Also couple of hints about how do you switch the partner. It is actually more easy than you may think you just send the new proposed partner the letter in free format saying that you would like to switch to you as my Microsoft Business Solutions partner and this is it.

Book Summary:

This article is based on the following book:

Effective Networking for Professional Success: กHow to Make the Most of Your Personal Contactsก

by Rupert Hart, Stirling Books, 1997

ISBN 0 949 142 09 3

125 pages

We are all ขselfemployedข now.

Today there is absolutely no job security. We are living in an age of corporate downsizing, and freelance consultants, or selfemployed workers are growing by the day. Networking is one skill you need to practice to get ahead and survive these uncertain times.

Wisdom in a Nutshell:

Networking is essential for both new jobs and business contracts.

Effective networking is 12 times more effective than answering advertisements

Advertising is becoming ineffective except on a large scale.

Networking helps you find hidden opportunities and can set you apart from the competition.

An indirect approach is better than a direct one. Use someone you know to introduce you to your target contact. Never go straight to your target without a gobetween who will put in a good word for you.

You can overcome your natural shyness, your fear of using people, and your fear of rejection.

The 3 key networking techniques are:

Build a network of partners to keep an open eye and ear for new opportunities for You.

Reach targeted individuals in two ways: directly or indirectly.

Build visibility by raising your profile. Go to every social gathering you possibly can.

Building your network is an ongoing process. You need to increase your range of contacts constantly.

Planning your campaign:

Define your objective

Select the right technique

Understand that ขdeal flowข or your number of prospects must be great in order to bag one new business contract.

Identify your target

Work out your positioning. This is a short statement of what you are about, what you can offer.

Think about what you can do for your network partners in exchange for information and contacts.

Building Network partners:

Talk to everyone you know about opportunities

Clarify what network partners can and will do for you

Know which contacts to build into network partners

Find those friendly network spiders, those types of people who just seem to know everyone.

Use the telephone.

How to grow and refresh your network:

Go out of your way to be where people are.

Get into the habit of being talkative.

Get the contact details of people you meet. Not just exchanging business cards but stapling information like birthdays, anniversaries, hobby clubs, and key information onto their cards.

Choose the right method for the right person.

Warm up longcold contacts.

How to find targeted individuals:

Focus on what you want to achieve and how people can help you.

Use your network partners to find suitable companies.

Gather key information on these companies.

Figure out who is the one with the power to hire you.

Find people connections and common areas of interest.

Reaching targets through network partners:

Find and persuade the best partner for your targeted individual.

Engineer an introduction.

Build wordofmouth exchanges about yourself.

Reaching targets directly:

Decide if you should write a letter or not.

Be able to demonstrate your achievements.

Have a line ready to get you past the secretary.

Act as though you expect to be put through.

Be ready to leave a short, persuasive message for the decisionmaker.

Your opening line:

Be cheerful, confident and straightforward.

Exploit connections and recommendations.

Mention common interests.

Report news of interest to the target.

Wait for a response. Know when to shut up.

Write down your opening lines before picking up the phone.

How to be visible without really trying:

Ask a question at a conference.

Make a point in a meeting.

Write letters to your industry magazine.

Introduce yourself to lots of people at an industry show or ball.

Buy people a drink at the bar at a lecture.

Discuss a book with an industry leader.

Wear bright ties.

Make people laugh.

Have an opinion on everything. (But keep an open mind)

Hand out an unusual business card.

Recast your CV to be a little different.

Take up an unusual hobby. (But not too unusual)

Don’t overlook using the email and Internet to communicate your cause.

10 Steps to Joint Venture Setup and Success

10 Steps to Joint Venture Setup and Success

by: Stephen Mistretta

The goal of this article is to show you how to start and maintain a successful Joint Venture Program.

1. Choosing Good Partners

One of the keys to a successful JV is to pick high quality and high traffic sites with which to partner. In this case, and below, we will be using the example of selling an Ebook that you have created. The topic of this particular Ebook is ขBass Fishing.ข An easy way to find potential JV partners is to go to Google and type in the top three terms related to your topic. In our example we type in ขBass fishingข Large mouth Bass and Small mouth Bass. With the size of the Internet, and the searching capabilities of Google, you can write your Ebook on almost any subject and find a large list of websites that cover it. I suggest starting with a group of 50 sites, total, with which to work.

2. Choosing Quality Sites

Look for Quality growing sites within your niche market.

Once you get a list of sites (I suggest you break them down into groups of five) you should then go to www.Alexa.com and download their toolbar. Check each site’s overall growth rate and use the ขwaybackข feature to get an idea about how much work they have put into the site. Do not be surprised if there is no data available in a number of the categories; Alexa measures growth rates of only the most rapidly growing sites.

You want to find the highest traffic growth sites possible. Out of your first five sites pick the top two growth sites and put them to the side for future use. Take the other three sites and, using the downloadable Google tool bar (http://toolbar.google.com), find out the page rank of the sites. If the page rank is lower than five I suggest putting them into your ขTo contact later pileข If the page rank is five or higher put them into your contact file.

3. Contacting Smaller Sites First

Contact the smaller slower growing sites first. The reason I suggested, putting the top two growth sites out of each five to the side is because you are much more likely to get a JV and reciprocal link from a smaller site when you are first starting out. Once your site has reached a page rank of five or above AND with at least 10+ back links to quality sites you can then contact the bigger sites. Lets face it, not only do the sites that sell your Ebook want to make a percentage of each sale, they also want to increase their PR ranking and number of quality linking partners. If you go to the bigger sites on day one you are much more likely to get a ขnoข than if you build your site rankings and links first. Big sites, above all, don’t want to have their rankings go down. So really do your JV homework and linking prior to contacting them. (OK I am finished preaching about that!)

4 Write a Professional Contact Letter.

One of the keys to a successful JV is to prepare a professional contact letter that clearly states the benefits (percentage of sale) that the JV partner will receive. Another key point to state is how many sites you are linked with and their average page ranking. (Remember: five or above). It is imperative that you make your letter short, concise and clearly stating the benefits to them. This is also the time to mention the fact that you will provide the partner site with all the necessary ad copy, pictures, banners and ongoing emails that they will need to promote your product so they can get paid. Before contacting the JV partner you will also want to set up an affiliate program through www.shareasale.com or www.clickbank.com. My point is: the simpler you make things for the JV partners the more positive responses you will have.

5. Making A Show of Good Faith.

It is a very good idea prior to contacting potential JV partners to create a link on your site to the potential partner’s site. Try to use their logo or links they have already created. If there is a copyright notice on the site, create a testbased ad instead. Once you set up the link, preferably on your partner’s page or home page at the bottom, you should contact each site. See our www.HomeBusinessSuccess.biz site for an example.

6. Follow up Follow up Follow up.

It is extremely important to follow up until you get a definite answer, yes or no. I suggest that you give the prospective JV site a call the day after you send the email. One thing to remember also is that with spam filters today some of your emails will get filtered out. When you call do not be totally shocked to hear they did not receive your email. If they did not receive the email ask them if you can send a copy of the email to them immediately. Give them your email address and ask them to add it to their address book so future emails will not be blocked.

7. Notification of Sales

Set up an automated email to notify the JV when they make a sale.

It always blows my mind that people don’t do this. Think about it, if you got a short email every time you made a sale for someone you are JV partnered with, wouldn’t it motivate you even more to sell the product? I look forward to opening my email and seeing how many sales I made. It is like Christmas every day! Please do not overlook this simple but important and effective way to motivate your JV partners. Jeff wrote an excellent article on this specific topic which is listed on our website under ขJeff’s Opinionข. It is a great read and contains valuable information. I suggest you check it out.

8. Praise Where Praise Is Due

When your JV partner makes their first sale, email them and congratulate them. This is an excellent time to introduce new products for additional ventures as well as a great opportunity to make some suggestions about placement of your ad. Both of you would benefit even more from your ad being placed in the upper left of the JV partners’ website. This is one of the top 3 grossing areas in which to put and ad. Your JV partner might not be as knowledgeable in some areas as you are, so go ahead ask for better positioning and assist them with any relatively quick tasks that you can to help them get more traffic.

9. Starting a Newsletter For Your JV Partners.

This is an excellent tool for introducing new products. You can also use this tool to form competition between your JV partners to see who can sell the most of your products. It is also a great idea to include any new partner sites in your newsletter. This will help motivate the new JV partners. A newsletter is great for building a sense of community. When preparing the newsletter try to include at least one article about Internet marketing, one on your niche area, one listing any current specials, one listing new products you are selling for other people/sites and finally one open area for facts, questions, and suggestions from your JV partners. Remember, the more you involve your JVs and include them in decisions, the more they will want to sell your products. Post issues of the newsletter on a page in your site. The more content you have about your niche area the better. Also include any testimonials from both clients and JV partners. Please remember: high quality content is king! People need a reason to keep coming back to your site. Provide them with new articles at least every two weeks. If 100% necessary, you can go to a site such as www.Articlecity.com and find free articles to use on your website. I strongly suggest, however, that you write as many articles as you can yourself. JV partners like to read what you are all about. You can submit your article to sites such as www.Articlecity.com for more traffic and the search engines love content the more high quality the better.

10. Contacting Larger Sites.

Once your page rank is over 5 and you have 10+ linking partners you are ready to contact the bigger sites. You should adjust your JV request letter to reflect the successes you have had since you started your site. Include links in the letter to your JV newsletter page as well as your testimonial page. Be prepared to pay superaffiliates a higher percentage of each sale. The volume of traffic that the site brings you should make up the lost percentage. For example, if you pay your smaller site JV partners 40%, be prepared to pay the large sites at least 50%. A good incentive for the larger sites is a sliding scale JV partnership, such as: for the first 100 of your Ebooks that they sell they get 50%, for the next 150 they get 55% and so on. The key is volume of sales.

www.HBS.biz is currently looking for high quality JV partners for both products and link exchange. Please contact us at Steve@HomeBusinessSuccess.biz if your page rank is 5 or above. We invite niche sites even if not in the Home Business area. If your PR is not five or above but you have some awesome products, we can still crosssell products. I am not meaning to be rude, but please no contact from link farms. We will not exchange links with you.

Now get out there and kick some butt! You can do it! If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me at Steve@HomeBusinessSuccess.biz

How to Approach Potential Link Exchange Partners

How to Approach Potential Link Exchange Partners

by: Mark Hochhaus

Exchanging links can be a great way to build relations with other sites and boost your ranking at the same time. You never know how many friends you can make and what you can learn from them. So letกs get started.

First, you need to create a links page. This links page needs to look and feel the same as the rest of your site and should include instructions on how to link to your site and an example of the description you want. If you use buttons for links, make sure you include a text link somewhere so search engines can find your links page easily.

Now that you have your links page ready, itกs time to start looking for link partners. When searching for link partners, start by searching for your keywords in Google and choose 10 to 20 sites that have content that is related to or can compliment your site. Then, add a text link with a brief description of thier site on your links page.

Now itกs time to send off an email to each site and ask if they will exchange links with you. I have a basic form letter I use for this (form letter at end of article). However, I add something personal about their site, a compliment about something I liked. This lets them know that Iกm not a bot sending spam, but a real person interested in exchanging links that has actually took the time to review their site.

If you have not heard from them in 5 to 7 days, go ahead and send another request but not the same one, change this one. You might mention that you have not heard back from them and that you feel your visitors could benefit from their content. You may also want to see if they have a phone number listed and give them a call. I know, as a seasoned webmaster, I enjoy the phone calls I get. Don’t be afraid to make several contact attempts. Following up on your link requests is essential. However, don’t bombard their email with requests. Always send one last email letting them know you’re removing their link and that maybe you can exchange links another time. Always end on a positive note. The idea is to build business relationships, not upset people.

When you get a response that your request has been accepted, go and verify your link is accurate and that the description is to your liking. Don’t be afraid to ask for an edit if you’re unhappy with the link.

Having a link on a site with a high page rank in Google is better than a page with no or low page rank. Although, until you gain page rank of your own, you may have to settle for links that have low rank. This does not mean you can’t request links from high ranking sites. Just be prepared that they may not accept you until you have high page rank. Save these contacts for a latter campaign.

Next week, we will look into some software that can help you with your reciprocal linking campaign and review some websites designed to help you exchange links.

Form letter example for approaching link partners.

Did You Ever Wonder How The Big Boys In Internet M

Did You Ever Wonder How The Big Boys In Internet Marketing Build Lists Fast?

by: Ryan Blake

Iกm pretty you know by now that building a list of subscribers is one of the MOST important parts of your online business if you want to make any real money.

If you don’t know that, let me remind you that the MONEY is in your LIST thatกs why your credibility and relationship with your subscribers is vital.

Iกm not going to explain why and so on, because I don’t want to lose focus. What I want to share with you is one of the best listbuilding strategies Iกve personally used and it build me over 1500 targeted subscribers in less than 1 week!

If you want to build a list quickly with targeted and responsive subscribers, I strongly urge you to use the coregistration jointventure list building strategy.

Damn now thatกs a long name for a strategy!

Hereกs a great example of a coregistration joint venture which takes up a bit of time and effort but is really worth it in the end you could setup a free giveaway site. A bunch of people get together to offer their best products to everyoneกs subscribers all they need to do is fill out a form to get them.

I know it works because Iกve done it with one of my previous campaigns.

Here are the details on how I did it so that you can copy it in whatever niche market you are involved in:

1. Contact 10 Joint Venture partners or any number of partners you want to have. The more JV partners you have, the more subscribers youกll gain but you risk getting less targeted subscribers.

Hereกs why:

If a subscriber subscribes to 10 lists, itกs a very high possibility that he (or she) will unsubscribe because of too many subscriptions. But if you have 5 JV partners, heกll be receiving emails from 5 people only. The only problem here is that youกll only have 5 people to promote the promotion for you.

2. When you contacted your potential JV partners, you MUST state very clearly:

i. What are the benefits that they can expect. Can they make money? Can their list grow? ii. What they are expected to do. If you need them to email to their list, tell them so. Don’t do it at the last minute.

iii. What do they need to offer to be in this promotion? Normally, each of the Jv partners will offer a product to entice the subscribers to subscribe to their mailing list.

3. Prepare all the necessary materials. These will include:

i. Creating the webpage where anyone who is interested in getting the products offered for free can subscribe to the contributorกs (your JV partners) list.

ii. Programming script to make sure that itกs working perfectly that each subscription will go to your JV partner.

iii. Email templates for your Jv partners to send to their subscribers.

iv. Email support for the new subscribers. Sometimes, they might face challenges like failing to subscribe or trouble with downloading the products. Itกs your responsibility to manage all of these.

4. Thanking your Jv partner. Youกll probably agree with me that you managed to build a list quickly with targeted subscribers is because of the help you get from your Jv partners. Tell them how much you appreciated their help and if possible, offer an extra incentive to them. You can promote their products to the new list that you have built from this promotion to show your appreciation for your Jv partners contribution.

Now that youกve got yourself a great targeted list of Subscribers the next step is to keep them coming back, for A loyal list will bring in the money in future.
