Many internet entrepreneurs need to often stop and reflect on their results. A bit like an engineer checking your energy circuits. Finding where the most flow and resistance occurs. Replenishing your batteries so that you have more energy to input into your internet marketing. So take some time now to rest and ask the question, กwhat is my energy level right now?ก If your eyes, neck and brain ache then it is time to replenish your batteries. Get up, walk and stretch your body. Yet what if you are feeling disillusioned? Spending long hours on the internet but still lacking results. You write great salescopy but still no sales. You need to look at the energy vibrations you are subconsciously sending out.

Here are some ways to input more energy into your internet marketing efforts.

1. Get Rid Of The Mosquito Mind

The mosquito mind is the annoying negative mindset that we all have. It whines and bites when we are uncertain, scared and frustrated. Being bitten once by a mosquito is OK. Same with a negative thought. Yet being bitten all night by a mosquito makes you grumpy and tired. Same with continual negative thinking. It drains you and makes you grumpy. So it is time to swat that annoying mosquito and rub on repellent. So when you feel a negative thought start to bite, just give your forehead a good slap. It will help get rid of the whining negative thought.

2. Reverse The Energy Polarity.

We can transform negative actions by reversing their polarity. Find their positive equivalents. Everything in nature has a negative and positive polarity that creates both balance and flow. Find the positive equivalents in your life negatives. Here is an example based around two work negatives relating to a struggling internet entrepreneur.

Negative1:

My desk is a mess and I cannot find important documents. I stress out.

Positive Reversal

My work space is organised with a good filing system that I enjoy using.

Negative2:

Worried about paying bills, always struggling to keep ahead.

Positive Reversal.

My bills are easily paid on time. I enjoy peace of mind.

By adding these positives together, we start to create a positive energy flow around workspace and money. For example, Positive1 + Positive2 = กa organised workspace with a good filing system I enjoy using. My bills are easily paid on time. I enjoy peace of mindก. This looks more exciting then focusing on the negative equivalents. This positive statement forms part of your new desired outcome. It adds voltage to your energy levels.

3. Programme Your Subconscious With Positive Outcomes.

Get very clear on your desired outcome first. Describe it. Picture it. Fill in the details. Then instruct your subconscious mind to find ways to manifest this desired outcome. For example: กMy desired outcome is to have an organised workspace with a good filing system I enjoy. My bills are easily paid on time and I enjoy peace of mind. Subconscious mind, find me ways to fulfil this desire. Thank youก. Then just carry on with the rest of your day. Your mind will start to work behind the scenes to fulfil your order.

So start making a list of all your negatives. Find their positive equivalents. Then start to create business changes based around these positives. Become the change you desire.

A great series of articles showed up in this weekกs Time Magazine focusing, for a change, on happiness and its effects on us physically and mentally over time.

Many studies are finding that the left prefrontal lobe of the brain is most active when people are at peace and happy. ‘the Biology of Joyก Michael D. Lemonick, Time January 17. The article points out encouraging evidence that a positive state overwhelms negativity in our lives and generally leans toward a healthier, more productive life.

So I began thinking about how a lot of reporting and focus on the negative aspects of doing business online in the last year might have an affect on a new business ownerกs success rate.

If the body is healthier because of a positive, happy mental state, is your business better off when you keep your eye on the incredible possibilities and opportunities of owning and operating a business online?

It stands to reason that if you read only articles that talk about how hard things are getting for online marketers, you won’t be very gung ho to progress with your business out of sheer dread over facing those obstacles.

But Iกd like to take a step back from the micro problems of the day (there will always be obstacles to overcome) and program your left prefrontal lobe for success in your internet business.

When people talk about problems we all face as internet business owners, the problems and their กweightก compared to other problems in our world need to be put into perspective.

Yes, while there are obstacles in the way of any success story, on or offline, that is not the point. The point is that we are in the midst of a universal expansion of business and commerce online. And having a successful online business beats out anything else for the freedom and independence owners of such businesses experience.

Fact: There is pure, golden opportunity running rampant on the internet. The internet boom is not over it hasn’t even truly begun. We are in an infant state of technology and new problems for online businesses meet new solutions at lightening speed over any other form of business known to man.

We always see statistics of how many businesses fail compared to those who gain measurable, enduring success. How odd that we focus on the negative without proper perspective.

Did you know that the number of people starting businesses is so large that you could take away 90% of the กfailuresก and the 10% that is left could be shoved (barely) into a mega sports stadium where money rains down on the crowd heavily and constantly?

I know people making a living on Ebay and others who are making over $200,000 a month from their homes. Little oneperson operations with massive incomes, low overhead, and true freedom that relatively few people ever experience in life.

But a lot of people who would be great at an online business never really see success because of the perception that online business is somehow harder than what they are doing now. How wrong that is! A change in perception is in order.

Isn’t it easier to picture yourself being able to walk right into a massive sports arena where tens of thousands of people are enjoying moderate to massive success, rather than picturing how hard it would be to be the 10% (of what?) that succeed?

When you hear someone say ก97% of new businesses fail to make a dimeก you need to say ก97% of HOW MANY new businesses?ก

Factor in that most people call themselves a business and have no business doing so. Figures like the above are results from anyone and everyone who has ever joined a network marketing company or filled out surveys for money. Those aren’t real businesses simply because they filled out a form to join something.

So take heart. Creativity, hard work, and a positive outlook on the plethora of opportunity that presents itself daily on the net should encourage anyone with drive to further their online business goals.

Keep your left prefrontal lobe buzzing with all the positive aspects of doing business online. Remember that virtually anything you do online is better than working most real world jobs from factory work up to corner office puppet master.

The freedom and opportunity is what itกs all about. Never forget that! The alternative is unthinkable.

No, this isn’t going to be a sermon or anything … don’t worry about that! Iกm no preacher, so I wouldn’t even think of trying; but what I do have is faith in myself and faith in the fact that I can be successful on the internet.

Now, Iกm not talking about your regular, everyday takeitforgrantedbecauseIcandoitก faith in yourself.

Iกm talking about the faith in yourself that comes from TRULY KNOWING that you absolutely can and will achieve a goal that you want!!

That kind of faith in yourself is necessary so that you can conquer all the negativity that comes your way in a day. And it doesn’t matter where the negativity comes from; it could be from your motherinlaw, your husband, it doesn’t matter…as long as you have faith in yourself, you can block that negative energy and divert the danger of it away from yourself.

How, you say?

O.K…. here it comes … the old cliché …

THINK POSITIVE THOUGHTS! : 0 )

It works; believe me, it works. There is so much negative energy in our world today, why would you even want to add to that kind of energy? Because when you add to that (negative) energy, you help to magnify it! Thatกs right, it grows! And why on earth would you want to make more negative energy?!!

That doesn’t make much sense, now does it?

Conversely, when you have positive energy flowing, and others around you are doing the same, it also magnifies itself!! Positive energy begets positive energy and in turn, creates lots more smiles. : 0 )

So letกs get back to the subject at hand. What does faith have to do with marketing?

Hmm … good question.

If you are going to market your product or service, here, on the internet, you had better have faith in what you are marketing because if you don’t, itกs going to show through in your website and advertising and how you are presenting yourself.

If you have faith in yourself, people will see that. They will, in turn, have faith in you also. Itกs all part of that positive energy begetting positive energy thing I was talking about earlier.

Don’t you agree that the person on the receiving end of your website/newsletter/advertisement has to have some faith in you, or they wouldn’t linger?

So you see, faith has lots to do with marketing and marketing has lots to do with faith. Pretty simple when you think about it, eh?

So go and think your positive thoughts for today, but don’t just think them. I want you to really believe those thoughts, so much so that they become reality for you.

I read recently that every human thought originates from either love or fear. The more I thought about it, the more true it became. I began to apply it to business after all, every business success or failure originates ultimately from human thought. This article examines the effects that love or fear can have on your ebusiness is it love, or is it fear, that dominates the way you do business online?

If itกs fear, you fear you’re missing the กone big thingก, and so you attempt to try absolutely everything in case thatกs the thing you’re missing. You read every email that comes in promising business success, and attempt to follow what they suggest.

The only problem is you are attempting to follow several strategies at once, but thereกs only one of you and not enough hours in the day. You end up barely touching the surface of each strategy, and you become disillusioned and despondent. You tell everyone who will listen that everything you have tried simply doesn’t work, and that the Internet is a moneymaking myth.

You are constantly fearful of your competition. You worry they are doing more business than you, that their offer is better than yours, that they will drive you out of business. You try to copy them, and emulate their style, but somehow it just doesn’t work and your heart isn’t in it. You feel like you’re always following some way behind, rather than out in front, leading the pack.

You have no idea where your sales are coming from, and when you have a couple of กdry daysก with no sales at all, you’re panic stricken, and all you can think about is business failure. Youกve been running your business blind, you have no idea whatกs been working well and what hasn’t, so you have no foundation on which to base your decision making, and no faith that what you are doing is working.

You begin to feel unfulfilled, overworked, overstressed, and you can feel yourself burning out. The motivation for your business begins to disappear, and you soon end up with no business.

Instead, if itกs love, you concentrate on Strategy A fully, before even considering B or C. You do your homework first you read all the literature, you know itกs been very successful for many people, and you believe you can do it too. You studiously, deliberately and methodically follow the strategy. Rather than diluting your energy by pouring it into many different moulds, you pour all of it into this one, persistently and with considerable dedication.

You don’t see much happening at first, but you still have faith, and you reexamine the strategy to ensure you are maximizing the possible outcome. Over time, you begin to see the positive results. This reinforces your energy and motivation, and increases the beneficial effects you experience.

You tell everyone who will listen how well it works for you others try it too, and begin to see positive results for their own businesses.

You look for ways in which you can work with your competition for mutual benefit. You think about a JV, and approach your competition with it, even ensuring that the benefits for them outweigh your own. Your competition can see how much benefit your proposal could be for both parties and agree to it. The end result is a highly positive outcome for both sides, and you agree to work more closely together in future.

You concentrate on your own USP, and inject your business with a sense of your own style, confidence, and overall business strategy. You see others beginning to emulate you, which you take as a token of admiration, boosting your selfesteem, and thereby further improving the way you do business. You find yourself leading the marketplace.

You have a couple of dry days, but you know that occasionally this happens for whatever reason, that your targeted traffic comes from multiple sources, which show excellent conversion rates. Instead of fearing business failure, you quickly check everything is okay with your merchant account or payment processor and check your site is functioning normally, and you know sales will pick up normally again very soon. You concentrate your energies instead into new avenues of promotion.

Instead of running your business on fear, and consequently witnessing it shrivelling up and dying, you run it on love you have a passion for what you do, you always take positive action, and the more successful you become, the more it fires that passion.

Your business expands and becomes more successful. And the positive energy from your own business begins to rub off on others.

Have you ever walked into a store or business and felt uncomfortable there for no apparent reason? Have you ever walked into a store all happy and left quite frustrated? How you see feel about yourself is vital to your success and happiness. You can achieve your desired goals with the right tools. A regular mental workout will keep your selfimage in shape.

Self Image

Most of us do not work on our selfimage. We battle against it, disbelieving and ignoring its existence. However it is closely connected to the success or failure of any undertaking. Selfimage is your true opinion of yourself. History repeats itself when we do not attend to the needs of our selfimage. Improve your selfimage by putting the following steps into practice, you will see amazing results.

Selfdiagnosis

Make a list of all the negative thoughts you have about yourself. Things like ขI get up to late, I procrastinate, what if it doesn’t work?ข etc. Then write another list including everything positive about yourself. Make this list longer than the first. Only use positive language. ขI am a good listener, I am always on timeข etc. Now convert your negative to positives. ขI get up lateข becomes ขI can get up earlyข. This new list becomes your active List for Improvement.

Decide on your new Self Image

Using your improvement list, create a new image for yourself. Regularly visualize yourself doing and being everything on your list. Vividly depict the areas of your life you are changing or improving. When you go to bed at night spend 510 minutes watching the new you. You may be thinner, happier, wiser etc. These mental images retrain your selfimage and reinforce your desires. The brain doesn’t differentciate between reality and what is vividly imagined. You can turn your desired images into reality. Decide your new image and get busy mentally creating it.

Focus on success.

Keep a daily diary listing all your successes. As you progress the number of entries will grow. Your selfimage will strengthen and mirror your list of improvements, positively reinforcing the new you.

Work in the Present

Many people dwell on past mistakes or worry about the future. NOW is the only moment you can control. Chris Widener says that time is more important than money. We can always make more money, but never make more time. Move forward at a much faster pace by concentrating on what you can achieve now.

Have a Life Plan.

Make your plan in three sections

How I want to be. Write your list here and add a date when you will achieve each item.

What I want to have. Write a list of things you want to acquire, include photos, and the date you intend to have them.

What I need to do. Here write the plan of how you will achieve the above.

This is goal setting. Ensure your goals are genuine, realistic and well defined.

Affirmations

The fastest way to rejuvenate selfimage is to reinforce it countless times daily. Have flash cards with you, on your desk, in the car, bathroom, next to the bed. Use short affirmations to trigger positive images in your mind.

Set aside time daily to work on your selfdevelopment. With a positive selfimage your strength will grow and your weaknesses diminish. Following the above involves selfdiscipline and a desire to achieve. Be focused and your selfimage and business will soar.

Most of us remember the commercial that said, ขI told two friends, and they told two friends, and so on, and so on, and…ข, well you get the picture. This commercial, which represented Breck Hair Shampoo, ran so many times that even I remember who the commercial represented.

The reason I mention this particular commercial is not because of the number of times it was aired but rather because of the message it was sending. This company knew the importance of potential clients hearing something about their product or service that impressed someone else.

It’s called Word of Mouth and it can make or break the success of almost every aspect of our lives, especially our business lives. In our personal lives, if we like something, we will talk positively about it to others. This, in turn, will show them that this is something good and that they should check it out.

It could be anything from a favourite plant that flowers throughout the growing season, to a fabulous doctor who has the bedside manner of an angel. If we are happy about something, we will likely talk about it to others.

In our business lives, positive word of mouth generates referrals and referrals generate business. So, word of mouth is one of the most important marketing tools that can contribute to our success. What could be better than a customer mentioning how pleased they were with a service you provided to others who may need this service? Free advertising… that’s what word of mouth is.

Not only do we love to be the recipient of positive word of mouth, we should also realize that others are in the same boat as us and rely on word of mouth to help them succeed as well. So, if you like something, be sure to tell others about it, especially if they are in need of something you had a great experience with.

For example, for months I have been trying to find a backup software to use on my new computer. I tried several and was not impressed with how they performed or the extent of their customer service. It would sometimes take over a week to get a response. Well, I finally came across this little, cheapy program that said it would do what I wanted it to do. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try. And… I was very happy with the outcome. At one point I had problems and in one afternoon, after several emails back and forth with the author of the software, I was up and running again… no problem. This tiny little company impressed me so much that I have recommended his software to as many people as possible…including you. Check out the Backup Assistant at http://www.graffman.net.

Word of mouth is also known as a verbal testimonial. The words of praise literally come right from the horse’s mouth. It’s a very powerful recommendation to physically hear someone bestowing the virtues of a certain product or service, or the company behind this great find.

Vocalizing your satisfaction is not the only way to get the word out. With so many people using the Internet to find information, why not include your recommendations on your website. Having a Resources page on your website is a great way to let others know of different things that you would recommend.

Word of mouth can also be in the form of a written testimonial and can benefit both the company that gave you that great service and the recipient. Many companies like to present testimonials for others to see. And, why shouldn’t they? It’s a great way to show people how much others have liked their service. The benefit to you is that each time you say something nice about their service, they may in turn publicize your testimonial on their literature or website. And, they will usually include your name and your company. There you have it… your company’s name is in front of the eyes of potential clients, just because you took the time to say a few nice words about something else.

Now, let’s flip the coin here for a moment. We’ve mentioned about the benefits of positive word of mouth. But, what about the pitfalls of negative word of mouth? If someone spreads the word that your service is fabulous, new business will come your way. However, if you provide a service or product that someone is not happy with, they will either never recommend you or they will tell three times as many people about the negativities they have experienced. Providing an exceptional service or product, coupled with ขbeyond the call of dutyข customer service, can have a positive effect on your business. But, not providing what you customers deserve can bring down the curtain faster than you can blink.

For example, I recently had a run in with a supplier who I would never recommend to anyone, not even my fiercest competitor. This company took over 3 months to provide me with the product I needed. Each time I called their office, I would either get an answering machine and have to wait days to get a reply or I would get the old ข it will be ready by Fridayข response. I was not impressed! In fact, when I did finally get the finished product, I was not at all happy with it. Oh, and I never even got an apology for the delay or the discount I requested because of my displeasure. In short, they seemed to not want my business now or in the future. I think I’ll comply.

Word of mouth is very powerful, both positively and negatively. Of course, we should always strive to gain positive referrals… that’s my goal. It can have a tremendous impact on our success. So… get out there and tell two friends about this article… and so on!

The truth is everyone needs to negotiate. Surprisingly, almost everything we do the moment we get up in the morning until we go to bed involves some type of กnegotiatingก.

I know, you are saying that I have lost my mind, but no, seriously, we do negotiate continuously.

Letกs say, you are 18 years old, live with your parents, yet work. So, you wake up at 6 am and begin a negotiation with your younger brother who is already in the very bathroom that you need in order to take a shower and get ready for work.

To avoid arriving late to work, you quickly offer to pay $5.00 to him to leave the bathroom immediately so that you can take a shower.

Next, you head into the kitchen to negotiate with your mother over your preference for orange juice and toast for breakfast, while she is counternegotiating a complete meal of oatmeal, eggs, milk, and sausage.

Who wins this negotiation is anyoneกs guess.

The point is that all of us constantly negotiate. For example, we negotiate – or should with our car mechanic to lessen the cost of maintenance and repairs.
