Should You Hire a Famous Writer or Write Your Own

Should You Hire a Famous Writer or Write Your Own Articles?

by: Bill Platt

Proven and Exceptional ClickThrough Results

Testing has proven again and again that promotional articles generate more clickthrough traffic than standard ezine advertising. And it is much cheaper than standard ezine advertising, even if you are paying someone else to write and distribute your articles for you.

Promotional articles that are distributed with freereprint rights get published regularly in ezines and on websites and the results are longterm. Both publication outlets generate results, although both outlets generate different patterns of traffic to your site.

Creating Content

Either you know that you are capable of writing your own articles or you feel that you might need to hire a ghostwriter to help you with your task.

If you need a ghostwriter to help you create articles to promote your program, there are literally dozens of companies and hundreds of freelance writers out there that can help you complete your task.

Tips for Selecting Your Ghostwriter

One of my clients asked me the other day whether they should use their own inhouse writer to develop their articles or whether they should hire a famous writer to write their articles for them.

That is a good question. It depends on how many articles you will want to have created for you.

If you plan on creating fewer than ten articles, it might make more sense to hire an already famous, professional writer. So long as your famous writer is known for the type of content you want to have created, then your famous writer will help you get a strong running start in that they already have a good reputation in the field you want your articles written.

If your famous writer is not known in your field, then it does not matter whether you use the famous writer, your inhouse writer, or if you create a pen name for a fictional writer.

Gambling on the Long Term

If your intent is to have more than ten articles created, then it is my suggestion that you should either use your inhouse writer using his or her real name or create a pen name for your inhouse writer.

Whether you use the writer*s real name or a pen name, your decision should be made upon your confidence in your inhouse writer. Sure, you can count on their skills or you would not be considering using their work. The real question you must ask yourself is how long you feel that the inhouse writer will remain in your employment.

There is always a chance that your business will be built on the name of someone who goes to another job, taking his or her name recognition with him or her to the other employer. Using your writer*s real name or a pen name is always a gamble. Weigh all of the factors well before making your decision.

If It Were My Business

If I ran a brickandmortar business in a very competitive marketplace where personalities can shine brighter than the home office, then I would strongly consider using my inhouse writer and providing him or her with a fictional pen name. There is no sense in building a name that will go on to promote your competition.

Manifesting the *Power of Seven*

If you have plans to develop more than ten articles for the promotion of your business, then it does not matter if your writer is already famous in your field.

I am sure that you have heard about the *Power of Seven.*

Many research companies have studied the question of how many times a business must be seen before the customer has confidence enough to spend money with the business.

The research has been conclusive. Seven is the magic number. Once a potential customer has heard of a business seven times, the business has rose above the first major hurdle in attracting the potential customer to their business. After a potential customer has heard of a business seven times, then the potential customer is much more likely to trust the business enough to spend their money with the business.

The *Power of Ten* in Publishing

A writer is very much like a business, and a publisher is very much like a customer. The *Power of Seven* plays an important role in getting the writer*s work published.

However, we cannot count on seven promotional articles to bridge the trust gap with the publisher. While publishers will see most of your articles, as they are made available for publication, usually they will not see seven articles in seven distributions.

Publishers are busy people and they do not check for new articles daily. But, publishers do check for new articles regularly as they need to continuously find materials for publication.

The goal is to send out ten articles to get seven articles seen and read by publishers. Once the publisher reads the seventh article, if the quality of the articles had been good, then the publisher will trust the value of the articles created by the writer.

More Figures Concerning Promotional Article Success

Ironically, the fact that the publisher has seen articles by a particular writer seven times is often good enough to get the writer published. The publisher only needs to read one or two good quality articles by the writer to cement the trust they will have in the writer.

Once the publisher has come to the decision that a writer is good and provides information important to their readers, the publisher will always notice the writer*s name as they are browsing for the next article that they will publish.

With my business, I have been distributing articles for my clients since early 2000. Any writer who has permitted me to submit articles for them for the length of six months remains to be one of my clients. Why do you think that is?

I believe it is because six months worth of article submissions whether done weekly, biweekly or monthly has enabled my client*s to bridge the *Power of Seven* with the publishers and webmasters who receive the articles that I distribute.

Some who distribute weekly cross the *Power of Seven* bridge well before the six months is up and they reaped fast rewards for their hyperdistribution schedule.

Publishers & Webmasters Are the Gateways to Buyers

With my service, I am able to get your articles into the mailboxes of more than 12,000 publishers and webmasters looking for good quality content.

If only 25 publishers with an average of 5,000 readers each reprint an article, then 125,000 potential buyers could read the average article. Add to that fact that several of my client*s get published in ezines that reach more than 700,000 readers, and my clients can reach nearly one million buyers with a single article.

The *Power of Seven* Could Make YOU Famous!

I always suggest that if you are doing more than ten articles, you should use your inhouse writer*s name or a fictional pen name. The reason I say this is that after ten articles, you will be strongly on the road to becoming famous yourself. Once the name used to promote your business has become famous, and then your business will continue to reap the rewards for that famous name for years to come.

How To Increase Your Chances of Getting Your Artic

How To Increase Your Chances of Getting Your Article Published

by: Tameka Norris

Publishers and webmasters can spend massive amounts of time just trying to gather their articles for publication. The simple process of trying to obtain an article can be frustrating.
The longer it takes for the publisher to acquire your article the easier it is for them to walk away. Some publishers aren’t as determined as others and the simple act of procrastination can lead them to never publishing your article.
The easier it is for a webmaster to obtain your article the better chance you have as an writer to send more traffic to your website.
In the time that they couldกve already copied and pasted an article for publication theyกve spent wasting it away on actually trying to get it.
So how can you make webmasters and publishers job 100% easier and increase your chance of getting your article published?
1) By reducing their effort as much as possible. Eliminate the effort theyกll have to make after they realize they want to publish your article.
2) Offer them the option of acquiring your article right after theyกve read it. Give them the benefit of copying and pasting your article immediately. Provide them with instant gratification. No delays.
3) Do the work for them. Give them the opportunity to be as lazy as they can be. Provide them with a preformatted HTML version of your article so they don’t have to spend the extra time doing it themselves. This option is especially useful for webmasters who publish your articles on their website.
4) Don’t stop there. Not only should you offer them an HTML copy, offer a text copy of your article. This makes it very easy if the publisher of your article is being published in an ezine.
5) Make them love you. Offer them the best of both worlds. Eliminate the need for them to request permission to use your article. At most, the publisher should only have to notify you that they are publishing your article.
Bridge the gap and theyกll be coming back for more: http://www.valuablecontent.com/submit.html
The less work a publisher has to do the happier they are, and the more articles they can publish.

Ezines, Ezines Everywhere!

Ezines, Ezines Everywhere!

by: Terri Seymour

There are literally thousands of ezines being published online these days. Sometimes it is hard to know which ones are best for advertising in, reading, subscribing to and so on.

How do we know which ones are good and which ones aren’t? Which ones should we advertise in and what type of advertising is best? How do we know we can trust the publisher?

Answering these questions is not always easy, but there are signs we can look for in an ezine.

Quality Content Quality ezines will contain lots of useful and helpful content. Links, articles, free downloads, marketing and promotion information, helpful tools, etc. are some examples of good content.

Publisher Interaction One thing you want to be aware of is how the publisher interacts with his/her readers. Do they have a section where they ‘talkก to the readers? Are you able to get to know the publisher as well as them showing an interest in getting to know you? An ezine can be a labor of love, but if the publisher does not even take the time to bond with the readers, it might mean that the publisher just wants to make a fast buck!

Limited Ads Look out for ezines that are just a long list of ads. This cheapens the ezine and the quality of advertising. If you are looking for an ezine to advertise in, stick with ezines that contain only about 5 (give or take one or two) ads per issue.

You also want to advertise with a publisher that offers solo ads. Statistically, solo ads are the type of ad that get the most response. Your second choice would be the top sponsor position, which is right at the top of the ezine.

Contact Info I have already seen ezines where I could not even find the publisherกs name, let alone an email address! If someone does not even want you to know their name or email, I hardly think they are going to be there when you need them or take the time to write a quality ezine.

Sales Letter Some publishers will mistakenly use their ezine as just a means of selling their products. They fail to realize that they must build a trusting relationship with their readers rather than just using them to make a quick sale or two. An ezine should be used as a path between publisher and readers, a way to build a relationship of trust and respect.

Consistency Watch for ezines that say published every week and then maybe you get one once or twice a month. If the publisher cannot even deliver an ezine when promised, how can he/she be believed about anything else. Of course, there will be times when we as publishers, for one reason or another cannot get an issue out. A good publisher will either let you know ahead of time or send an explanation as soon as possible. The one you have to watch out for is the one that will send an ezine whenever they feel like it with no consideration for the subscribers.

These are a few of the things to watch for when trying to decide which ezines to advertise in or to give your loyalty as a subscriber.

As you read and look over more ezines, you will see which ones suit your style or your taste, but always keep an eye out for the main points of a good ezine!

I like an ezine with a warm and friendly personality. This, of course would come from the publisher. If the publisher gives the ezine some personality, it makes for much better reading, advertising and enjoyment!

I would just like to recommend a few of my favorite ezines/publishers.

SimpleBiz Ezine Publisher: Livvie Matthews Livvie is a wonderfully warm and funny lady who takes her business seriously and does a great job. She definitely has the personality for a great ezine! http://www.simplebizpublications.com

RIM Digest Publisher: Jan TallentDandridge I have known Jan for years and although she is very friendly and easygoing, she is a nononsense professional. She puts her กRIMMERSก above all else. http://www.rimdigest.com

Ideas By Post Publisher: Alannah Moore I may not have known Alannah as long as some other publishers, but I know her ezine is loaded with tons of great information and resources. Alannah does a great job of putting together a professional ezine. It would be worth your while to take a look. http://www.ideasbypost.com

HomeBizJunction Herald Publisher: Cathy Bryant Cathy has years of experience with ezine publishing and gives her readers what they are looking for, a clean & sharp ezine full of quality content! She is 100% a professional, but makes a great friend as well. http://www.homebizjunction.com

All of these ezines and publishers are an asset to the Internet marketing world and I strongly recommend them. Of course, I am partial to MOE, but the above ezines are excellent also! 😉

10 Benefits Of Submitting Your Articles To Ezines

10 Benefits Of Submitting Your Articles To Ezines

by: Frank bauer

1. Youกll brand your web site, business and yourself by submitting articles to ezines. You could include your name, business name, your credentials, web site address and email address in your resource box.

To find publisher you can submit your articles to, you can simply visit Google and enter a keyword phase that describes your target market (e.g. business owner) plus the work newsletter or ezine: +กbusiness ownerก +newsletter

2. You will become known as an expert on the topics you write about. This will give you and your business extra credibility which will help you compete against your competition.

3. Your article might also be placed on the publisherกs home page. If they publish each issue on their home page this will give you some extra exposure.

To make it easier for the publisher, provide also an URL to a web page with your article on it. The easier it is for the publisher to use your article, the higher the chances that they will do it.

4. You might get extra exposure if the ezine publisher archives their ezine on their site. People might want to read the back issues before they make the decision to subscribe.

5. You will get free advertising. This will allow you to spend your profits on other forms of advertising. You could buy advertisements in other ezines that don’t publish your articles.

6. You might get extra income from people wanting to hire you to write other articles, books, or even ask to speak at seminars. This is a great way to multiply your incom^e.

7. You could allow ezine publishers to publish your articles in their free ebooks. Since people give them away, your advertising could multiply all over the internet.

8. You will get your article published all over the web when you submit it to an ezine publisher that has a free content directory on their web site. Theyกll allow their visitors to republish your article.

Another option would be to submi^t your article to article directories. To find article directories that you can submit your articles to, you can again simply visit Google and search for: กarticle directoryก

9. Youกll gain peopleกs trust. If they read your article and like it, they won’t be as hesitant to buy your product or service. You will then be able to increase your profits.

10. You could get your article guaranteed to run in an ezine. You could agree to run one of their articles in your ezine if, in exchange, they run yours in their ezine. Itกs a win/win situation.

Tip: If your article recommends one of your own resources, offer the publisher a percentage of each sale for publishing your article. This could be done by using a special order link, or if you have an affiliate program, by allowing the publisher use his one affiliate link.

Resources:

To find publishers quick and easy, you can use a service like the Directory of Ezines at: http://add2it.com/see.pl?ezines

To submit your articles to numerous article directories and to save you the time to fill out the forms manually at their sites I personally use and recommend the EzineAnnouncer software. You can find it at: http://add2it.com/see.pl?EzineAnnouncer

Reprint rights to this article are granted, as long as it is not modified and the resources plus this signature remain unchanged.

Fun Free Feed Tools for Both the Publisher and the

Fun Free Feed Tools for Both the Publisher and the Reader

by: Tinu AbayomiPaul

As you’ve probably been reading, there are basically three problems many webmasters have with web feeds (that is, among those who are already familiar with them on a basic level).

The three concerns I hear the most are:

ขHow do I deal with the bandwidth hit?ข

ขIs there a way to include information that isn’t in the automated resource I use to populate my feed without touching any code?ข

and

ขWhere can I find a costeffective, simple way to display feeds on my site?ข

Say Goodbye to Bandwidth Overages with FeedBurner

http://feedburner.com

If you’re a publisher, chances are, you’re familiar with the bandwidth increase that occurs every time your audience reads the latest update to your feed that for some webmasters lead to the possibility of exceeding monthly bandwidth limitations. There’s an easy solution.

Burn your feed with FeedBurner. They’re happy to take the burden off your server. (And yes, they say, FeedBurner is one word.)

Whether you’ve just created your news feed or you have been RSSing for years, you can create a free account at their site. Their service will also:

translate your feed from Atom to RSS or vice versa,

make a browserfriendly page that explains what web feeds are to the new user,

allow you to splice any link into your feed using some of the more popular social bookmarking services.

FeedBurner also allows you to study your demographic by giving you statistics on how many request have been made for your feed contents, down to the item if you like.

Though I offer both the burned version of my feed and the original to my audience, they love the extra information my FeedBurned link provides them.

Social Bookmarking Share More Info with Less Hassle

http://furl.net

http://bloglines.com

http://del.icio.us

Social bookmarking allows you to create a bookmark online, and share those bookmarks via RSS.

Some services even allow you to share your collection of links, as you can do with the service from del.icio.us . Furl.net, newly acquired by LookSmart, also adds the capability of saving an old version of a page you have visited with the bookmark feature. And at Bloglines, you can get ezine subscriptions via feed by subscribing through a special address they give you.

All three of these services can be coupled with FeedBurner to splice external links or other internal links from your own site into the ขburnedข version of your feed.

Display links on your site for free with RSS Digest

http://www.bigbold.com/rssdigest/

Youกve heard about the value of displaying feeds from other sites (with permission of the publisher, of course) on your site. The theory is that the frequently updated headlines add freshness to your site, which results in more frequent visits from search engine spiders. This can lead to better rankings for the site carrying the headlines, and more backlinks for the feed publisher. Everybody wins.

For the most part, I’ve found this to be true, with a feed that frequently updates, at sites that have suitable content for both the visitor and the spiders to enjoy.

The trouble for many smaller web property owners is finding a costeffective manner in which to employ this technique. Most free tools that do this with javascript are fine for site publishers who are using the headlines for content, but if you also want the search engine benefits, it doesn’t help as many spiders don’t register content that appears in this format.

RSS Digest will do this for you in HTML, as recently reported in Search Engine Journal.

It’s not as sophisticated a tool as CARP or RSS Equalizer, but if you want to offer your feed to an audience and they don’t mind using an IFRAME or pasting PHP code into their pages, this will do the job just fine.

If you’re good at supplying tips, finding resources, or locating fresh information, after viewing some news feeds for yourself, you might find that you’re ready to take the next step and publish one. If you’re already a publisher, utilizing some of these free tools may help you build a better feed.

Either way, good luck!

Does Becoming a Published Author Enhance a Busines

Does Becoming a Published Author Enhance a Business?

by: Vishal P. Rao

There is a boom occurring lately, especially in the online world. More and more business people are authoring their own print book and ebooks. These materials can run the gamut from information books to personal life stories, as well as coaching materials, and life skills training manuals.

With so many doing this, it would seem apparent that this is a great way to escalate a business to the next level. After all, if a person can set themselves up as an expert by publishing materials on certain subjects, others will obviously buy more, and revenue will skyrocket, right? This is not necessarily so.

While it is an advantage in some instances, it can be a disadvantage in other instances. There are parameters that need to be followed for successful publication, and there are certain requirements that must be met for successful publication.

The advantages of authoring and publishing are as follows:

An individual can set themselves up as an expert in a specific field of interest, thus enhancing sales and trust with clients and customers. If a publication is effective enough, and the marketing done well enough, massive exposure will occur, and an individual can fast become a กsemicelebrityก in their chosen field.

A print book or ebook can drive intense amounts of traffic to a Web site, if a URL is included in the publication. Publications are a wellknown Search Engine traffic tool.

The revenue from a successful publication can itself be lucrative.

Backend sales can be made effortlessly, by including กmentionก of other products/services within the published materials.

Public relations are increased, with some authors and publishers enjoying extensive notoriety. When this occurs, oftentimes individuals will buy กanyก and กallก subsequent follow up products that are produced by the author and publisher.

Lucrative joint ventures can be established with solid publications. Many large sized print publishers and online publishers will give massive exposure to authors that produce a wellwritten, wide selling publication.

The disadvantages, however, do exist, and these are as follows:

Producing a quality publication is time consuming, at best. Materials need to be researched, written, and reedited many, many times before the publication can be released.

Producing a quality publication can be costly as well. Although the field of self publishing has increased exponentially (the amount of software and services available now for self publishers is astounding), there are significant costs related to the authoring and publishing of materials, i.e., publication software and services, marketing costs, research costs, editorial and layout costs, etc.

If the publication is not well written and researched, and doesn’t effectively reach itกs target market, the author and publisher may very well create กnegative publicityก which will hurt the business, not enhance it.

กNegative fansก may appear. These are individuals that seem to magically appear who disagree wholeheartedly with the published materials, and may very well create havoc for the author and publisher. Jealousy is many times a motive here, but motives are varied. This is an occupational hazard for all authors and publishers.

Legalities must be followed to the letter. All copyright laws, distribution laws, and all other laws pertaining to authoring and publishing must be followed explicitly. Many กnoviceก authors and publishers are unaware of these, and find themselves in a กlegal messก. A consultation with a lawyer versed in copyright is usually in order prior to authoring and publishing.

Plagiarism is rife in the world of writing, authoring, and publishing. Especially if a work is good, there will probably be recurring instances of this. Methods to defeat this behavior, such as online security measures and offline follow up, leads to an increase in overall costs.

Overall, any work must be extremely well written and professional to succeed. Many times, beginning authors and publishers, who have never written a word prior to this in trying to contain costs, will attempt to churn out the work themselves, leading to a disorganized, somewhat กunreadableก work. It is always prudent, if a person is not a writer themselves, to hire a ghostwriter that is proven, to effectively write the กbest materialsก possible. A publication that is disorganized and ineffective, will not กsellก in the end, and only cost the author and publisher more money overall as charge backs and returns will occur frequently, and the materials will need to be redone eventually.

Also, there seems to be a wave of new books appearing each month, that are written by those that know กlittle to nothingก of the materials they propose to be experts on. This is the largest mistake possible in the world of authoring and publishing. No one can be an กexpertก on something that they know กnothingก about. Readers are quick to กcatch onก when an author or publisher knows nothing about the subject matter. If in doubt, forego authoring and publishing until you have become an กexpertก rather than write about a subject that you know nothing about, or pick a subject in which you do have a good grasp of the materials.

Be truthful, be honest, be adept, and be determined, and if you do choose to author and publish, you will indeed see success and a great business benefit! To be less than truthful, honest, adept and determined, and authoring and publishing will soon become a nightmare!

Simple Media Kits with the Help of Publisher

Simple Media Kits with the Help of Publisher

by: Grannyกs Mettle

For a marketing campaign to work, you have to provide the media with a kit. Announcing news and information about your business can be attractive when combined with a useful and packed media kit.

A media kit is a collection of significant materials that gives the media information on who you are, what you do, and best of all, why they should care. It can be as fancy as you want it to be, just make sure that it is consistently clean, attractive and relevant. Proofread and edit thoroughly any copy that you include in the media kit. This can and will be used for future reference, so make sure that the information is reliable and correct.

For easy and quick creation of a simple yet professional media kit, Microsoft Publisher can help you a lot to come up with the items needed such as a cover letter; a brochure; a press release; business cards; your company mission and history, and even profile; and biographies and credentials of key personnel.

Use the same Master Design Set in Publisher (e.g. the Studio Design) for consistency in your materials. Create your company letterhead, business cards, brochures, and labels using the featured tool in Publisher. Customize and tailor your materials according to your specifications. If you can, address your cover letter to a specific contact person, and not just Dear Sir/Madam. The Publisher has a Mail Merge feature, which you can use to address your letter to different names even with the same content in the body of the letter. The Mail and Catalog Merge Wizard will guide you through the process.

Put them all together in high quality presentation folders and you’re all set. You can choose from a variety of folders available in the market they come in a variety of colors, some even have embossing, die cuts, extra folds, or pockets. Finally, put your media kits in mailing envelopes and you’re ready to send them out.

How to Fight Back BEFORE You’re Falsely Accused of

How to Fight Back BEFORE You’re Falsely Accused of Spam

by: Malacka Persa

A friend of mine received a chilling email message from his ISP the other day. Someone had reported him as sending SPAM and the ISP warned that an additional SPAM complaint would result in losing his hosting service period. No ifs, ands or buts!

The ISP just took the word of the person filing the complaint as gospel, even though my friend had the email subscription notification where this person, or someone posing as them, had subscribed.

My friend sent me a copy of the subscription notification. And sure enough, there it was as plain as day… it contained the date, time and the subscription IP address of the person making the Spam allegation. Unfortunately, all this evidence fell on deaf ISP ears.

This little incident firms my conviction that a federal CAN SPAM law might not be a bad idea after all. Without it, persons alleging Spam, like the one above, may be able to sue under State law. And thatกs where the nightmare begins…

Oh sure, the person will most likely end up losing the case but hereกs the typical situation. The กinjured partyก files a lawsuit and the ISP immediately shuts off service to the publisher. And guess what, the publisher is immediately out of business even though she/he is sitting there with evidence that the allegation is totally groundless. Talk about scary! And if you think this scenario can’t happen to you think again.

The erroneous reporting of Spam has become widespread and has gotten even easier. Don’t like a company or their products? Just accuse them of spam. Do it a couple of times in one week and, guess what, they’re off line period.

AOL and Yahoo owners can simply click a button and report anything they feel like as Spam with no consequence whatsoever if the allegation is totally baseless. The ‘this is Spam buttonก has replaced the delete key as ‘theก answer for some folks. And Iกll bet youกd have a hard time tracking down whomever made the initial AOL or Yahoo Spam complaint as well.

Time to Get Tough

There are several proactive steps you can take to protect yourself against baseless Spam allegations. Admittedly, there is nothing you can do to stop someone bound and determined to damage your reputation and business if they have a mind to do so. You can, however, certainly minimize the risk of this happening to you. But you do have to be proactive.

I recommend that you add a legal notice to your subscription Thank You page and also to every ezine newsletter issue that you send out. Something along the lines of the following…

‘the subscriber agrees, by accepting this email newsletter subscription, to indemnify the publisher against false accusations of spam to include, but not limited to, payment of all damages, loss of web hosting fees and services, all damages for loss of business and goodwill, and any and all fees or fines that may be imposed against the publisher by any federal, state, local authority or civilian business entity as a result of the false spam accusation.ก

Add the paragraph above, or something similar, just above your ezine unsubscribe link.

The reason I think this is a powerful solution is because it establishes a contract between the publisher and the subscriber. And contract law is pretty much the same in all jurisdictions when it comes to breach of contract.

Please note that what I have provided you is for guidance and informational purposes only and should not be construed as practicing law. Do check with your local attorney to make sure that this statement will suffice in your jurisdiction. But I think you get the idea.

Is this concept new? Hardly, jl Scott of the iCOP organization thought of this over two years ago. Will it scare some of your subscribers off? You bet it will. But guess what…

The people it scares off are exactly the people you DON’t want on your list anyway. They most likely have the itchy moronic fingers or the กIกve had a bad day letกs accuse someone of Spam and get them shut downก folks that you don’t want to have anything do to with anyway.

Listen, perhaps itกs just me, but I wouldn’t be fazed in the least if I saw such a caveat on an ezine I really wanted to sign up for. Would you? I only want people on my list who are responsible and willing to accept the consequences of their actions. People who, if they mistakenly accuse me of Spam and got my business erroneously shut down, would face up to their responsibility and pay for the damage they caused. I don’t want a Spam Nazi on my list who is too lazy to hit the delete key. No thanks!

Rough? Yes, but thatกs the reality of doing business on the Internet today.

For those who still don’t know, Microsoft Publisher helps computer users to easily create, customize and publish materials such as flyers, brochures, catalogs, newsletters and websites. It provides tools to create professional and compelling marketing materials that will help you take your business further. With professional page layout and text tools, you can build a strong visual identity for your product or company.

As a part of this article, I’ll be tackling few simple tips that you have to know once you’re new to this software program. These tips include creating a publication using a wizard and using the quick publication wizard with a blank publication. Don’t worry, learning Microsoft Publisher is easy. You just need to be patient and dedicated if you really want to apply what you know about it. Hope you enjoy doing these tips on your own, too.

In creating a publication using a wizard, go to the File menu and click New. Then, click the Publications by Wizard tab. In the Wizards pane, click the type of publication you want. In the right pane, click the design you want. Next, click Start Wizard. To make changes to the publicationกs color scheme, layout or personal information now, click Next and step through the wizardกs questions to make the desired changes. When you finish making changes, click Finish. In your publication, replace the placeholder text and pictures with your own or with other objects. On the File menu, click Save. In the Save In box, select the folder where you want to save the new publication. In the File name box, type a name for your publication. Finally, click Save.

In using the Quick Publication Wizard with a blank publication, click New on the File menu. In the Catalog, click Blank Publications. Click the publication type you want and then click Create. In the Quick Publication Wizard pane, click the option you want. In the bottom pane, follow the instructions provided. Repeat the fourth and fifth steps for each option. On the File menu, click Save. In the Save In box, select the folder where you want to save the new publication. In the File name box, type a name for your publication. Lastly, click Save.

Well, I must say that I am not a born writer. I didn’t acquire this gift hereditarily either. However, I’m an adventure book lover and used to read everything that I come across in the Internet that sounds interesting. I think, I only developed it through constant practice and exposure to numerous writing stuff. I was chosen to compete in press conferences that showcased my needsowelldeveloped writing skills. I became part of our school publication staff. I started as a news writer and photojournalist of the school paper. Soon, I was appointed editorinchief. It was during this time when I realized that I needed to be more efficient in writing because duty called for it. I should say that this event in my life opened me wholly to the wonderful world of writing.

With all these, I can’t say that I have mastered writing because of these writing experiences. I believe that this craft is also a continuous learning process. I’ve been working hard to become more efficient and competent in writing, most especially now that I’m working as an article/content writer for this company. I’m doing articles for printing companies, medical sites, legal sites, and many more.

Best Selling Book Secrets

Best Selling Book Secrets

by: Matt Bacak

You finally did it. You got that book written and published. But if you want to make sure your new baby is launched happily into the world, your work has just begun. Now, itกs your job to get it in the hands of the people you wrote it for! If you have a publisher to help, thatกs great, but if you want to be the author of a best seller, here are a few tips.

Befriend Booksellers

If you have a publisher, communicate with the sales reps about what you plan to do to promote the book. Where will you be signing books? Will the college bookstore of your alma mater stock them? When will you offer your next workshop?

Whether you have a publisher or selfpublish, it is important to make contact with booksellers for yourself. First of all, sales reps can’t be expected to keep up with your every appearance. Second, booksellers love authors especially authors that help them sell books! Wherever you travel, give the booksellers there a weekกs notice and offer to sign any of your books they have on hand. Theyกll make sure to have some, and theyกll get to know you. When customers ask for new book ideas, your name will be at the top of the list.

Another way to help bookstores is to let them know when you are making a media appearance in the area. If you appear on a local interview show, make calls to all the bookstores in the area to alert them. You can hire someone to make these calls, or have your friends help you. There are few things more frustrating than to miss sales because the books aren’t on the shelf. Booksellers will appreciate the heads up, and youกll make the most of your media appearance.

Blogs and Boards

In addition to your own web page, where your book should figure prominently, take advantage of blogs and message boards on your topic. If youกve written a book about homeschooling, recommend it on every homeschool message board your search engine turns up. If youกve got an email list of people whoกve attended your workshops, send out an announcement with a short preview of the book. Offer a free newsletter that gives them a chance to buy the book every month or every week.

Prepare for Interviews

Itกs amazing that a person can spend two years of his life writing a book, and have no idea what to say when someone says, ขWhatกs it about?ข Yet that can happen to anyone in the excitement of an interview. When preparing for radio or television interviews, have in mind three powerful points you want to make about your book. Use every opportunity throughout the interview to reiterate those points.

Pay Attention to Sales

You don’t have to wait for your royalties checks to see your sales figures. At about eight weeks after your book is released, ask your editor. Follow up every six weeks or so. You can also call the major book distributors, such as Ingram, and connect with someone who will look up order figures for you. They can give you this information by area, so that you can see how well your publicity ideas are working.

If you apply these methods as patiently as you wrote your masterpiece, youกll find that you eventually have a best selling book to your credit!

eBooks: With Courage And Patience, We Are Getting

eBooks: With Courage And Patience, We Are Getting There

by: L. Scott Redford

Just how do we make the กeก in ebooks stand for กeasierก? Well, how about this? Letกs scrap the existing digital rights management. Instead everybody in charge of administering DRM would be retrained overnight as digital priests. They would certify ‘trustworthinessก to those seeking to download ebooks.

Before downloads, customers would be visited by digital priests of their respective religious persuasions. With great pomp and circumstance, they would กpledgeก not to forward their books to everybody in the world without compensating the authors and publishers. Break the pledge, and youกd find yourself in purgatory, handcopying old encyclopedias.

Or maybe a totalitarian law would work instead. Firstoffenders guilty of unlawful content reproduction would have to wear a scratchy wool eye patch for one year. For a second crime, the patch would be now a mask. We could set up tollfree hotlines and reward people for spying on their neighbors.

The Real Point

See my real point here? No easy way exists to loosen the DRM gripthis complicated issue can’t be addressed with good oldfashioned guilt and fear. But ebook standards for DRM and formats would help. I am counting on the laws of capitalism, which always prevail. A demand will eventually be met with supply, and Iกm hoping that the right set of standard will break from the pack and simplify the digital content landscape. That will be a blessed day. Microsoft, Adobe and Palm and the others now have their own special technology fee tacked on to the price of ebooks. And that complicates merchandising. We ebook merchants would rather not have multiple cost structures for the same ebook.

Nor do we like consumers to be limited to books published in their chosen format or suffer multiple technologies just to enjoy a story. Nothing is more frustrating than having three different libraries on your handheld and forgetting where your recent fiction resides. I don’t just hear customers complaintsI myself own a handheld.

Villains not

Whoกs to blame? Iกm thinking nobody. Many authors and publishers break out in a cold sweat at just the mention of the word กNapsterก and can you blame them? Their livelihood is at stake. They should, however, strive to better satisfy consumers desire for more content in digital form.

If a publisher has faith in their work, itกs now accepted that expanding to ebook will deliver extra profit and drive hardback sales. Not all understand this. I still hear some authors express misguided fear that ebooks will cannibalize their hardback sales. Publishing is not a zerosum game, howeverand that actually can be good. Ebooks add incremental value to the equation. Granted, companies tasked with encrypting content for them are an easy target, for they create the hoops through which we must jump. But the DRM heavyweights like Microsoft, Adobe and eReader are simply business people satisfying a need with existing technology.

No glass chin

Let there be no mistake, the future is bright for ebookssales are on a steady rise. The industry took a couple of jabs during the Internet correction, but youกll find no glass chin here. More students are beginning to see ebooks as an alternative for those pricey hardback textbooks. The computer savvy are learning the ease in pasting code directly from their favorite Java ebook manual, and thereกs even speculation that men are reading more romance as they no longer fear being seen with a floral book cover. Moreover, the Tablet PC is maturing, and the publishers are slowly but surely putting even more content in digital form. It takes courage, but we’re getting there. Though it is a word often used in excuses, กpatienceก is needed by digital downloaders, me included.
