Secrets to Business Success on the Internet

Secrets to Business Success on the Internet

by: Marianne Puechl

Secret Number One: The Key Is A Niche Market

Identifying a viable niche is an important asset as you’re creating a new Internet business. The target should be a certain facet of the population that has very specific needs you are able to satisfy. Discover the habits and characteristics of those who will become your regular customers.

Here are some of the questions you should ask about various consumers.

Does this target market include consumers who use the Internet frequently?

Are these potential customers people who have disposable income?

Which communities have more interest in the convenience and time saving qualities of online shopping?

Are there businesses that could use your help to find diverse or rare services and products quickly and easily?

Are there potential customers who prefer the privacy of purchasing products or services online?

Is there a need in the target market for cost cutting or pricecomparison shopping of particular products or services?

Once you have discovered the answers applicable to your business you can narrow your marketing strategy. Spend time and energy on those you know have potential purchasing power. Also, a marketing portfolio should be diversified and flexible as your business changes over time.

Secret Number Two: Believe In The Importance Of The Web

These days a strong web presence can make all the difference to an entrepreneur. Your can now entertain the possibility of being nationwide or even worldwide. The scope is no longer limited to the physicality of your own neighborhood. Further, it provides your company with a virtual business card that is viewed at a client’s leisure and is a complement to a physical location that may appeal to a different clientele.

An Internet presence is a mighty tool for the small business. To build a web site or a storefront is incredibly costeffective. Also, as a growing number of web design firms and private contractors appear the rates and prices become increasingly affordable. Opportunities to learn how to create a simple web site on your own are also available. Inexpensive templates and programs can be purchased online and only basic computer knowledge is needed to utilize them.

Secret Number Three: Use Every Internet Marketing Tool Available

Unique, lowcost business marketing opportunities are accessible on the web. Bulletin boards, web rings, ezines and other resources post information and articles/press releases on companies. This is often free of charge! Grass roots methods, such as spreading the word about your business through referrals and from one person to another, also move quickly through the Internet. Use this technology to your advantage!

There are endless ways to add links to your website on other sites. This expands your web presence vastly and can also be free of charge. Check out networks online. Business organizations of all kinds affiliate with one another over the Internet. Taking part in an association made up of various providers helps bring in traffic and benefits everyone.

Secret Number Four: Do Not Forget The Importance Of Customer Service

People enjoy great customer service, yet itกs easy when owning an online business to lose sight of providing any customer service at all. The lack of facetoface contact can leave a company seeming impersonal and uncaring. Quality care of the people you work with is key to bringing in repeat business. See your business from the clients’ point of view and expand in the direction that best serves their needs.

On the Internet communication is a valuable commodity. Encouraging clients to ask questions, make complaints or suggestions, and to correspond by phone or email to discuss problems is imperative. Also responding to these inquiries in a timely and professional manner will solidify your presence as a company worth patronizing!

Remember, create a business or build on a business venture with a vision of success in mind. Your vision is an investment! Be adaptable, openminded, and diversify your efforts. This will lead to successful growth and longterm security. Take time to explore tools and do whatever detective work is necessary; make it a habit that continues over the years. Give yourself all of the advantages possible and you will reach your highest goals.

The Secret To Success Is In The **DOING**

The Secret To Success Is In The **DOING**

by: Paul Verigin

One of the unique features about doing business on the net is that you are exposed to unimaginable volumes of information. It can boggle your mind. You can read until you go cross eyed and your head starts to spin. You read because you believe that reading contributes to the acquisition of knowledge. Knowledge is supposed to be the all important ingredient to every form of success.
This afternoon I read an article that stated "knowledge is power".
Broad knowledge is a valuable asset but possessing it by itself will do little towards the creation of any specific achievement. Accumulated knowledge does not automatically assure you of success nor does it assure you of experiencing any form of power.
You may have learned how to perform a specific task. You may even confidently admit that you really know the subject, but until you attach action to this knowledge, this knowledge will lie dormant.
Action is what proves how well you really know the subject. Regardless how much knowledge you possessed before you start a project, you will probably discover that additional knowledge may be required to really make your project shine. Knowledge tends to multiply once you take the first steps towards converting information to action.
Action unleashes the power present in the knowledge. Your success depends solely on your ability to bring life to your knowledge. Knowledge plus action equals results, equals power. Success is only achieved if you possess the intestinal fortitude to stick it out long enough to see the true signs of success begin to emerge from the marriage of your knowledge and action.
The secret to success is in the **DOING**!
You have an idea! You can think about a specific project, gather all required information and create a sure fire, workable plan. You can commit to all kinds of fancy goals and then decision time. Do you go ahead and jump in with both feet or do you bail out because it looks too hard and risky.
This is where the greatest challenges emerge. Many Internet marketers expect results even before they start doing anything. Many marketers even take the first step but if they do not experience phenomenal success immediately they quit and wonder why this program didn’t work. Did they work the program?
The secret to success is in the **DOING AND DOING**.
For HOW LONG?
For as LONG AS IT TAKES!
What do you HAVE TO DO?
You have to do WHATEVER IT TAKES!
You yourself are the sole judge about how much time and effort is required and how much time and effort you are prepared to exert to ensure that your project flourishes.
You may follow the plan of others. Be aware, just because someone else had success or lack of desired success with a specific plan, it does not guarantee your outcome will be the same. You are a unique individual. Your talents, your habits, your character, your energy all play a contributing part in your story. Only you can ultimately write your own story and create your own outcome. Whatever the outcome is, it is an experience that was worth having. You either learned HOW TO DO something or HOW NOT TO DO something.
This does not mean that the assistance you receive from others is of little value. On the contrary, the length of your learning curve can often be influenced by the support and the knowledge obtained from others. However, the final buck still stops with you. It is your decisions that determine your involvement, your learning curve and ultimately your success. Even if you follow someone elseกs plan, the buck stops here!
All this sounds so simple and inconsequential and yet this simple lesson is the single reason the SINGLE SOLITARY REASON why so few people really succeed to achieve their dreams.
Most people are กUNWILLING TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES, FOR HOWEVER LONG IT TAKESก to realize their dreams!
Few people fail, many people quit, most people don’t even try!
The secret to success is in the DOING! JUST DO IT!!

The กNot So Secretก Secrets of Success

The กNot So Secretก Secrets of Success

by: Terri Seymour

Have you ever heard of the กsecrets of successก? Many times people are trying to sell you these กsecretsก for a very high price! Well, in my five years of Internet marketing experience, I haven’t learned any กsecretsก.

These socalled กsecretsก are mostly common sense and hard work. We all know these กsecretsก. We just have to apply them and use them consistently.

กSecretก #1 People

Dealing with people can be hard, but we all know we must be courteous and professional. You need to accept the fact that you cannot please everybody. When you come across one of these people you cannot please no matter what you do, just deal with them firmly, but courteously and professionally. Not a กsecretก!

MOE Motto Treat people as you would like to be treated!

กSecretก #2 Passion

We all know that we need to like we do in order to be really successful at it. If you are interested in pets do not start a business dealing with cars! 😉 Building an online business will take a lot of passion to get through the frustration, obstacles, and other difficulties. There will be many times when we will need our passion to get us through! Not a กsecretก!

กSecretก #3 Customer Service

Another กsecretก is to treat the customer with respect and courtesy. It will not be easy to deal with difficult customers this way, but it can be done. I have worn down some of the nastiest customers by a continuing campaign of courtesy, politeness and professionalism!

Each time I dealt with this one lady, she was less and less rude and upset and more relaxed and easy to deal with. Eventually, she was thanking me and praising me for being so helpful and nice. Don’t be condescending and don’t let yourself get upset. Remain calm, yet be firm and respectful. Not a กsecretก!

กSecret #4 Promotion

To build a business, people must know that you and your business exist. Advertising, promotion and networking are how this is done. Set up a promotion schedule and stick with it. Be consistent. This may get tedious at times, but it must be done!

Write and submit articles, publish an ezine, get listed all over the web, do link exchanges, swap ezine ads, compile a fr~e ebook for viral marketing, subscribe to announcement lists, visit message boards, get involved in discussion groups……..there are hundreds of ways of promoting yourself and your online business! Not a กsecretก!

กSecretก #5 Hard Work

Despite what many people have said, it is not easy to กget rich overnightก and กmaking thousands a week, while doing nothingก just doesn’t happen. To be successful you will need to work and work hard. This is where passion for your work comes in! Not a กsecretก!

กSecretก #6 Commitment

Expanding on the hard work กsecretก, you will need to make a commitment to success. You must be willing to make sacrifices and work long hours. This will not happen overnight….it could take years. Are you prepared for years of frustration, hard work, ups and downs, dealing with people (good and bad), rejections, and everything else that comes along with building a business? Not a กsecretก!

กSecretก #7 Pride

Take pride in your work. Your work and your business will be a reflection of you. Build your reputation for a solid foundation of success. Be true to yourself and your business. Not a กsecretก!

กSecretก #8 Goals

Be aware of what you want and how you want to get it. Do not go blindly into business without some planning of your goals and accomplishments. Use short term smaller goals to eventually reach your long term ultimate goal of success. Not a กsecretก!

So we know in order to start and build a business, we must plan our goals, be prepared for the work and commitment of building that business, and that we must build a reputation of trust and professionalism.

I know we all knew that. It just helps to be reminded once in awhile! 😉

Website Promotion Secret: How To Explode Your Webs

Website Promotion Secret: How To Explode Your Website Sales

by: Ikey Benney, CEO

The secrets on how to send a floodgate of traffics to your website and explode your sales.

Why do hundreds of millions of people from all over the world have websites today which are not making any money for them?

They have tried many different types of website marketing, internet promotions such as search engine optimization and promotion, banner ads, ffa ads, email marketing, link exchanges, ezine ads but failed.

The one problem that all website owners or marketers and businesses have in common is the difficulty in locating the people who are interested in buying their products, programs and services.

Many people who claim to be internet marketing gurus have succeeded in luring people to their seminars where they charge them $1000 or $2000 or even $5000 to disclose their secrets of internet marketing.

But after attending the seminars and trying to implement the so called secrets of success in website marketing, these people have learned a bitter lesson that those so called secrets of website marketing don’t work.

The truth is that there are jealously guarded secrets to succeed in promoting your website so as to explode your sales and get rich.

But I am not going to charge you $1000 or $2000 or $5000 to disclose this secret.

If you’ve been doing different types of website marketing but not generating traffics or sales, there may be a number of reasons why.

First is that you’ve been probably marketing to the wrong customers.

You need to learn how to find targeted customers who really need to buy what you’re selling.

When you market to the right customers who really need your products or services and who are MOTIVATED, you’ll succeed in a big easy way.

The problem today is that most of the people who may need what you’re selling may be difficult to reach through email marketing or on the internet.

Most of the people who really need what you’re selling don’t hang around on the internet.

They may have filters on their email addresses so your email marketing may not reach them.

They probably have very good paying jobs, where they spend 4060 hrs weekly.

When they come back from work, they are too tired to get on the internet to look for whatever they need, so they may not be able to find your website.

But if they are motivated and do get on the internet to search for whatever they need, using a search engine like Google or yahoo or msn, they may get millions of websites in the search result.

If they can’t find you listed among the top ten or twenty websites, they may never know your website exists.

If there are 1 million other people trying to sell the same product or service like you, it means that your chance of being listed among the top ten websites is 10 out of a million.

You’ll be competing with 999,990 other websites to be listed in the top 10.

And even if you succeed in reaching the top ten ranking, you may not remain there too long because there are large companies out there who spend thousands of dollars monthly to be sure to remain listed among the top ten positions.

For the above reasons, 99% of the websites out there can’t make money by depending on search engine marketing or email marketing alone.

Your website may be among the hundreds of millions in cyberspace not making any money for these reasons.

Therefore you may have to do offline marketing in order to reach targeted people who really need what you’re selling.

This depends on what type of products, goods or services you’re marketing.

You must know the difference between marketing and selling.

http://www.maychic.com/vj

Selling is when you try to promote whatever you’re selling to everybody, including those who need it and those who don’t.

This is what 99% of businesses try to do and why only 1% succeeds.

Marketing is when you research your product or service in order to know who needs them, where to find them and how to reach them.

Therefore to succeed in your website marketing, you must learn the secrets on how to locate a good mailing list for your product or service.

You must learn the secret on how to use a broker to locate a responsive list of buyers for your product.

You must learn the secret on how to test the mailing list.

You must learn the secret on how to make these prospects open your mails to read about what you’re selling.

You must learn the secret of making more money from your customers list by marketing backend products to them.

You must learn the secret of database marketing which enables you to leverage your customers’ list.

Are you not yet tired of having websites that are not making any money or tired of making nickels and dimes?

Are you not yet tired of all the lousy website marketing secrets from the so called internet gurus (that don’t work)?

Do you have a website?

Do you sell any product, program or service?

Would you like to know the exact ขsecretsข on how to find hundreds of thousands and even millions of buyers for your products and services?

Would you like to get your paws on the exact ขsecretข on how to market any product to hundreds of thousands and even millions of people who really need them?

If you answer yes, I suggest you begin today to target your customers, and stop selling but instead begin marketing.

Internet Marketing: 10 Ingenious Secret Strategies

Internet Marketing: 10 Ingenious Secret Strategies To Explode Your Sales.

by: Ikey Benney, CEO

Internet marketing on the internet is getting harder and harder daily.

It is becoming like a rocket science.

You make so much efforts only to generate little or no sales.

Well, my friend, allow me to reveal to you a few ingenious strategies that have helped me pump my sales:

1. Think of ways to get your site or business on the the news. You could sponsor a fundraiser, break a world record, hold a major event, etc.

2. Hold a contest on your web site. Give other web sites the option of offering it to their visitors. Thisกll multiply your advertising all over the internet.

3. Tell your potential customers that your ordering system is highly secure. Also, reassure them that you take every effort to protect them.

4. Carry business cards with you wherever you go. Have your web address printed on them. You can hand them out to anyone you meet.

5. Contact national radio stations to ask them if they are looking for guest speakers. Tell them your area of expertise; maybe theyกll book you for a show.

6. Join clubs related to your area of business. You could trade leads with other businesses. Learn new ways to run your business and sell your products.

7. Think of a domain name for your web site thatกs easy to remember. If you can’t find a good one left, use your actual birth name.

8. Position your web site at the top of payperclick search engines. You will only pay your set amount for each clickthrough you get to your web site.

9. Allow your visitors or customers to increase your traffic or sales. Ask them how you can improve your business, web site or product.

10. Teamup with other ezines that have the same target audience. Combine subscriber bases and then publish one ezine together to increase subscribers.

May these internet marketing secrets help you to make a lot of money.

Warmly,

The 2 BestKept Secrets Of The Internet

The 2 BestKept Secrets Of The Internet

by: Mike Cheney

Itกs a difficult creating a website that brings you business. Itกs fulltime job where things seem easy at first but as soon as you start to explore the possibilities and appreciate the complexity of the task at hand it can soon start taking up ever increasing amounts of your time. There is a plethora of people out there offering you conflicting advice and itกs often difficult to know what to focus on.

This article cuts through all that and reveals to you the two most important things you need to know about creating a website that brings more profit to your business..

Secret Number 1 Information

Yes thatกs all it is information. Just think about this for a minute what is the sole reason anyone surfing any website anywhere across the world is looking for? Every single one of them is looking for just one thing information. The information might take the form of text, an image, a sound file or whatever but at the end of the day it is information. This is the first biggest and bestkept secret of success on the internet and now you know it!

What do you mean กSo what?ก. The sole purpose of your website is to provide its visitors with information think about this the next time some combattrousered graphic designer tells you a big Flash graphic would be a good thing to have instead of a homepage.. People are looking for information don’t put anything in the way of them getting this. Make sure the information you have on your site is easy to find, worthwhile reading and ideally easy for your visitors to disseminate onto their friends and colleagues.

Information is also essential if you are going to gain any influence with the search engines. They might only be computer programs but those search engine critters can be quite clever at discerning a website that contains nothing of any use and one that has useful information relevant to its target audience. Lots and lots of high quality relevant content on your website will do more for your websiteกs overall success than a fancy graphic or rotating picture of your head on the homepage.

Secret Number 2 Interaction

Goto your website. Just look at it. Go through a few pages. Imagine that you had hit กPrintก on each of those pages. Would the experience of reading the pages in hardcopy be exactly the same as reading them on the screen? If it would you don’t own a website you own an expensive brochure. Interaction is why the internet was born it is the one attribute and opportunity that sets the medium apart from print and anything else. Your website needs to be littered with things that enable interaction between you and your visitors. Feedback forms, downloads, bookmarking tools, contact options, newsletters etc.

Information and interaction together these are the only things that matter when it comes to the internet. Now go back, look at your site and appraise it honestly in terms of how well it addresses each of the two facets. Is it full of interactive features that enable people to get closer to your business and control their browsing experience? Does it provide lots of valuable information that is easy to find? Armed with these two secrets you can start to truly harness the real power of the internet. Good luck!

The Search Engine Secret That Is No Secret At All

The Search Engine Secret That Is No Secret At All

by: Herb Leibacher and Monica Leibacher

Itกs common knowledge we all know that it is important to rank well in search engines. Doing so can bring qualified, interested visitors to the web site you create. And, those visitors come to you believing that you know what you are talking about, since you showed up in the search engine results.

All the time, people ask กHow do I get my site to show up first when I type กwhateverก into the search engines?ก.

Hereกs the secret:

Create a great web site with useful information, and have more relevant links pointing back to your web site than your competitors.

Surprised?

You shouldn’t be. The secret is not really a secret at all.

We all want short cuts and quick fixes. It would be nice if you could believe the ads, submit to 18 bazillion search engines for free, and get to the top of the search engines. But, alas, it doesn’t work that way.

It takes hard work and long term commitment.

So, what can you do today?

1. Write a new, fresh article on the topic of your web site.

You don’t have to be Stephen King to create an article for the web. Anyone can do it. Just sit down and think about what you know that other people might like to hear. Not an advertisement for yourself, but real useful informaiton others can use. Then, write it out just like you are talking to someone. Go back and edit, proof read, and edit again. Then, post your new article on your web site.

2. Share your article with others to get links back to your site.

People all over the internet want useful information to post on their web sites. You can give it to them, and in return ask for a link back to your site. Check out these sites, where you can submit your article for free, and other people can pick it up, post it on their site, and link back to you:

www.ArticleCity.com

www.GoArticles.com

www.EzineArticles.com

Repeat steps 1 and 2 above, and you will build content and links. And that will help your search engine rankings. And thatกs no secret.

The Secret of Making Money on the Web

The Secret of Making Money on the Web

by: Tony Murtagh

So, you really want to know the secret formula of how to make some money out of a home business on the Web?

Well, that formula is J.F.D.I.

J ust

F laming

D o

I t

Simple!

No, I am not being flippant that really is the secret formula to success! please read on for the full explanation.

How long have you been surfing around looking for the "right" opportunity? How many people do you know who have said "One day, I will be a millionaire when I am lucky enough to find the right deal"?

The main difference between those who DO, and those who just think about it, is just that they DO, the rest of the population merely thinks about doing!

The well known American author, Sinclair Lewis was touring the Universities and Colleges in the Mid West, lecturing on the Art of Creative Writing. At the start of his lecture, he would say to the packed lecture theatre, "How many of you would like to be great writers?"

Invariably all the eager students would raise their hands, and Lewis would retort, "Well why are you not at home writing?"

The point he was making was that in order to write a great novel, one had to possess the self discipline to actually sit down and write! Without that, it did not matter how many lectures they attended or books on How to Write a Novel they read, the main thing was to begin writing.

Exactly the same is true of running a profitable business on the Web (or anywhere else). All Lewisกs students needed to write was a pen, paper and an ample supply of ideas and a determination to write. All YOU need is a PC, some ideas and the same determination to succeed. A few dollars/pounds/escudos will help, but the beauty of the Web is that you can start out and, at least in the early days, you need spend next to nothing. Many of the programmes I will introduce you to are totally free and on the others you can usually start off without committing any cash, only signing up when you are confident of the service offered and your ability to promote it.

You can be taught how to set up a successful business, how to make money from someone elseกs idea, how to set it up, how to market it, how to advertise, even how to keep your accounts and keep the tax man happy, but however much you learn, you will never make any money unless you:

Clickbank Security Using PHP

Clickbank Security Using PHP

by: Robert Plank

Hereกs a way to protect the products you sell with Clickbank, using their builtin protection and by implementing a 30day expiration, all without having to worry about managing databases or customer lists.

THE FIRST STEP

First of all, Clickbank protection is decent as it is. If you want to keep your customers from passing the thank you page URL around to friends, there are a couple of things you can do.

Login to your Clickbank account: http://www.clickbank.com/login.html

At the top thereกs a link that says กClick HERE to modify your accountก. Click on the link.

On this page there are two links at the top, but one says กClick HERE to modify your account.ก Click on this one.

You should be at the page that allows you to edit the prices of all your Clickbank products. Scroll down to the bottom where it says:

Secret key (up to 16 letters & digits)

You should see a text box here. If itกs empty, choose a secret key, type it in and remember it. It can be anything you want, but it should be different than your Clickbank password.

กCOOKIE CUTTERก TOOLS

If youกve looked around the Clickbank site youกd know that Clickbank offers some friendly pieces of code in a few different programming languages like Perl and PHP that can help you protect your downloads. Basically this is what happens:

* Your order link contains whatกs called a กseedก. This is just a word or a piece of text, which can be anything you want.

* Your customer clicks on the order link and pays.

* Clickbank takes that seed, and uses your secret key on it basically mashes the two together and does a bunch of crazy stuff to come up with a garbled piece of junk. But this a garbled piece of junk that can ONLY come from this seed and secret key. You change the value of the seed or secret key even a little and this กhashก changes.

* The seed and the hash are passed back to the thank you page where your Clickbank script sits. (We have the secret key added to your script, and it never changes, so it doesn’t need to be handed to us by Clickbank.) This Clickbank script takes the seed and the secret key and does the same crazy shit Clickbank did to us to compute your own hash.

Clickbank calls this their กcbpopก or Clickbank Proof of Purchase.

The hash was something we figured out on your own and the hash Clickbank are compared. If they match, we’re in business because the customer here really did buy from us.. The customer can’t figure this out on his or her own because they never actually saw the secret key. (And no, you can’t ‘reverseก a hash to figure out the original secret key.)

If you get nothing out of what I just told you, remember this: itกs almost impossible for anyone to figure out the right Proof of Purchase code without that secret key.

USING SOMEONE ELSEกS CODE

This is the PHP function they give us:

function cbValid($seed, $cbpop, $secret_key) {

// A bunch of stuff in here…

}

This function cbValid takes three parameters: $seed, $cbpop, and $secret_key. The script goes through that last step of ours I explained above, does the crazy shit and then compares the result to the one given to us by Clickbank.

Now we need to figure out what to do if your customer really didn’t pay. The easiest thing to do, is just stop the script in its tracks, preventing the page under it from loading.

if (!cbValid($seed, $cbpop, $secret_key)) die();

The exclamation point means กnotก. We’re saying, first try this…

cbValid($seed, $cbpop, $secret_key)

.. pass the seed, proof of purchase, and secret key into your black box. If the function tells us NO, do the rest. In this case, กdieก. Die stops everything immediately, so if you have HTML or PHP code below that line, it won’t be looked at if the Clickbank validation fails.

The กproperก way to grab $seed from the query string is this way:

if (!cbValid($_GET[กseedก], $_GET[กcbpopก], $secret_key)) die();

You could also redirect the user to an error page of yours if you like:

if (!cbValid($_GET[กseedก], $_GET[กcbpopก], $secret_key)) {

header(กLocation:http://www.your.host/error.htmlก);

die();

}

Instead of $seed and $cbpop we use $_GET[กseedก] and $_GET[กcbpopก]. This is because the variables don’t appear magically out of thin air, they really appear in the URL as http://www.your.url/test.php?seed=SOMESEED&cbpop=SOMEPOP. We want these values to be taken out of the URL.

USE MINE

Hereกs a zip file containing your cb.php script: http://www.jumpx.com/tutorials/clickbank/cb.zip

Save it, unzip it, and open cb.php. Near the top should be a line such as:

$secret_key = กYOUR_SECRET_KEYก;

Change YOUR_SECRET_KEY to that secret key you set in the Clickbank control panel.

Now, for usage… your thank you pages will have to end in .php here. Like, thankyou.php (and now it doesn’t matter if they have obvious names or not because theyกll be thoroughly inaccessible to thieves. Remember, you can simply rename your HTML pages so they end in .php and theyกll still work just fine.

Put this line at the top of you thank you page script:

Be sure to upload cb.php to the same folder as your thank you page. Now, when someone goes to the thank you page, the first thing the thank you script will do is run everything in cb.php, and cb.php will take the data Clickbank has passed to see if it matches.

You’re going to have to change your Clickbank order links a little. This is what they should look like now:

http://www.clickbank.net/sell.cgi?link=YOUR_CLICKBANK_ID/YOUR_PRODUCT_ID/YOUR_PRODUCT_NAME&seed=YOUR_SEED

Replace YOUR_CLICKBANK_ID with, of course, your Clickbank ID and YOUR_SEED with the seed you want to use. This can be anything, something simple thatกs short and one word like the product name. But NOT your secret key.

YOUR_PRODUCT_ID is the number Clickbank shows to the left of each thank you page as you add it. When you’re testing, be sure to set the price at $0.00. Once everythingกs in place you can raise the price of the item to $19.95 or $29.95 or whatever itกs priced at.

http://www.clickbankguide.com/merchant.htm#account will explain everything if you’re a Clickbank newbie.

COULDN’t THE DOWNLOAD URL, HASH, AND RECEIPT BE SHARED?

You can’t prevent sharing completely… after all, your customer can always download the file and share the file, not the download URL, to friends. We can do one thing to give these wouldbe freeloaders a bit of a headache, and that is expiration.

Here we can say, 30 days after someone buys your product, the thank you page will be inaccessible to them. If they buy on October 25th, they can bookmark and revisit that thank you page up until November 25th at the exact time they made their purchase. Itกs kind of a nice compromise because it gives honest people enough time to get what they need but at the same time it becomes impractical to share the URL.

In chapter 9 of my book, Simple PHP (http://www.simplephp.com), I explained how time works on computers, they use a big number which is just a count of how many seconds have passed since January 1st, 1970. I also explained that there was a function, called strtotime(), which we could use to determine this กnumberก or timestamp of a certain date. For example, 30 days ago or 1 year ago.

30 days sounds about right. To figure out the Unix timestamp of this moment, minus 30 days is:

strtotime(ก30 daysก)

Now, to store it in a variable called $expire:

$expire = strtotime(ก30 daysก);

But you’re saying, how do I know when these people purchased? I don’t have that kind of information. Aha! But you can. Remember, the seed you put in your order links can be anything you want. So letกs just make it the timestamp of this exact moment.

When the customer revisits the thank you page, they can’t change the seed, because as I mentioned, if you change *either* the seed or the secret key, the resulting hash (proof of purchase) will be different. So you see, they’re stuck with it. But, the current time always changes!

All we have to do, in cb.php, are these two steps:

* Figure out what the timestamp was exactly 30 days ago, and store this value in $expire.

* Compare the seed and $expire. If the the value of the seed is less than that of $expire, it means that the product was purchased more than 30 days ago and the visitor shouldn’t be given access to the page. Die.

Weกve already taken care of step one by saving the timestamp 30 days prior in $expire. Now, we compare the seed (itกs $_GET[กseedก], remember, because we’re grabbing it out of the URL string) and $expire like:

if ($_GET[กseedก] Order Now

Instead of YOUR_SEED we want PHP to call the function mktime(), which gives us the current timestamp, and output it, using echo.

echo mktime();

Now just put around it…

And shove it in there.

ก>Order Now

Now setup a link for $0.00 in your Clickbank control panel and try it. You can be sure it works by changing that ก30 daysก in strtotime to ก5 minutesก. Then try accessing the download page, then wait 5 minutes and try again. Neat, isn’t it?

You say, Iกve done this, but I have more than one product. How do I keep someone from grabbing everything once theyกve grabbed one?

Have your links look like the following: ก>Order Now

This way the seeds will look like กstringbeans445433ก if you’re selling stringbeans. Then again if you’re selling corn on the cob on another sales page, you can change กstringbeansก to กcornonthecobก. Now the seeds for each product will be different.

Those seeds won’t be all numbers, will they? So, in cb.php, do this:

$timestamp = ereg_replace(ก[^09]ก,กก,$_GET[กseedก);

I won’t go into a lot of detail about pattern matching, but the [^09] means กNOT anything from 0 to 9. It basically goes through every letter and number of $_GET[กseedก], and if whatกs there isn’t a 0, 1, 2, etc. itกs replaced with nothing (hence the กก). The final result is saved in a variable called $timestamp.

Since now we’re looking at $timestamp and not $_GET[กseedก], letกs change that ifstatement:

if ($timestamp

When I extracted the timestamp from the seed, I simply removed all characters that were not numbers, leaving just the numbers contained within that string. Now I want to do the opposite. Hereกs an example seed:

test1074482258

I take out all the numbers and am left with ‘testก. Next I figure out which script called cb.php (which is stored in the variable $_SERVER[กSCRIPT_NAMEก]). Then the script takes out everything up to the last slash (/) and everything before the first dot (.). If the script was located at ก/clickbank/test.phpก, all thatกs left is ‘testก.

If you give each thank you page a different name, and make sure all your seeds reflect the correct page, i.e. if your thank you page is called กcarrotsก, the part of that order link containing the seed should appear as:

&seed=carrots

If you don’t care how Clickbankกs protection works, thatกs your derogative. Just get the zip file and follow the instructions Iกve provided in cb.php.

As far as scripts that handle several Clickbank products I can’t recommend any at this time, since Iกve never across any good ones. (But you should check out Harvey Segalกs free site, ClickbankGuide.com, which can answer most of your questions about Clickbank.)

Hereกs that script again in case you missed it: http://www.jumpx.com/tutorials/clickbank/cb.zip

Make sure to read the instructions Iกve supplied in cb.php, get everything setup and on your web server, and youกll be well on your way to having bulletproof protection on your Clickbank products.

The กSecretก Joint Venture Secret

The กSecretก Joint Venture Secret

by: Willie Crawford

You don’t have to be in business online long before you hear or read hundreds of times that joint ventures are the secret to big success. The fact is, that joint venturing with those who are already in contact with your target market is a big shortcut to profitability. However, you have one big problem…

The next time that you’re sitting in traffic at a busy intersection, spot one pedestrian in the crowd. Observe this person for a few seconds. Now, consider that this person is probably totally unaware of you. This person has his own life, his own concerns, his own focus. Thereกs a good chance that youกll never get to know anything about this person or ever even see them again. The odds are that this person is totally unaware of you and never will become aware of you.

Online, you are that pedestrian walking through a busy intersection. Most of the people that are your potential joint venture partners are totally unaware of you and will always be that way. On top of that, making them acutely aware of you can be a monumental task. The reason that this is so, is that many of your potential joint venture partners have literally hundreds of people clamoring for their attention. Their day is like that busy intersection!

Iกm going to let you in on a secret though that most people seem to be unaware of. ‘the secret joint venture secretก as I call it. This secret is so obvious that most people simply ignore it. What is this secret? The secret is that itกs easiest to get the attention of potential joint venture partners in face to face encounters.

Thereกs a reason that top Internet marketers attend large seminars even when they are not speaking. Itกs where they get to sit around and discuss ideas with likeminded individuals. Itกs where they get to look potential partners in the eyes and get all of the details on a potential project.

Many top marketers go to large seminars looking for joint ventures. They go to seminars set up specifically for facilitating joint ventures. They attend events like Michael Penlandกs Internet Marketing and Joint Venture Marketing Super Conference (December 3 5, 2004, in Orlando, Florida). They attend events like Jason Coxกs Joint Venture Seminar (February 18 20, in Las Vegas, Nevada).

Take a second now to check out Michaelกs seminar at: http://www.profitautomation.com/app/adtrack.asp?AdID=107710 Youกll see that itกs the ideal environment to set up joint ventures not only with the speakers, but also with the hundreds of people in the audience. At these events practically every person that you meet will ask your name and what you do. Theyกll also ask if you have a business card.

Asking someone what they do is a natural way to กbreak the ice.ก When you meet a stranger for the first time, itกs a slightly uneasy moment as you size that person up. The polite conversation thatกs expected is also your invitation to quickly pitch your joint venture project sometimes 🙂

Hereกs another secret…

Some of the big name marketers use กgatekeepersก to help control the flow of joint venture offers to them. If they spent all day reading joint venture proposals they would never get anything else done. If they got involved in even 10% of the joint ventures offered to them their efforts would be too scattered and their productivity would be drastically reduced.

One of the gate that you should be aware of is Jason Cox. Take a look at a teleseminar series Jason has put together involving dozens of the worldกs top marketers at: http://www.profitautomation.com/app/adtrack.asp?AdID=107711

What I, and the others marketers have done is use Jason to help control the flow to us. Itกs the only way we can get any work done.

Another gatekeeper is Ken McArthurกs and Sid Haleกs JV Alert at: http://www.profitautomation.com/app/adtrack.asp?AdID=107712

JV Alert is a community of people who are all looking for quality joint ventures. Members get to post their offers to a searchable database where partners can find just the right joint venture.

Members of JV Alert also get to broadcast their JV offers to the membership. The gatekeeping function that Sid Hale provides is that he reviews each JV offer for quality before itกs broadcast to the membership. If the offer is of really poor quality, Sid offers his insights to the novice joint venturer so that he can make the offer more attractive… more likely to be something that the membership would be interested in.

Letกs get back to the live events for a moment though, and look at another reason why they are so powerful. The fact is that friends like doing deals with their friends. Itกs natural to prefer doing business with someone that you actually know and like. At events like Michaelกs Super Conference, you really have a personกs undivided attention while sitting next to them at the dinner table, in the hotel lobby, or around the pool. This is where you really get to explain your ideas indepth, and possibly even get a dozen different กexpertsก point out potential problems that youกve overlooked.

So now you know the secret JV secret. You now actually know several proven ways to get past all the clutter and get your ideas seriously considered by those JV partners that you need. Actually, everyone else reading this article knows the same secret. So itกs not such a secret any more. However, thatกs not something you need to worry about because 95% of those who read this won’t act upon it!
