Can You Write Naturally and Get Good SE Ranking?

Can You Write Naturally and Get Good SE Ranking?

by: Francisco Aloy

The most effective way to write for your website is to keep the subject matter of your web page under tight focus. Notice I didn’t say website; thatกs because the search engines don’t spider websites, they spider web pages.

The search engines will look to see how well the related page title, keywords and body text apply to the subject matter. This means that if you are talking about widgets, your title, keywords and body copy should be tightly focused only on widgets. Stray from your main subject only when secondary ideas have very high relevancy and keep it short, sweet and get right back to your main subject matter.

To begin with, pick out your web page title and then a set of keywords that relate to your subject. After this, start to write the body copy in a style you’re comfortable with and do your first draft.

While working on your first draft, use this guideline:

Use a rough outline to get your point across. Have a start, a middle and an ending. Make your points in the very middle of the body copy, as Iกm doing right here.

Don’t limit yourself to a mechanical formula for creating a keyword density because it will get in the way of your natural style.

Do your best to write in a free flowing manner as if you are talking to a good friend. Stay away from words or expressions that would make anybody reach for the dictionary.

If you can get your style to loosenup, have some fun as you write for readers and visitors. Do your best to have the real you come through in your chosen writing style. This is something that will come on its own the more you do it.

For the second draft, do this:

Go over your writing and eliminate any fluff and revise it to make your meaning come through better. It could be there is an idea that needs expanding or perhaps you need to restructure a paragraph. Maybe there is another word that could provide a better description of an idea or term.

Finally, your third draft should include this:

Look at all the elements of your near finished piece and see how logical and smooth the transition is from opening, middle and closing paragraphs. Do they all seem to fit together well? Are you fully informing your readers on the subject without leaving out crucial information?

If you are satisfied with your results, itกs time to go live! Upload the web page to your server and take a look at it; use this little web based utility Iกve found very helpful, the Submit Express Meta Tags Analyzer: http://www.submitexpress.com/analyzer/

The above utility will give you lots of information about your web page. Once you enter your URL look at the results and compare the relevancy numbers. Use the single keyword and double or triple keyword phrase to adjust your final results. Most of the time, you don’t have to adjust your writing, only your particular choice and order of keywords.

Adjust your keyword choice and do your best to get good to excellent relevancy and keyword fit. Notice that this is the last step in the process since you want to preserve as much of your natural style as you can. If you do your best to stay focused on the subject matter of your web page, you shouldn’t have to do many changes.

3 Website Positioning Tactics Guaranteed to Boost

3 Website Positioning Tactics Guaranteed to Boost Your Traffic

by: Michael Turner

There are many tactics you can use to increase traffic to your website. However, three particularly effective suggestions include search engine optimization, keyword articles, and trading links with other web pages. When you incorporate these three strategies into your overall Web site strategy you will be sure to increase your traffic.

Tip #1 Search Engines and Optimization

You need to be sure your web page is listed with as many search engines as possible and that it is optimized to return results. The more web sites that have your information the more visitors you will attract, it is as simple as that. Also, optimizing your website to be returned in the search engines is also very important. You will be able to do this through keywords included on your pages. The more keywords you have that are directly and indirectly related to your content the better because the higher the keyword content the higher ranking you will receive through the search engines. You should be focused on writing short articles that focus on specific keyword phrases for your website. The more keywords you include and variations of keywords mean the more people you will be able to attract to your page.

Tip # 2 Trade Links

Trading links is another great tip for getting people to your web page. What you should do is evaluate your target market, the product you are selling and other related products. Then, for the other related products you do some research to find the best web pages that sell these products. Then, you suggest a link trade. The post a link to your web site and you post a link to theirs. This will not only you’re your web page returned higher in the rankings, but also more visitors because you will have access to the visitors on other web sites as well. However, be sure that the sites you want to trade links with are good quality sites. And in order for them to want to trade with you then your site will also need to be of good quality. Keep this in mind before making any contacts.

Tip #3 Submit to Directories

You should also submit your URL to as many popular directories as possible. However, in order for directories to be willing to list your web site you better have a good site and layout. If you are still working on that then you should hold off on contacting directories until you do. Also, your web pages will have to be completely finished and not works in progress. However, if you get some of the popular directories to list you then your web page will have a heavier ranking than the others, which means you will have more traffic.

What is Link Popularity?

What is Link Popularity?

by: F. Terrence Markle

Link popularity is simply the total number of web pages that link to your web page. Link popularity is an extremely important factor that is used by most of the major search engines to rank web pages and web sites. In general, the major search engines consider link popularity a key factor in their algorithms to determine the relevancy of your web page to a particular keyword search query.

Good link popularity is important because it can increase the visitor traffic to your web page. The reputation of your web site (i.e., votes of confidence from other web sites) is a measure of the site’s link popularity. Your web page rank (i.e., the position your web page occupies in a search engine’s results page) to a particular search query can be improved by increasing the number of relevant and quality web sites that have incoming links to your web page.

An incoming link is considered to be relevant if it is meaningful and relates to your web page. If you sell golf clubs online, relevant incoming links could be from: golf club manufacturers, golf apparel sites, competitors, golfrelated directories and so forth. In addition, internal links (links from web pages within your web site) are considered relevant and essential because they help your web page visitor to navigate your web site.

It is not enough to just have web page links coming into your web page (link popularity). The quality of the incoming link is also critical. A search engine will put more emphasis on a high quality web page (ranked high by a particular search engine) than on a low quality web page (ranked low by a particular search engine). It will take many lower quality incoming links to approach the level of a single high quality incoming link.

The major search engines do more than match the content of your web page to the keyword search query to determine if there’s a good match for a particular search. They look at the quality of the links to your web page. The reason is because there are thousands, if not millions, of web pages that contain the search query’s particular keyword or keyword phrase in the web page content. The search engines want to deliver a list of relevant and ordered web pages to meet a user’s query search.

In addition to the link popularity, search engines also look at the anchor text contained in the incoming link to your web page. It will consider your web page more relevant to the keyword query search if the text in the incoming link to your web page contains the queried keywords.

The number and quality of incoming links to your web page can be an excellent source of targeted and consistent visitor traffic to your site. In addition, search engines are more likely to index your web pages on a more frequent basis if you have many incoming relevant and quality links. The search engine spiders have a higher probability of finding you through the external incoming links to your site as your link popularity increases.

Reciprocal linking or link exchanging involves another web page linking to your web page and you linking back to their web page. If you select targeted and relevant web pages to exchange links with then you have a higher probability of gaining increased visitor traffic to your web page. In addition, your web page ranking on a search engine keyword query is also likely to improve as mentioned earlier.

Your overall marketing plan should include a link exchange campaign to help improve your search engine rankings and the visitor traffic to your web page. Spend the necessary time and energy to locate and exchange links with link exchange partners that provide a good match with your web page. Review the potential link partner’s web site theme and content to determine if their link would be relevant to your site. Consider only those web sites as exchange partners with themes or topics that complement or relate to your web page.

It is important that you have a good link exchange strategy in place and a process to manage the reciprocal links. Don’t link to a web page if they are not linking back to your web page. Link exchange campaigns require your attention and monitoring. You can perform the link exchange management manually or you can use a computer program that will do it for you.

There are a number of good programs that perform link exchange management functions. However, there are some programs that do a poor job. For example, some management software programs will perform automated search engine queries to harvest prospects that are not relevant for linking to your web page. Do not use ขlink farmsข in your link exchange campaign. These sites provide hundreds of nonrelevant links with no meaningful content to your site that the search engines can detect and potentially use to ban or penalize your site.

The vast majority web site owners that participate in a link exchange program do not understand the issues and benefits of the exchange. As a result, they do not maximize the potential value to be gained from the link exchange. Learn and implement the proper strategies and your web page will potentially benefit from improved search engine ranking and increased targeted and qualified visitors.

Every web site that provides links to other web pages should have a links page. Your links page will be an excellent resource for the visitors to your web site. Your web site will be more helpful and credible to your visitors if you provide useful and relevant links on your links page. You can start utilizing the power of your links page when it becomes a service to your visitors rather than a tool to obtain higher search engine ranking.

You need to categorize your links if you have a lot of outgoing links. Don’t try to put all your links on one links page where it has the appearance of a link farm (i.e., no valuable content or relevance) to the search engines that want to index the page. Create a useful links page that shows only the link categories with separate links that take your visitor to an individual link page for each category. The intent is to provide a resource for your visitors that is useful and can be easily navigated. Search engines love this type of structure that they can fully index.

The incoming links to your web page and the outgoing links to other web pages should be structured in a clear manner. Provide your link exchange partners with the exact HTML code to be included in the link on their web page. This code should include your URL, your anchor link text with the appropriate keyword or keyword phrase and a concise description that incorporates your web site name and the appropriate keyword or keyword phrase.

Marketing Using Minisites

Marketing Using Minisites

by: Paul Jesse

When it comes to making money online, there are a wide variety of web sites with different graphics and copy with some being very detailed and some not. The important thing is that both generate cash. If you have a home based internet business and are interested in marketing and selling your product, but don’t have a lot of money to invest in a fancy, professionally created Web site, then you should consider setting up minisites for your various products.

If you don’t know anything about website creation, this might sound a little intimidating to you. However, there really is nothing to worry about because setting up a minisite to market and sell your product does not require a lot of web page knowledge or experience and best of all it will not cost you very much.

First you will want to find a company to host your minisite. There are many companies online to choose from, so the best thing to do is search for ones that support the kind of web page you want and are within your budget. Then you can read reviews on them and find out which one will be the best fit for your minisite. Then, you need to register your domain name with them. Generally, you can register any domain name of your choosing, as long as someone else has not already registered it. If they have, be creative and come up with a new one that is just as pertinent to your product and also easy to remember. Then, you will pay a monthly hosting fee, which are generally under $10 a month if you find a good company. There are companies that host for free, but you will want to compare all of the services before you make a choice.

If you are not good at creating web pages on your own, then you probably want a hosting company that also has a web page builder included in their services. This will walk you step by step through the creation of your mini web page and it is easy and quick. You will have your very own mini web page before you know it with little investment and little to no stress.

Don’t let yourself get over excited however and think that you need multiple links and pages and the like. You will want to keep it simple, especially if you are just selling one product or service. You will want to have a description of the product and a ขplace order nowข link. That is all you need. Once the order has been placed, it is a good idea to have Paypal or some other payment web site that accepts a range of payment options in a variety of currencies so you do not limit yourself to one particular region of the world or people with credit cards.

Setting up a Minisite will not only increase your web traffic, but will also increase your business. Set up a minisite today and watch as your business grows.

Ogling at Google

Ogling at Google

by: Dustin Hemmerling

The world is being taken over by Google Adsense. Suddenly, the little guy can get a slice of big profits. But how exactly should you go about getting some of that money? This article will help you to decide what sort of webpage to make – one that will realize the biggest profits.

First, you should pick a theme where that has at least some competition. That is to say, if you create a web page about your parents, you may only get genealogy ads in your Adsense boxes. These may be(or may not – but likely are) very low paying ads and not the sort of capital you are after. Before building a web page you should check and see how much people are paying for a certain type of ad. To that end – ‘PC Bid browser’ will give you an idea how much advertisers are paying at Overture, and you can extrapolate or take an educated guess at Google Adsense.

But is finding the highest paying keyword really the best way to build a page around? Consider the point that there may be so much competition that your webpage may never visitors. If noone ever reads your site, you have no clicks, hence no real revenue. No, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. You need a topic that has low enough competition that people will actually find it on search engines, but also high enough competition that the ads you display have some ‘value’ to them.

A neat program called ‘keyword sleuth’ allows you to find alternate keywords that are still highly searched yet low in competition. Other programs do similar functions and are worth trying out.

You should create 6 or so general topics that you find a nice balance between competition and reward. Now how do you build a webpage that will give some new slant on the topic?

Does your webpage really need to be unique? Perhaps you could write an interesting page or two about a certain subject along with some interesting links. For instance, perhaps you want to write a web page on stock market trading. If you’ve ever been in the stock market you could write a truetolife trading experience. Make it exciting, while keeping it truthful. What led you to invest? What stocks did you trade and why? Did you make profits or lose your shirt? Do you have any helpful advice to give to new investors? Could you find a couple of links for free screeners or some other tool that would be useful to the reader? Did you employ any special techniques – humorous or not(like rubbing your cats stomach before placing a bid)?

What you really need is something interesting that people will read. It needs to somehow be tied into advertising dollars as well. I will leave all the technicalities about webpage optimization and the rest for another day – or perhaps another writer.

Thanks for reading and I hope you start your profitable business soon.

Know The Color Basics

Know The Color Basics

by: Blur Loterina

Do your print ads or web pages seem so flat that no one ever bothers looking at it? How would you like to make them more unique and attractive?

The key to a striking visual ad is the color. It gives life to any image. Take for example the cartoons that we watch on television and how they attract kids. We may also wonder why fast food and restaurants use the same color for their business or why banana catsup is colored red and not yellow.

Every color has its own characteristics. They represent different mood, personality or impression. In other words, colors influence people.

In deciding what color to use, you must first know the nature of your business. You cannot use just one color, or else your ad will look so plain and boring. However, using different colors can mess up your image or it may create a different impression to the viewers. Balance is important.

There are three basic color models used in graphics design, CMYK, RGB and Pantone.

In making printed images, it is best to use the CMYK color model. CMYK stands for cyan, magenta, yellow and black. It is referred to as the fourcolor process. This color model is commonly used in the printing process to produce fullcolor photographs and images. The advantage of using this model is that it reduces the cost of printing. When CMYK are combined, they produce the greatest number of printable colors. It is not advisable for use in singlecolor printing, though. Also, this model does not produce spot inks, such as metallic silver or gold.

Use the RGB (red, green and blue) color model in creating your web page images. All display devices, such as computer monitor or television, use this type of color mode. There are no cost limitations in the use of color for unprinted ad such as the web page. So you can use as much color as you want without fear of spending a lot of money on colors. In addition, current computer programs now offer a wide variety of colors.

Pantone colors are best suited for logos and corporate identity because it creates exact color match. This color model specifies consistency. If you want your printed company brochure to look exactly the same as how it appears on the computer, use pantone colors. The only drawback is that you will have to look for the right printer and paper. Glossy or coated paper tends to slightly alter the color. The difference between printed images on a glossy paper and a plain paper is very visible.

There’s a rule in color psychology that we must apply in designing print ads or web page. Use colors that will best describe the nature of your business. More importantly, your ad image must speak exactly what you want to tell the viewers.

You may wonder why I write articles. Besides from the fact that it’s my job, I used to write short stories when I was younger. I think it would be helpful if I said I’m a big fan of Zach de la Rocha and Rage Against the Machine. This would explain my own views about a lot of things. Their songs were about national issues, politics and human rights. They support the American Indian Movement and Che Guevara, the face you see on tshirts. Not that it concerns me. I only like their music and idealism.

I’m not an artist, I’m not a poet. I just love writing anything I want. I wasn’t born a genius, I just want to know and understand something I don’t. I like to find the difference between similar things. It’s like counting birthmarks on each identical twin.

Word of Mouth Marketing

Word of Mouth Marketing

by: Michael Southon

กWord of Mouthก is still one of the most effective marketing techniques, online or offline.

Joe arrives at your website and he likes it. In fact, heกd like to tell Fred about it. Itกs just the thing Fredกs been looking for. What if Joe could recommend your website to Fred by sending him an email straight from your website?

Well, he can…if you have an กemail to a friendก script installed on your website.

There are many free scripts that will do this for you. But the one I found easiest to install is a script developed by William Bontrager, called กMaster Recommendก.

This one was easy. I had it working on my second attempt.

You can see this script in action at: http://www.freezineweb.com/index.html

Basically all you have to do is (1) configure the cgi script and upload it to your cgi bin, (2) create a new web page with a form that is linked to the cgi script on your server.

You can download Master Recommend at: http://willmaster.com/master/recommend/mr.pl?v=zip

To get a detailed explanation of how to install it, visit: http://www.willmaster.com/master/recommend/MasterRecommend.manual.html

This script will even send you a copy of your visitorกs message (itกs useful to know what your visitors think about your website).

If you prefer not to have anything to do with cgi, thereกs a much easier way of putting กemail to a friendก on your site.

Thetellafriendnetwork.com has a program that is hosted on their site. Installing it is as simple as pasting some HTML code into your web page. Your visitors will be presented with a simple form where they can enter up to three of their friendsก email addresses.

You can add this service to your website at the following URL: http://www.thetellafriendnetwork.com/addasite.html

300% More Sales With A Simple ZeroCost Script!

300% More Sales With A Simple ZeroCost Script!

by: S. Kumar

Which word in the whole world sounds the most important to you?

Undoubtedly, Its your name!

The moment you see it or hear it any where, your antenna is up. Naturally and instinctively you notice your name wondering กwhat causedก it to pop up!

And you already know that personalizing your email messages is critical for your subscribers to respond. But can we take this same personalization a step further and extend it to even on our WebPages?

กIs it possible to call our subscribers by their name from the web page itself and stand out from the rest of the marketing crowd?

You can very effectively use this กpsychological triggerก on your web page and directly address your subscribers by their name when they hit on the links in your email messages or autoresponder messages.

For e.g. Just replace the กYourNameก from the below URL with your name and see how you are personally addressed on the Web page: http://www.learnhomebusiness.com/HomeBiz.htm?YourName

You do not have to be a techie to use this. My sales have tripled after incorporating this simple script to my important pages.

Here is the Magic Script

Please download the Webpage/Sales Page personalization script from here: http://www.learnhomebusiness.com/web_page_personalization.htm

4 Applications With The Web Personalization Script

Once you download the script, you can apply it to get triple results in various ways. 4 such suggestions are given below.

*#1. Ezine Campaigns: Before you start the campaign, just request the Ezine owner to place HIS personalization tag to YOUR url. e.g. www.yourcampaginurl.com?Personalizationtag

Each visitor will be pleasantly surprised and will be inclined to take closer look at your proposition.

*#2. Your Newsletters: Whenever you are sending a special or an issue, make sure that your pages are ready for personalization and insert the personalization tag in the emails. Your subscribers will be knocked out of their socks.

*#3. TellAFriend Page: Just imagine the feeling of the first time visitor to your site on advice and he finds he is being personally addressed. More often than not, he will want to stay and explore your site.

*#4. Autoresponder Sequences: Use the same principle on every email in the autoresponder. Each time when the reader hits on a link in the email, he is addressed personally by his name.

The sweetest word in anyoneกs personal dictionary is his own name. Why not address someone with what he likes most and in the process triple your sales too.

Are You Getting The Most From Your Meta Tags?

Are You Getting The Most From Your Meta Tags?

by: Francisco Aloy

As any Web Business startup knows, creating a Website is a bunch of work! You have to bother with content, layout, graphics and HTML links, just to name a few. What about your Meta Tags?

Meta Tags are words that are placed in your web page to provide a title, description and keywords to the Search Engine spiders or crawlers. They are not visible to visitors. To see a sample, open any website and click กViewก on the menubar, and choose กSource.ก Youกll see the Meta Tags up top, within the Head section of the web page.

Most Search Engines will rank your site on how well your Meta Tags provide a description of the content of your web pages. Google is the exception; it also takeกs into account the number and quality of backward links to your website. Here lately, thereกs been differing opinions on the relevancy of Googleกs Page Rank system. Some experts don’t consider it accurate or necessary.

Yet and still, there are many other Search Engines and a further study of Meta Tags is in order. We are going to base our Meta Tags revision on a tool known as a word Frequency Counter. It counts and separates the words in a web page or document, giving you an idea of what words are used most.

Here are some Web based Frequency Counters:

http://www.mytranslate.com/wordfrequency.htm

http://rainbow.arch.scriptmania.com/tools/word_counter.html

http://www.writewords.org.uk/word_count.asp

http://www.writewords.org.uk/phrase_count.asp

http://web4future.com/free/wordcount.htm

http://www.keywordcount.com/

Each one of the Frequency Counters above has different uses and qualifications. The Writewords counter has two flavors: word and phrase count. The Web4Future counter is Web based or a standalone download.

How to use them:

Copy and paste the content of the web page in question and see what the top word frequencies are. You can eliminate most articles and modifiers and concentrate on pure words. As an example: If your web page is about red and blue widgets, the words ‘red/blue/widgetsก should have the highest frequency.

A Word of Caution About Writing Content:

Use the Frequency Counters AFTER you write the web page content. Don’t allow word frequency to get in the way of your natural writing style. Do NOT attempt to hit a certain frequency percentage; youกll be penalized by many Search Engines for too much keyword usage.

In Closing

Though the word Frequency Counters are good tools for a quick check, nothing compares to laserfocused writing for good Meta Tags information. Let your writing flow naturally and stay concentrated on your subject keywords. If you do that, youกll find it easy to weave your keywords into your content and Meta Tags.

How to Write Web Page Titles to Enhance Your Site

How to Write Web Page Titles to Enhance Your Site Exposure

by: Kempton Smith

A carefullywritten title for your web page can enhance your site exposure and attract more visitors. Hereกs how to write an effective web page title.

What is a web page title?

In your web page HTML code, the page title (also called the title element or just the title) is the text that is enclosed by the opening and closing TITLE tags.

The title should be placed between the HEAD tags, ideally just after the beginning HEAD tag and before the first META tag.

The title is one of the most important elements of a web page for a variety of reasons.

*Most browsers will display your page with the title at the top of the browser window.

*If visitors bookmark your page in their browsers, their bookmark lists will show your page using just the title. Many web page titles default to กHome Page.ก So if the title of your web page is กHome Pageก, your visitorsก bookmark lists will contain a lot of กHome Pageก listings.

*Google and other search engines present the results of a search by displaying page titles as links in the first line of each query result. Search engines doesn’t like to display กHome Pageก as the best they can do for a user searching for กpurple people eaters,ก for example.

*Most search engines will order the results of a search engine query based on the relevancy of your page to the keywords used for the query. One of the factors in determining this relevancy is how closely your title matches these keywords. If your small startup company makes purple people eaters, don’t give your home page the title กUnknown Business, Inc.ก Itกs not relevant to the search.

You can see that the title of your web page is highly visible to others, and it can impact the search engine ranking and visibility of your web page. It is therefore worthwhile to spend some time carefully writing each page title.

Practical tips for writing page titles.

Here are some practical tips you can use for crafting an effective web page title.

*Start by thinking hard about how your potential visitors will search for your site. What keywords or keyword phrases will they use for a search engine query? Use one or two of the most important keyword phrases for your title. In our example, the home page title could be กPurple People Eaters.ก

*Don’t just use the same title for all your web site pages. Your About page title could be กAbout Unknown Business, Inc., Your Source for Purple People Eaters.ก Your Order page title could be กHow to Order Purple People Eaters.ก

*Don’t include your company name in the title unless it is a commonly recognized name or the page is about your company. Use the limited real estate in a title for relevant keywords. You can include your company name in the description META tag of your web page.

*Make sure the title does not exceed 66 characters. Google will not display more than 66 characters of a title in the search results page. Truncated titles irritate search engine users.

*Don’t use more than 710 words in your title.

*Be careful when using some web page generators or editors. Many will either ignore the title or make up an ineffective title like กyour title goes here.ก

Summary.

Understand what the title element of a web page is, why it is important, and follow these practical tips for writing your web page titles. Your internet visibility will be improved, you will improve your search engine ranking, and you will get more visitors to your web site.

Google AdSense is easy to install on a web page or blog and constitutes additional source of income without spending anything. You have to apply online for Google AdSense Program and generally approval comes from Google within two days. Those having AdWord account can use AdWord email address and password for AdSense account also. After acceptance of application, Google confirms creation of your Adsense account thru email. You get a code for AdSense text ads and another code for AdSense search. These codes are to be installed on web page or blog and within minutes the page will start displaying ads from Google, and a Google search bar. AdSense is available in dozen languages worldwide.

The code for AdSense can be placed on any of your web pages. I think placing it on your blog will give you distinct advantage because blogs have several points in their favor. They are easily indexed by search engines. Recently two of my simple blogs were indexed by Google within 23 days of submission of URLกs which I think is quite fast. With Yahoo! it is even easier just add the URL of your blog to your My Yahoo page and Yahoo! will start accessing it immediately. GoogleAlert is a free tool that can be used to know when your blog is indexed by Google.

You can have your blog up and running in minutes free of cost from several sites that provide this service. I personally use blogger.com. With blogs you do not need to worry about designing websites, registering domain name or hiring web site hosting service. You simply write your content on the blog and it is ready for publication.

With AdSense wide range of options is available number of ads for display, shape and size of display, color schemes. More than 200 colors are available from which you can choose color for border, background and text. 24 preset color palettes are readily available; in addition you can have your own custompalette to match with the appearance of your web page. Similarly, color schemes are available for Google search bar.

When the web page is opened, Google ads are placed which match with the content of the page and are highly relevant. Google finds right ads for the web page from 100,000 AdWord advertisers.

Several options are available for the ads that you would like to be displayed on your page. Ad filters can be activated which will block up to 200 URLกs of your choice which you do not want to show on your page. You may like to filter away ads from your competitors. You can even choose your own default ads for display. Google uses sensitive content filters to prevent display of sensitive material. If you find that your page is not really getting relevant ads, it may be time to look critically at the content of the page, particularly the keywords used in text, links and tags. Little SE optimization of the page should resolve this problem.

Sometimes Google places public service ads when no target ads are available. To suppress public service ad, it is possible to specify your own image ad or HTML page ad which will appear in place of public service ad. This ensures that some ad is always present there. Or, if you like, the space reserved for Adsense ads can be made to collapse.

AdSense tracker is another useful feature which tracks the ads on your pages and generates report for you. The reports can be customized based on requirement. Typically reports can give page impressions displayed, number of clicks and clickthru rates. It is also possible to check earnings any time.

Web page owner can make use of all these facilities and try to get best results. With the help of Ad tracker lot of useful information can be obtained which ads are doing well, which color combination gets better results, which location of the web page is best for showing ads and so on. This analysis can be used to improve traffic as well as clickthru rates.

With AdSense you have virtually nothing to lose. If you have not yet installed AdSense on your website you can perhaps give it a thought. Any free space which can be created on your website to accommodate AdSense can be used to generate additional income.

Design A Spider Friendly Site

Design A Spider Friendly Site

by: Matt Colyer

To be successful in the search engines itกs important to design your web site with the spiders in mind. Using the latest in web page design is not generally the best way to go. Spiders don’t view web pages like humans do, they must read the HTML in the page to see what itกs about. Below you will find tips on how to best design your web site with search engines in mind.

Do not use frames at all. Some search engines cannot spider web pages with frames at all. For the other search engines that can, they can have problems spidering it and sometimes they too can’t index the web page. Do not only use imageกs to link out. You should always use text links to link out to important content on your web site. Spiders can follow image links, but like text links more though.

Use external JavaScript files instead of using Java Script code in the HTML document, using Java Script in the HTML document will make the page size much larger. Using an external Java Script file to do the job will reduce page size and make it easier for both spiders and browsers to download the page. Using Cascading Style Sheets can reduce page size and making the download time much faster in most cases. It will allow the spider to index your web page faster and can help your ranking.

Avoid using web page creators such as FrontPage, Dreamweaver or a WYSIWYG editor. Software such as that will often times add scripting code that is not needed, making the page larger than it needed to be and making it harder to crawl. It will also add code that can’t be read by the search engines, causing the spider not to index the page or not index the whole web page. It is better to use standard HTML. Adding code that they can’t read or have a hard time to read can lead to major problems with your ranking.

Try not to use Flash when possible. Flash cannot be read by the search engines to date and will cause download time to slow a bit. If you do decide to use Flash anyway, make sure you add text to the web page, so the search engines have something to read and find out what your web page is about. It will also allow your visitors to have something to read while the Flash file loads. Also don’t use Flash as a way of navigation, as I said before spiders cannot read Flash.

Itกs important to add a site map to your web site. Not only will this make it easier for internet surfers to get around your web site, but it will also allow spiders to find your siteกs content easier and index your web page sooner. The site map should contain text links and not image links.

I highly suggest that you look at your web page with a Lynx browser because this is similar to how search engines will view your web page. There are other tools on the internet that will allow you to view your web page without a Lynx browser, but see a web page just like it, so you may want to check those out as well.
