Is Working at Home Really Right for You?

Is Working at Home Really Right for You?

by: Wendy Betterini

If youกve just begun your search for a work at home job, you probably have a beautiful concept of what working from home is like. You probably imagine yourself waking up whenever you want, sliding your feet into fuzzy slippers and shuffling to the kitchen to get some coffee, then shuffling along to your office to put in another wonderful day at work, then later going to the mailbox to pick up your weekly paycheck of several thousand dollars. I hate to burst your bubble, but it doesn’t work that way. Actually, let me clarify that and say it doesn’t always work that way.

The truth is, working at home is usually a lot harder than working in an office somewhere. Scammers and hypedup business opportunity ads have given us the belief that working at home is ohsoeasy. We just relax on a tropical beach, then go collect our paychecks. Iกm sure youกve seen ads like that. Those of us who already work at home know better!

Here are some things you should consider before jumping into a work at home job:

How much do you want to earn? If you want to work for an employer as a telecommuter, be prepared to earn less than you would at a job outside the home. A job that pays $11.00 an hour in the regular workforce might pay $7 or $8 an hour at home. There are exceptions of course. Some jobs, like virtual assisting, web design and graphics, medical transcription and coding and other professional jobs will probably pay more than a simple data entry or customer service job. Many work at home jobs don’t pay hourly either. For data entry work, you might get paid per piece, and for telephone jobs you might get paid per ‘talk minuteก (only those minutes you are actually on the phone with a customer.)

Do you need benefits? The majority of work at home jobs do not provide benefits like health insurance or life insurance. Again, there are exceptions.

Taxes There are companies that will hire you as an actual กemployeeก and they will take taxes out of your pay. But some will only hire you as an กindependent contractor,ก and you are responsible for paying your own taxes.

Work availability If you are hired as an independent contractor, itกs important to understand that your employer is not obligated to provide any work for you. Most companies have busy seasons and slow seasons. During a busy season, you might be working 4050 hours a week, and then the slow season arrives and suddenly you’re fighting to get even 10 hours of work per week. If your income is especially important to your household, definitely keep that in mind. However, many people choose to work more than one job at a time. If one slows down, they simply start working more for the other.

How motivated are you? If you are the type of person who usually needs a kick in the rear to get moving, working at home will be very hard on you. You have to be extremely disciplined to sit down at the computer, log in and actually WORK each day. There are so many distractions in the home that will pull you away from work if you let them. You have to be very focused and set a schedule for yourself, just like you would at a job outside the home.

Do you mind solitude? Working at home can be lonely. If you thrive on social interaction, working alone can be difficult to adjust to. However, you can ease this by spending time with friends frequently, or joining some online groups to chat with like minded people.

Flexibility Some employers require you to work a specific set schedule, while others might be more flexible, allowing you to choose your own hours. Give some thought to which type of schedule would work best for you. When I first decided to work at home, I made the mistake of choosing a job that had a rigid schedule, and I hated it! I had forgotten that that was one of the things I disliked about working outside the home living by someone elseกs schedule. Think about how you work best, and choose accordingly.

Childcare So many mothers want to work at home so they can raise their own children, rather than sending them to a daycare. However, working at home with small children underfoot is no easy task! Itกs not impossible, and it depends greatly on the ages of your children and what type of work you are doing at home. If you work a telephone job, most employers will require a very quiet background, which is impossible if you have small children. You also can’t stop working every few minutes to entertain the kids, unless you want to put in a very long day at the computer to make up for all the interruptions. There are certainly things you can do to make it easier, like have a neighborhood teenager come in for a few hours to watch your children while you work, or work only when your spouse is home and can keep an eye on the kids.

Choosing work that fulfills you This is SO important! Right now you’re probably thinking, กI don’t care what type of work I do, as long as it brings in a paycheck.ก I guarantee that attitude won’t last long. Like I said, you will need to be extremely selfmotivated and selfdisciplined to work at home, and your job will be a lot easier if you actually like what you do! Think about the type of person you are, and the type of work that suits you best. Are you creative and freespirited, or nosetothegrindstone efficient? Give some thought to your กvisionก of working at home, and try to find a job (or business) that will complement that.

Do you even want a กjob?ก When some people decide they want to กwork at home,ก they don’t want a regular JOB at all. What they want is the freedom to set their own schedule and do work they love. Itกs certainly possible to find those qualities in a job, but it can be difficult. If this describes you, consider starting your own business instead, focusing on your existing talents and abilities. I think many people shy away from this idea because it seems so overwhelming. But people do this every day! Itกs not hard at all. If you don’t know much about business but have an interest, start learning! There are so many great resources on the internet today. If you’re still not sure what type of work at home is best for you, get out a pad of paper and a pen. Write this sentence along the top of the page: I want to work at home because . . . and then write down as many endings to that sentence as you can think of. If most of your answers have to do with freedom and passionate, fulfilling work, a กjobก might not be the best thing for you.

Regardless of what type of work you decide on, understand that working at home can be difficult and challenging. But for most of us who do it, it is also wonderful. Personally, I wouldn’t trade it for anything! And once you find the right job or business, you will probably feel the same.

If this article has given you the impression that working at home might not be for you, remember that you can change if you want it badly enough. If you’re not very motivated, work on that. Give yourself little challenges every day and strengthen your level of selfdiscipline. If you need health benefits, keep searching for a job that provides them, or research other possibilities like affordable health insurance for the selfemployed. If your resolve is strong enough, you can make it happen! Never give up on your dreams.

Work At Home, Go Bankrupt At HomeItกs Your Choic

Work At Home, Go Bankrupt At HomeItกs Your Choice

by: Isaiah Hull

If you want to make an income working at home, you must mitigate spending in the early phases of your venture. If you spend wildly, you will never make money. I can promise you this now. It happens to almost every person who tries to work at home; it happened to me and I nearly gave up, too.

It is fine to set high goals, but you must always be grounded in reality when it comes to your finances. You must record your expenses and you must plan to buy certain products and services at certain times. If you do not do this, you will overspend and you will fail. This is a guarantee.

Part of careful budgeting is learning what works and what does not. As annoying as it may seem, it is essential to track the results you get from all forms of advertising and expenses. You will have to slash unnecessary costs if you want to succeed. If your marketing plan is to purchase every opportunity you find, operate on a high outofpocket budget, and hope that throwing money at your problems will fix them, you wont see the results you want. You will slowly lose money and confidence.

I do not care how much money you are willing to lose: your success will be directly related to your patience and the economics of your business modelnot an opportunity you might happen to stumble over one day.

Patience is something you either have or will develop quickly working at home. If you do not have the patience to work out problems, to find the best products and services without buying each one, and to buy only when you need tonot when you feel the impulseyou will waste a lot of money; however, this problem will work itself out: either you will go broke and give upor you will learn to have patience.

The economics of your business model is also something that you will shape over time and continually change. When you begin your work at home venture, it is essential to research your field, find the best opportunities, verify them through multiple independent sources, and then create a budget based on your best judgement. It is also essential to be selective when you alter your budget. When you find an opportunity or service that you really want to purchase, write it down. Find more information about it. Come back to it at the start of your new budget period.

If you want to get the highest possible consistent return on your spending, you must maintain a focused, dynamic budget. This means you must concentrate your spending, track the results, and then be ready to change your budget for the next period to reflect your analysis of the previous monthกs outcomes. Do not shift from service to service during the same budget period. This will only obscure your results.

Joining a group of people who want to work at home is one of the best ways to artificially shape your budget model faster. You can find hundreds of these groups on the Internet alone; and in each of these groups, you will find people who are more experienced than you are, have tried some of the things you plan to try, and can tell you what has and has not worked for them. If you want to maximize your spending, this is one of the best places to start. There is no better resource than real, live people, who have succeeded in your field and are willing to tell you how you can do the same.

In summary, working at home offers opportunityseekers flexibility and unlimited income possibilities, but if you do not apply the correct business model to control your spending, your statistical chance of succeeding is low. If you do the following things, you will succeed:

Keep a dynamic, focused budget.

Remain patient.

Track your results.

Find mentors and friends in your field to help you.

Remember: You can go broke at home or you can retire early working from home. The choice is yours: be patient and economical and you will see results; or act spuriously and reap failure.

Can I Really Make Money At Home Filling In Online

Can I Really Make Money At Home Filling In Online Surveys?

by: Nicole Boles

It’s true, this is a very viable approach to many stay at home moms, and dads, college students, retirees, and you name it. No one really believed you could actually earn a monthly income just from getting involved with survey companies and focus groups. It is a simple approach to earning an honest income at home. Most people who desire to work at home, don’t have 8 to 9 hours a day to devote to working, therefore filling in surveys and participating in focus groups is the perfect job. The reason for this is that you can accept whatever assignments you choose and work on them, whenever you choose. The beauty of this job is that when you put your kids to bed at night, you can actually go sit down at your computer and fill out 2 to 3 surveys and earn about $80 to $100 for your time. To give you more assurance that this is a career you can have at home, take today for example, I got a phone call this morning to invite me to participate in a focus group – the pay is $85 for one hour, when I went to my email I had a consumer review survey, paying $15 for 30 minutes. I also had invites to 2 surveys that paid $5 for 10 minutes each of my time. So for one day, I made $110 for less than 2 hours’ work. It is a beautiful thing!

Companies in United States and Canada spend an average of $250 billion in advertising. These companies need to know what the public wants and what they will buy. They also need to know which of their marketing campaigns would encourage consumers to purchase their products. This is where the survey fillers come in. These companies need your opinion and will pay you handsomely for it. It is imperative to their business to have an everyday persons’ opinion on their products and services. For these companies and for the paid survey filler, it is a winwin situation.

Think you would be interested in getting paid for your time, opinions and observations? Read on…

HOW DO YOU GET STARTED EARNING MONEY FILLING IN SURVEYS?

Letกs get started with how to start an at home career by filling in surveys, to do this you need to follow these steps:

Step1: REGISTER WITH ALL THE COMPANIES: This can seem like a long task, but take our word for it, it will pay off. The more companies you register with the more invites to participate in surveys, and thus…more money for you. Even if a survey only gives prizes as rewards, register with them anyways. You would be amazed how many of our members have earned big rewards by winning those survey draws.

Step 2: BE HONEST IN YOUR OPINION: Companies are looking for individuals from all walks of life to fill surveys, there is not one mainstream demographic that they are searching for.

Step 3: CHECK COMPANIES FREQUENTLY: There are several companies that don’t send out email invites to every survey, make sure to browse these companies often to see if there is any paid surveys to participate in.

Step 4: FILL IN THE ADDITIONAL PROFILES: There are several companies that urge you to fill in additional profiles (i.e.: what vehicle you drive, your spending habits online, etc.) I too, urge you to fill in these additional profiles, as they will qualify you for even more surveys, and you will get more invites.

STEP 5: WORK FOR YOURSELF: You are now working for your own income, and it is up to you how much you earn. Your effort in this process is what will pay off, be determined in your surveys, and you will see the benefits!!!

5 Signs It Is Time To Leave Your Day Job

5 Signs It Is Time To Leave Your Day Job

by: Stephen Mistretta

Have you ever woken up in the middle of Sunday night in a cold sweat dreading you have to go to work Monday?

I have. And I am sure a lot of you have also.

What causes this and what is the solution? You internally dislike your job and finding a new job is the solution. Perhaps working from home where you are in control.

Throughout my work career I’ve had the opportunity to work at jobs I really enjoyed such as the US Army, a large financial planning firm as well as one of the larger ขBig Boxข retail chains.

I have also had the experience of working for a few companies where lying was the norm and Nepotism (hiring family members against company policy) was accepted.

Through these experiences I have come up with 5 key signs and or reasons it is time for a person to move on.

Your boss lies to the clients on a daily basis. I used to work in the digital printing industry where deadlines are tight and machinery does break down. I used to hear the owner lie to the customers about when a project would be completed. Of course I was the one left at the shop to explain to the customer why the job wasn’t done. The first time you hear the boss lie to a client I suggest you do two things. The first confront the boss professionally and tactfully and ask them why they lied. Usually they will try to sugar coat it, state right then and there it is something you do not agree with. Look for a solution for future potential problems. The second thing you should do is start looking for another job.

Your company or boss promises you a raise, bonus or time off and doesn’t follow through. A good friend of mine told me a story of how she worked for a company and her boss promised her three days off if they made there goal for the quarter. Well my friend worked her butt off and made the sales necessary to ขmakeข the quarter. Her boss then told her they had to double the quarter’s revenue in order to qualify for the three paid days off. She protested and the boss came back with ขthat’s what we agreed onข which of course was not the case. When you are working with a boss who is so pathetic it is better to move on. Keep your cool and start looking for a job, or better yet start your own business.

Your boss asks you to supervise one of there relatives. Remember the ขBlood is thicker then waterข from experience I can tell you it is true. Another good friend relayed a story to me about working for one of the larger ขone stopข digital presentation companies. He was hired as an assistant Branch manager or in this case the hired gun to clear out the deadwood. During his numerous interviews the Branch manager assured him that the fact many of their friends and also her Brother worked there he would have the authority and support to bring things back up to corporate standards. Well after the Brother showed up late three times my friend wrote the brother up for being late. Well guess what the sister/Branch Manager didn’t write him up the next time he was late (my friend was off that day). That sent a signal to the Brother that it was ok to ignore my friend as the Branch manger wasn’t writing him up. Moral of the story do not join companies where you will be a direct supervisor of a relative of your supervisor. It is nice to think it will work but it in a large majority of cases will not.Get out while you can.

Your boss asks you to lie for them. Once you start lying your boss will feel they got you right where they want you. Don’t do it. First thing to do is check with your labor board see if this is illegal and do you have any protection, second start looking for another job and third tactfully and professionally confront your boss, being prepared to be fired. If you are fired just wish them the best of luck, (this will most likely later drive them nuts thinking about it). Think about it why would you trust this person at all anymore, especially now that they are trying to drag you into there lies. Final point if you do something illegal or immoral for the boss and someone finds out about it who do you think the boss is going to point there finger at? You!!

You keep getting phone calls from creditors of your work place while at work. I went through this and the owner asked me to tell the creditors he was not there. OK maybe one time but after that pack your bags. Think logically if they aren’t paying the creditors what makes you think they will pay you.

When you decide it is time to leave above all for your next job do something you love. This will help soften life’s negative blows allot. Life is to short to be miserable and also to short to be working with pathetic small minded people. Always try to leave on good terms with a job waiting but realize sometimes for your own mental health sake you might have to just leave. Happiness IS NOT dependent on money, happiness is dependent on mental well being

When Your Office Is Home

When Your Office Is Home

by: Jenna Glatzer

Itกs easy to get obsessed. Really, it is. With work, with the almighty dollar, with achieving and building your business.
When your office is home, there is no clock to punch, no rush hour drive to get as far away from the madness as possible. No, when you work from home, itกs all up to you. You can work as little or as much as you like. Unfortunately, most homeworkers fall into the two extremes: those who don’t work enough, and those who work too much.
The ones who don’t work enough get caught up in the กhomeก aspect of the home office. Something is always calling them away: a crying baby, the laundry, a trip to the convenience store, a pot on the stove, daytime TV shows. They give in to temptation and never truly put in an honest dayกs work. Then they come to me and ask how in the world Iกm so productive.
Itกs because I fall into the other extreme category. Im a fulltime writer, and I get caught up in the กofficeก aspect of the home office. It gets simple to see each minute as a potential dollar, and each day as a new possibility to sell the novel, write the next bestseller, break into the almighty national magazine market.
Know that when you are selfemployed, you won’t have anyone looming over your desk to keep you on track. Sure, that may sound delicious, but do some real selfassessing: can you handle it?
If no one tells you when and how to work, will you have the discipline necessary to earn a living? Will you ever start your work? Will you ever stop?
When you get hooked into the cycle of never truly leaving officemode, the point of working from home gets diminished. Sure, you may work in your pajamas, but you wind up putting in more hours than you would have at a day job, and you forget to enjoy the perks of being selfemployed.
The single cure for either extreme mode is the same: set goals and meet them. If you’re not getting enough work done, set an attainable goal (write a new press release before noon, or make five cold calls before the end of the day), and keep to it, no matter how you have to juggle your life around it. If you’re working too much, set that same goal and then STOP. Write those releases, or make those calls, and then get up from that chair, stretch, and do something that doesn’t involve work in any manner.
I once read something that has stuck with me (pardon me for not knowing the attribution): At the end of your life, will you regret not putting in more overtime?
As for me, Iกll be embarrassed to die until Iกve achieved a lifestyle with a better balance: One that involves more family and fun time, and less time logged in my computer chair.
Sanity breaks are so important, and if you’re going to freelance fulltime, you have to set limits. You have to take days off, rediscover your significant otherกs birthmarks, and just plain enjoy life. Otherwise, why are you working? Remember what it is youre working toward and why you chose to work at home.
If you’re like me, you may work better with a written schedule. On this schedule, write down both your work responsibilities and your กplayก responsibilities. Mine sometimes looks like this:
9:0012:00: Work on new article for XYZ Magazine.
12:001:00 Lunch break.
1:005:00 Write query and send it to 5 new markets.
5:006:00: Cook dinner.
6:007:00 Dinner.
7:008:00 Exercise.
…and so on.
I keep a daily schedule book that has room for me to write down all of my ‘to doก list each day. If you lose track of time, you may want to set an alarm clock to remind you when itกs time to quit, or you may try setting your computer to กdefragmentation modeก at a particular time each day (your กquitting timeก).
Commit to becoming less extreme. Working from home is a wonderful thing… in moderation.

How My New Internet Business Achieved Truly Explos

How My New Internet Business Achieved Truly Explosive Growth From A Standing Start in Less Than 6 Weeks!!

by: Chris Billington

I don’t know about you but personally I always fancied the idea of getting in on some of that internet action. I was often in awe of some of those sites I discovered when I was browsing, you know the ones how to gain your own independence, run your own internet business, be your own boss. These people were living their dream, working from home, carving out their own piece of the internet but I soon found that they all had one thing in common. They never really gave away how they were doing what they were doing; they never revealed their ขreal secrets to successข. Sure they wanted to sell me something but they didn’t really want to help me.

OK, I did find a solution, hire a website designer, marketing consultant and copywriter to design an internet based business from scratch for me. After four weeks of making enquiries, gathering quotes – a lot of companies did not even bother to respond – I soon realised that some of the rates they wanted to charge me would have sent the cost spiralling. I could easily have spent $1000’s and to me, and a lot of other people I am sure, this was ridiculous. Also the hassle factor of trying to get all the individuals to work on the same project would have been a logistical nightmare, and the results would have been far from guaranteed.

There was another alternative of course, I could build my own website, learn some copywriting techniques, embark on some fastback study course in marketing……..now don’t get me wrong, I am all for self learning and doing things myself but to be honest this stuff takes many months and sometimes even years to master, years that I would rather be ขearning while learningข.

So what did I do? Well, completely by accident I stumbled across somebody offering a website building service based around a proven online money making system. Furthermore this website runs on autopilot and it is working right now 24 hours a day seven days a week pulling in profits and, even more incredibly, the person behind the concept is always on hand to help me.

At 49 years old, and being fortunate enough to have retired twice in my forties I know a good thing when I see it. I carried out an initial evaluation and soon realised that what was on offer was a real chance, to make real money and all with unparalleled support from the business originator. I fully understand the power of following a successful formula so I immediately set the wheels in motion.

During the last week in August I set off into the World Wide Web with no previous internet business or marketing experience but full of expectation and here I am writing this on October 3rd because I just had to let you all know how it’s going.

Now look at this Truly Explosive Growth!!

During that last week in August I was really pleased to say that my new project received 13 hits from 10 unique visitors, boy was I pleased to see it working and what a great feeling it is to know that visitors are coming to your website. But wait, it gets better, during the month of September my site had received 9,920 hits from 1651 visits, whew! But look at this in the first two days of October my website has seen 8,389 hits from 1414 visitors – yes you read that right, that’s 8,389 hits in two days!!!!!!!! This breakthrough has been achieved in less than 6 weeks and all from a standing start.

Do I sound thrilled, you bet I am, wouldn’t you be thrilled if you were in my shoes? Well the good news is you can be.

Sometimes some things are hard to believe and this may seem like one of them but trust me these results go way, way beyond my wildest dreams.

Why am I telling you? Because I have discovered that the easiest way in the world to earn a full time monthly income on the internet is from affiliate programs. I was offered the chance to copy a simple system that helps me to produce as much income as possible as quickly as possible in multiple affiliate programs at one time by becoming a ขsuperaffiliateข. Now that I have proof that it works I am sharing this great opportunity with you.

Click the link to see how easy it to become a ขsuperaffiliateข with your own powerful, profit generating high traffic content site; www.bizStore24.com/pluginprofit.

One final point, you will be amazed when you see how much it costs to have your own personal website built – absolutely nothing – it’s free!!

Get one for yourself and then drop me a line in a few weeks, once you start pulling in those massive residual profits, I would love you to share your success story with me,

How HomeBased Business Entrepreneurs Think

How HomeBased Business Entrepreneurs Think

by: Dinar P. WiriaAtmadja

Too many people are trying to start their home businesses with an ordinary employeeกs way of thinking. This has become a common reason why not long after sitting down and giving it a fair look into even the most lucrative business opportunity they bump into, they put it away and decide not to take any chances.
What has happened here is that the most lucrative business opportunity has been looked into by an ordinary 9to5worker, who appears NOT to be businessminded.
If you are like most people, you have probably considered starting your own business yourself. But above all, you have to understand that to make into a successful Business Entrepreneur, one has to change their way of thinking first.
1. DO NOT EXPECT FAST CASH!
Besides gambling or winning a lottery, working as an employee is the only way to get กfastก cash… กfastก as in กin25workingdaysก. This kind of cash is always certain to come in as long as you work from 9 to 5 for your boss. But as you probably already know it, as soon as you stop, the money stops. (See FinancialFreedomAwaits.com).
True entrepreneurshipminded people know that it takes time to develop an กattack planก for their businesses. It takes time to build a strong and solid business, which delivers ongoing income through many years.
True Business Entrepreneurs hold on to this truth, กWe reap what we sow, but the harvest is never in the same season as the planting.ก
Change your way of thinking:
DO NOT EXPECT FAST CASH!
2. AIM FOR JOB SECURITY OR FINANCIAL SECURITY?
Employees would rather have jobsecurity. Why? Simple: the income is secure. As long as you loyally work from 9 to 5, you will for certain get your cash! The problem with a typical job is that when you stop, the money stops.
The stark fact is: one day you might get sick and won’t be able to go back to work. Sooner or later you will retire. Companies get broke and have to release their employees. No matter what the situation, as soon as you stop working, the money will stop coming.
So much for secure income…!
A job with secure income is necessary for those who has not set up their own business yet. True. But a true Business Entrepreneur won’t settle merely for jobsecurity. He aims for much more, such as financial security. No, he won’t have fast cash. And no, he won’t have any secure income yet at least not in the beginning. And often, he won’t have any income at all from his new business for the first few months.
Business entrepreneurs think of the big picture. What they do is building assets from which his money will come in month after month, year after year from work he is doing now! The money will not come now. It might not even come for the next few months. But as soon as his business is up and running, it will keep generating income for him, even when he chooses to stop working!
And THAT is financial security!
Change your way of thinking:
THINK OF THE BIG PICTURE: AIM FOR FINANCIAL SECURITY!
3. GENERATE PASSIVE INCOME
Financial freedom is not measured by how much money you earn by working, but how much money comes in with only little or no work at all. This later kind of income is called passive income. This fact has been known for decades by real wealthy people.
Successful and wealthy entrepreneurs do only little work and sometimes it is even possible to do the work only once but still generate recurring income on it. Imagine a song or a book writer. They write their songs or books once but get paid forever on it. This doitoncegetpaidforever type of income is called residual income.
Most people who have attained financial freedom have other people working to generate income for them. Earning money by other peopleกs effort is called leveraged income.
As hard as it may seem, to create leveraged income, you need to have your own business where other people work to generate income for you. Any business. Whether it is a traditional business, franchise, small business, internet based or home based.
Employees work to generate secure income. Business Entrepreneurs work to build assets with income streams which generates for him ongoing passive income (either residual or leverage income or both). In other words Business Entrepreneurs work to build himself what I would call a กmoneymachineก which is designed to generate ongoing income.
Whereas the Employee can not stop working because otherwise he will lose his income, the Business Entrepreneur will have money coming in constantly, even when he chooses not to work, simply because it is his assets that generate residual and leverage income for him.
Change your way of thinking:
TAP INTO PASSIVE INCOME BY GENERATING RESIDUAL & LEVERAGED INCOME!
4. INVESTMENTS
It is common for people who seek job security to hesitate to invest. The reason is understandable: for some of us the risks of investing in a business are just too much to handle.
A true Business Entrepreneur understands that in order to build what I would call a กmoneymachineก, investments are necessary. There is just no such things as businesses without investments. He knows that it takes time and effort to develop a successful business. But he also knows that investing money is just as important!
Sometimes it takes the Business Entrepreneur a year or two before he can finally reap the big success. Sometimes even a bit more. It takes a couple of years of investing time, effort and money. But this is not too hard for him to handle. A true Entrepreneur thinks long term. He knows that in the end, his working and money investing will finally pay off!
A Home Based Business Entrepreneur would only have to invest just 510 hours a week for a couple of years and he would only have to make low budget investments into his home based business. And at the end of the time of working and investing, our Entrepreneur would have turned it into a significant amount of residual income stream!
Iกm not talking about money that comes in today and is gone tomorrow but income that keeps coming in month after month, year after year… money that as Gery Carson has put it กwhen youกve left this planet continues to provide for your spouse, children, or grandchildren.ก
By then you would think that all your valuable time and money you have spent would be worth it.
Commonly an ordinary employee, who fears too much to invest, works hard to receive his pay check every month. Most likely he even retires broke. Before he knows it, he leaves the planet with nothing to leave for his family.
A true Business Entrepreneur is prepared to invest. He knows by investing in his business he is building assets that would generate passive and residual income for him throughout his years on this planet and the years of his grandchildren.
Change your way of thinking: THINK LONG TERM: START INVESTING!

Turning Your Services into a Product

Turning Your Services into a Product

by: C.J.Hayden

One of the biggest challenges in selling professional services is that what you are offering is intangible. Your product can’t be seen, touched, or tasted. Until your prospective clients experience what you do, they have no way of knowing if it will turn out, whether they will like it, and how well it will work in their situation. To make a buying decision, the client must first trust that your work will produce the result that they need.

The most common way to package professional services is by the hour or day. The client pays for your time, and they keep paying until the project is declared complete. But clients are often resistant to this. You will hear them say, กI don’t want to leave it openended,ก ‘that seems high for an hourly rate,ก กIกm not sure my budget will allow for this,ก or even กIกm not quite clear what it is Iกd be getting.ก

You can overcome these barriers to making a sale by กproductizingก your services. This awkward term simply means that you make your service look more like a product, so that it becomes easier for your clients to buy. You give it a defined scope, fit it into a limited time period, assign it a definite price tag, and attach a distinctive name.

Letกs say you are an image consultant, and youกve been selling your time for $75 per hour. Instead, you offer a กOneDay Makeoverก at a price of $495, and include a wardrobe assessment, color consultation, and shopping trip. You’re giving your clients a defined result with a clear timeframe and set price, making it easy for them to buy. Plus, you are able to let clients experience a range of the services you offer and suggest additional ways they can work with you.

A market research consultant working with corporate clients at $150 per hour could instead provide a กMarket Position Blueprintก for a flat fee of $2500. The package would include a comparison matrix of three key competitors, qualitative data from interviews with six loyal customers, and recommendations for improving the clientกs market position, all to be delivered with 30 days. Clients know in advance exactly what they are paying and what they will get for it.

When buying your services in a package, the client runs less risk. They don’t have to worry about cost overruns or getting an unexpected result. They know how soon the result they are paying for will be delivered. Thereกs also an emotional comfort factor in buying a package. Purchasing something with a name attached makes it feel much more tangible than simply buying hours.

For you, offering a package helps you get your foot in the door. Once you show a client what you are capable of, more business will often result. Even if you price your package at slightly less than what you would earn for working the same amount of time at an hourly rate, you will probably profit more because more of your time will ultimately be sold.

Many consultants find that fixedprice contracts are much more profitable than working by the hour. In a survey quoted by the late Howard Shenson in ‘the Contract & FeeSetting Guide for Consultants & Professionals,ก consultants working exclusively on a fixedprice basis had 87% higher profits than those working on a daily or hourly basis.

To determine which of your services would be best to turn into a product, consider what your target market most often wants from you. Is there a specific set of steps you usually follow when first working with a new client? Activities that you perform repetitively with many people give you an opportunity to create templates, worksheets, and other tools that you develop only once and use over and over. This effectively allows you to charge for the same work more than once.

Be sure to spend some time on coining a unique name for your product. You want a memorable resultsoriented name that will help you to stand out from the competition, and perhaps even allow you to trademark it.

To launch your first product, you may not need to do much more than develop a standard format for what you are already doing, set a price, and name your new invention. Taking this critical step toward making your services more tangible can result in easier sales, more repeat business, and more profitable engagements.

How Can YOU Succeed Online?

How Can YOU Succeed Online?

by: Steve MacLellan

Every place you look online there is somebody tell you how you can get rich. All you need to do is follow a few simple steps…

It reminds of the TV commercial I saw where folks were attending a seminar. The speaker was full of zest and enthusiasm and he said:

กLook… itกs easy. You want to be a millionaire, all you need to do is save $100,000 per year. Do that for JUST 10 years and you are millionaire before you know it.ก

Iกd like to see a show of hands now! How many people do you know learned how to run before they learned how to crawl? I don’t see any hands.

How many people do you know that claim they will be RICH by this time next year… but are still currently working a job? Oh… see a couple of hands there. But for the most part, your friends that think this, are keeping their dreams to themselves. They may believe it, but they don’t believe it enough to be able to tell you about it. Itกs called กpipe dreams.ก

What do you think would be a realistic goal for the average person to achieve by marketing online?

Letกs think about your present income.

I know… youกd like to make more, everybody would…

But you can SEE by way of your employment, you making X number of dollars per month. Thatกs not too hard to visualize. You don’t need someone to tell you how to make $50,0000 per year if you are already making it. So it is a given. You can make $50,000 per year, and you are used to making it.

If you choose another field to work in, you can still make $50,000 per year.

There are ways to increase this so you can make more, but for now letกs look at an example of two different sales people I know who sell the exact same thing.

She was used to making $1200 per month. So when she quit her job and started working for herseld, she made $1100 per month.

He was used to making $3700 per month. So when he quit his job and started working for himself (the exact same thing) he wasn’t happy unless he was making $4100 per month.

Yes, yes… we could go into psychological reasoning, but Iกm not a psychologist. This is the norm for REAL people. Yes you can learn to overcome this mental barrier, but you’re not going to do it when you’re first out of the gate. Learn to replace your current income, before moving on to a higher income bracket.

This… isn’t soooo hard to do. Like eating an elephant! One bite at a time.

Here is the thing most people have a problem with…

What are you doing right now to make $50,000 per year?

Work?

Right! What do you suppose you’re going to have to do to earn the same amount of money working for yourself?

Acck! …and they said it would be easy. It is… all you have to do is save $100,000 per year;)

People you will never hear about are using the web to live their dreams. They aren’t rich, they aren’t famous, and you don’t know them and will never hear about them.

Glenn quit his teaching job last year. He replaced his income by playing in 5 different musical bands plus has employees that setup in small clubs and do Karaoke gigs for him. He doesn’t have a website. He uses a mailing list to keep the folks who hire him informed of his openings and specials. This keeps his name fresh on their minds.

A Carpenter and teacher (married couple) quit their jobs to rent cottages. Using traditional advertising and Internet marketing they had their cottages full by the second year. Internet marketing was responsible for 3540% of the bookings they received that year.

Harry runs a local directory for the county. He has businesses paying him to be listed on his website.

These are all people who were SERIOUS about wanting to replace their incomes, and they did, using a combination of offline, and online marketing. This is a sensible approach to using the Internet. Sure, most the stories you hear, are about how people have made fortunes. It is newsworthy, and of course the exception to the rule. We get bombarded with similar stories so much so that IF you hear John Smith finally replaced his income from a job he hated for 17 years, no one listens; no one cares. I bet John does though.

The Marketing Person You Think You Aren’t

The Marketing Person You Think You Aren’t

by: Beth Woodward

Have you thought about starting your own business? Have you started one and are having challenges with marketing, fear of failure, fear of success…I could go on and on. Has the question, Now what? ever entered your mind? If so, I would like to share my story with you. A journey, from corporate to business owner and everything in between.

After working in the corporate field for 25 years, an opportunity presented itself to start my own business, to work out of my home. I found a fulfilling profession in personal and business coaching. I love working with others helping them to achieve a better life for themselves. Although it was my choice to develop my own business, I did not have the marketing experience and desire I needed to build that client base. The truth is, I disliked (kind word) marketing, I didn’t want to sell and I knew I didn’t have what it takes to achieve this part of my business…or thought I didn’t have what it takes. The fact is, if I had a dollar for every time I said, กIกm not a marketing person,ก I wouldn’t have to market my business; Iกd be set for life.

I did the typical routine of sending some letters of introduction to my friends and business acquaintances, giving away sample coaching sessions and making a few calls that felt safe. I even put a few ads in the paper. I soon came to the reality that the phone was not going to ring and people were not going to approach me while I was sitting comfortably at my desk. Then a turning point came while I was standing in my office one afternoon. I realized I just wasn’t a person that could be an independent business owner what was I thinking that I could do this? I decided I should quit and go back to an office job. At that moment I heard a voice; it was very clear. กIf you quit before youกve given it 100% you will be very disappointed in yourself for the rest of your life.ก

I thought Iกd give it one more try. How was I going to do this? I asked myself two basic questions. What did I need and what did I want? The answers I received were simple. I needed movement and I wanted color. At that point that was all I knew. I decided to trust that these answers would forward my direction in marketing and building my business. About one week later I drove past a juggling academy in Burnsville MN. Color, movement I signed up. I started with a juggling class, networked with friends and business peers and developed a monthly call with other business owners about กmanifestingก what you desire. I started looking at me; what made me tick, what energized me and when was I at my best. This became a time period of selfdiscovery. I had been so tied up in who I thought I wasn’t, I had forgotten who I was; a great team player, a great partner, the queen of brainstorming and resource extraordinaire. I thrived from the energy of others to help build my business. I needed diversity to keep things interesting and took a look at what really interested me. What were my strengths and what made me unique? I also looked at what was giving me energy and what was taking my energy. I decided to cut loose a part of my business that was draining rather than energizing. About 2 weeks later กMarketing On The Playground™ก was born. I had created the space for what was supposed to come in by releasing what wasn’t working.

About 1½ years have passed since I allowed myself this selfdiscovery time and gave myself permission to market my business กmy wayก. My business has blossomed into: 1) writing a booklet, กMarketing On The Playground™ก 2) developing playshops and teleclasses to help others struggling with marketing their business 3) creating retreats for entrepreneurs that need time to get away and develop their ideas.

Hereกs the bottom line. Discover what works for you. It should be an extension of your own strengths, passions and uniqueness. You have chosen to be in your own business; that took guts, passion and a desire for making a better life for yourself. Tell me again why you don’t think you have what it takes to market your business? If you have passions, interests, the strength, and I do mean strength to step into this world and set your own course, you have what it takes to market your business. Now, itกs just a matter of finding what works for you.

What was my secret for overcoming obstacles? ‘trueก belief. Belief so strong that you are willing to stand up and overcome anything and everything that challenges your vision.

A Few Marketing Tips:

Give yourself กpermissionก to follow your own style as an extension of yourself.

Network and Market Through Your Strengths, Your Passions and Your Uniqueness.

Trust Yourself You are the only one who has Your own unique talent to market Your business.

Look at whatกs working and whatกs not If itกs not working do you need to cut it loose?

Believe in Yourself, and กBeก Yourself.

Internet Marketing

Internet Marketing

by: David Kunstek

Is internet marketing something for you? Do you dream about working at home where your kids are, where you feel you should be? Internet marketing can promise this and so much more. But, tread lightly and do your research before jumping into the world of Internet marketing.

While many people feel that internet marketing is all a scam, simply stated, this is false. There are quality companies and quality business plans that are proven. Likewise, there are just as many and even more that are not worth your time or the expense. To understand the differences you need to take the time to research and then decide if the company is right for you. First, you should understand that in most internet marketing endeavors, you will own your own business. You are not working for someone else, which is a nice bonus, but it can be a downfall to many. There are extra expenses that you personally need to take on. You need to keep yourself motivated to do a good job on a daily basis.

If you believe you can handle these simple things in internet marketing, then you can start your search for a company to work with. There are many. It will take you a good amount of time to decide which one is right for you. Do you want to sell products? Do you know enough to sell software? Can you see yourself promoting your business online, over the phone, in your neighborhood, and to your family and friends? Look into the businessกs history. Do they have a long background with a proven track record? If itกs a ground floor opportunity, can you trust and believe in it enough to make it successful? Is the business a member of the Better Business Bureau? What about others who have done the business, what do they have to say? Will they provide training, materials, or anything else that is needed?

Once you combine all of this information, it is only then that you can and should decide on an Internet marketing company. While there are definitely advantages to working an internet marketing business from home, never kid yourself that it won’t be hard work all the way. But, by doing this basic amount of research and gathering this information, you can trust that the internet marketing business you take on is the right one for you.

5 Stress Reducing Computer Tips

5 Stress Reducing Computer Tips

by: Sharron Senter

For most entrepreneurs computers are an intrical part of our business. An entrepreneur can not afford for their computer to be inoperable even for a minute. Implement some of these quick and affordable computer tips to keep your computer healthy and making money for your business.

#1 Double Internet Speed

Comcast recently doubled cable modem download speeds. Now you can surf the Internet and download files twice as fast. However, you need to power cycle your cable modem [unplug it for 30 seconds and reboot computer] for the new configuration to be automatically downloaded to your modem.

#2 Connecting to Work from Home

Having trouble with your corporate VPN connection when working from home? Oftentimes this can be fixed with a simple firmware upgrade to your network router or a slight change in settings.

#3 Sudden Lost Connection

Has your Internet connection suddenly stopped working? Frequently computer users with softwarebased firewalls suddenly find their Internet connection no longer available. Oftentimes when you download a software update, it can change your original configurations. As a quick test, disable the software firewall. If connectivity returns, it’s a misconfiguration issue.

#4 Slow Email and Internet Browsing

Has your computer been working wonderfully, but suddenly email or Internet browsing is painfully slow? It could be your cable connection went out. And although the connection has returned, your computer and the cable modem may be having difficulty communicating. Try power cycling your modem.

#5 Eliminate Popups

Google offers a free popup blocker with its toolbar. Download the toolbar at www.toolbar.google.com. System requirements: Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later. The popup blocker requires Internet Explorer 5.5 or later.
