7 Ways to Stop กSellingก & Start Building Relation

7 Ways to Stop กSellingก & Start Building Relationships

by: Ari Galper

Sometimes we can all use a friendly reminder to keep us from backsliding into old ways of thinking about selling that lead us down the wrong path with potential clients.

I was inspired to write this article after a few coaching sessions with a client named Michael, who sells a technology solution. Michael had been struggling with a mental block about how to detach from the traditional sales thinking he had learned from oldschool sales กgurusก.

You know who they are. You may even have some of their books or tapes. And you know their sales messages too: กAlways be closing,ก ‘think positive, and youกll overcome all your cold calling fears,ก กAll you need to boost your sales is a few new sales techniques.ก

But all these outdated sales messages fail to address the core issue of how we think about selling. And unless we get to that core, and change it once and for all, weกll go on struggling with the same counterproductive sales behaviors. Weกll go on experiencing the same difficulties and frustrations.

And weกll continue to believe that we’re always just one new sales technique away from the breakthrough we’re looking for.

New Thinking = New Results

Maybe itกs time to take a different approach. Maybe we need to seriously analyze our sales thinking so we can identify why we’re not making more sales. Take a look at the table below and thinkabout your current selling mindset. How would your selling behaviors change if you changed your sales thinking?

Traditional Sales Mindset: Always deliver a strong sales pitch.

New Sales Mindset: Stop the sales pitch and start a conversation.

Traditional Sales Mindset: Your central objective is always to close the sale.

New Sales Mindset: Your central goal is always to discover whether you and your potential client are a good fit.

Traditional Sales Mindset: When you lose a sale, itกs usually at the end of the sales process.

New Sales Mindset: When you lose a sale, itกs usually right at the beginning of the sales process.

Traditional Sales Mindset: Rejection is a normal part of selling.

New Sales Mindset: Sales pressure is the only cause of rejection. Rejection should never happen.

Traditional Sales Mindset: Keep chasing every potential client until you get a yes or a no.

New Sales Mindset: Never chase a potential client youกll only trigger more sales pressure.

Traditional Sales Mindset: When a prospect offers objections, challenge and/or counter them.

New Sales Mindset: When a potential client offers objections, uncover the truth behind them.

Traditional Sales Mindset: If a potential client challenges the value of your product or service, you must defend yourself and explain the value.

New Sales Mindset: Never defend yourself or what you have to offer it only creates more sales pressure.

Letกs take a closer look at these central concepts so you can begin to open up your current sales thinking and become more effective in your selling activities:

1) Stop the sales pitch and start a conversation.

When you call someone, avoid making a minipresentation about yourself, your company, and what you have to offer. Start with an opening conversational phrase that focuses on a specific problem that your product or service solves. If you don’t know what this is, ask your current customers why they purchased your solution. One example of an opening phrase might be, กIกm just calling to see if youกd be open to some different ideas related to lowering the risk of any computer downtime you may be having in your company?ก Notice that you are not pitching your solution with this opening phrase.

2) Your central goal is always to discover whether you and your potential client are a good fit.

Let go of trying to กclose the saleก or กget the appointmentก and you will discover that you don’t have to take responsibility for moving the sales process forward. If you simply focus your conversation on problems that you can help potential clients solve, and if you don’t jump the gun by trying to move the sales process forward, you will find that potential clients will actually bring you into their buying process.

3) When you lose a sale, itกs usually right at the beginning of the sales process.

If you believe that you lose sales because you make a mistake at the end of the process, take a look back at how you began the relationship. Did you start with a presentation? Did you use traditional sales language like, กWe have a solution that I believe you really needก or กOthers in your industry have bought our solution, so you should consider it as wellก?

When you use traditional sales language, potential clients can’t help but label you with the negative stereotype of กsalesperson.ก This makes it almost impossible for them to relate to you from a position of trust. And if trust isn’t established at the outset, honest communication about the problems they’re trying to solve, and how you might be able to help them, becomes impossible too.

4) Sales pressure is the only cause of rejection. Rejection should never happen.

Rejection happens for only one reason: Something you said, as subtle as it might have been, triggered a defensive reaction from your potential client.

Yes, something you said. To eliminate rejection, simply shift your mindset so that you give up the hidden agenda of hoping to make a sale. Instead, everything you say and do should stem from the basic mindset that you are there to help potential clients. This makes you able to ask, กWould you be open to talking about issues you might be having affecting your business?ก

5) Never chase a potential clientyouกll only trigger more sales pressure.

กChasingก potential clients has always been considered normal and necessary, but itกs rooted in the macho selling image that, กIf you don’t keep chasing, it means you’re giving up and that means you’re a failure.ก

This is dead wrong! Instead of chasing potential clients, tell them that you would like to avoid anything that resembles the old catandmouse chasing game by scheduling a time for your next chat.

6) When a potential client offers objections, uncover the truth behind them.

Most traditional sales programs spend a lot of time focusing on กovercoming objections.ก These tactics only put more sales pressure on potential clients and also fail to explore or understand the truth behind what the potential client is saying. When you hear, กWe don’t have the budget,ก กSend me information,ก or กCall me in a few months,ก do you think you’re hearing the truth, or do you suspect that these are polite evasions designed to end the conversation?

Rather than trying to counter objections, you can uncover the truth by replying, ‘thatกs not a problemก no matter what clients are กobjectingก to and then using gentle, dignified language that invites them to reveal the truth about their situation.

7) Never defend yourself or what you have to offer it only creates more sales pressure.

When a potential client says, กWhy should I choose you over your competition?,ก your first, instinctive reaction is probably to start defending your product or service because you want to convince them to buy.

But what do you think goes through your potential clientกs mind at that point?

Something like, ‘this กsalespersonก is trying to sell me on why what they have to offer is better, but I hate feeling as if Iกm being sold.ก Rather than defending yourself, try suggesting that you aren’t going to try to convince them of anything because that would only create sales pressure.

Instead, ask them about the key problems that they are trying to solve, and then explore how your product or service might solve those problems without ever trying to persuade.. Let potential clients feel that they can choose you without feeling กsold.ก

The ขKeyword Relevanceข Myth

The ขKeyword Relevanceข Myth

by: Jim Pryke

You’ve probably heard the standard advice about keywords.. ขFind lots of keywords that are relevant to whatever you’re selling, get lots of traffic, and you’ll make lots of salesข. Sounds sensible, doesn’t it?

Unfortunately, it’s rarely that simple.

To make it clear why that is, let’s start with an extreme example. For a site selling horses, the phrase ขhorse picturesข is clearly relevant. In many ways, it looks like an ideal phrase. It gets quite a lot of searches. There is very little competition in organic listings. You can get very prominent positions for this phrase cheaply on most payperclick search engines. But you are very unlikely to ever sell a horse using the phrase ขhorse pictures.ข

Why doesn’t the phrase ขhorse picturesข generate sales? Because the people who type this phrase into the search engines are either the parents of children who want to look at pictures of horses or the children themselves. In almost every case they have no interest in buying a horse. Worse yet, they have no place to put a horse if they did purchase one. The most persuasive sales copy in the world couldn’t sell these people horses.

The phrase ขhorse picturesข connects you with the wrong person. Many other phrases connect you with the right person, but at a time when they are in the wrong mindset. If you have the right person in the wrong mindset, you will probably fail if you try to bully them into buying. But you can often make sales by leading them into the desired mindset.

How do you change someone’s mindset? It’s often easier than it sounds. Just figure out what the person wants and give them exactly that. Then immediately follow up by offering what you want them to buy.

Continuing with horses, here is an example. Imagine that most of your horses are sold to dressage enthusiasts. Let’s say that the big dressage event is called ขDressage 2005ข (not a real event as far as I know, I’m making it up for this example). Let’s also suppose, for the sake of example, that there were a huge number of searches last year for the phrase ขdressage 2004 scheduleข, so you have very strong reasons to expect a lot of searches for ขdressage 2005 scheduleข.

In order to convert a reasonable percentage of the people who search for ขdressage 2005 scheduleข into buyers, you need to create a landing page on your site that features the schedule of events for ขDressage 2005ข very prominently. Make it as clear and detailed as possible. Immediately below the schedule place a headline that presents your horses for sale as compellingly as possible, and include sales copy and / or pictures to entice visitors to check out your horses. Done properly, this solves your visitor’s problem, frees them to think about other things, creates some small measure of goodwill, and coaxes them to consider your horses for sale.

The easiest sales are made to the right people when they already have the right mindset. Phrases like ขbuy horsesข and ขhorse pricesข can put cash in your pockets, but if your market is competitive, it will be hard to get good listings in organic searches and expensive to buy them in payperclick listings.

If you master the subtle art of adjusting the mindset of your visitors, you can make money in almost any market.

Did You Know Your MindSet IS Your Problem?

Did You Know Your MindSet IS Your Problem?

How To Save Yourself From The Pits of Marketing Cyber Hell!

กYour MindSet IS Your Problem!ก

Did you know that the one major thing that stands between You and Success is Your Mind Set? Yes it is true. Sometimes our กOwn Stinkinก Thinkinกก gets in the way of our Success, or our ability to achieve success. Try as we may, we just can’t get any further ahead than we were yesterday. Frankly we have been so use to failure in our lives that failure is all we seem to attract. But it doesn’t have to be this way!!!

So then WHY was I not able to prosper, why was I living in poverty? Because of my OWN MindSet, I was so use to it that I expected it all the time. This cycle can be broken. Now, the first step to accomplish this is the One Step that a lot of people do not pay that much attention to, yet it is one of the most important aspects of true wealth. I am talking about the mental aspect of true wealth. Hang on! I know you are tired of listening to the same psychology song over and over. Do not worry! The mental aspect of true wealth is actually very simple and easy to apply.

It is actually like a list of steps that you have to กget into your mindก before we really get to apply the กMind Set Changeก that I have been talking about so much. Once you know all these steps and are ready to apply them, then you will really be ready to start the journey. Please! Do not disregard this section thinking that you do not need any mental preparation. YOU DO!! It is very important!

Here are three กkeysก to success:

Timing: Being at the right place at the right time.

Having Vision: Seeing potential in what is being presented. Having the ability to see success.

Taking Action: Going one step further than the rest. Doing instead of saying.

Those three กkeysก are essential to recognize success, and to make it a part of your life.

Once you have made the decision to ‘take Action,ก your next task would be to follow what I call ‘the Ten Steps To Changing your MindSetก As I said before, they are very simple, but extremely important if your purpose is to achieve true wealth.

Isn’t it time to Save Yourself from the Pits of Marketing Cyber Hell?

From Stutterer to Network Marketer to Motivator

กEach failure is a stepping stone to Success, which in turn will become a very long and lovely stone walkway into the castle of your DREAMS!ก

My name is John Di Lemme. I would like to thank you very much for taking the time to review my story! I am going to tell you who I am and how I will empower you to change your vision about your future forever. I will share with you how I went from a stutterer for over 24 years of my life to a world renowned motivational speaker, author and mentor to the millionaires. My goal is to help you do the same…live your DREAMS!

I was born on November 5, 1965 in Yonkers, New York. My parents are Philip and Mary Ann Di Lemme to whom I owe all my success. At a very young age my parents instilled within me the foundation for life long success…to be honest and work smart. My parents and grandparents raised me with the mindset that you and ONLY you are responsible for how your life turns out. If you want to achieve a goal, then you need to go do it! Throughout my early years, I worked in my family business, the art gallery. My grandfather showed me that you must work hard everyday if you expect to win in the game that he called LIFE. While attending grammar school, I worked every afternoon for $5 and a lesson in life.

My parents believed in private education for all their children. I attended a private high school and went on to graduate with top honors with a degree in management from Mercy College in 1987. Throughout my formal schooling, I often thought to myself that all I was learning in school was discipline and knowledge of topics that I would never use. Upon graduation, I went into the family business which was and is very prosperous to this day. Despite my success as a top honor student and expertise in the art gallery business, I was still a stutterer. After hundreds of hours of speech lessons and many trips to various specialists, I was not able to break through my handicap.

By early 1990, after working fulltime for several years in our art gallery business, my entrepreneurial blood began to really flow. I was looking for a challenge in life, because I knew that the only way that anyone grows is by being challenged to achieve. I began to look around for another business endeavor to broaden my horizons. In March of 1990, I was introduced to the industry of direct sales along with the world of personal selfdevelopment, which I had never heard of before in my life. It was the introduction to the world of personal selfdevelopment that empowered me to break through the 24yearold handicap of stuttering and forge forward to live my dreams. The basis of my free teleclasses, training series, writings and live speaking events are founded upon dreams that are trapped inside all of us and the keys to live those dreams.

After conquering my fears, I personally built sales organizations consisting of more than 25,000 people in over 10 countries and achieved all of my personal goals that I had set at that time. As a result of these experiences, I discovered that my personal passion in life is helping others to believe in themselves and achieve their goals and dreams. Now, I share all that I have learned as a result of the hardships, challenges, and successes that I have personally experienced. My trainings are full of inspirational and motivational true stories, which are the basis for life. I am believer in being a storyteller to really get a point across! You will hear some of my audio samplings on the site, and I am confident that they will empower and inspire you! Through various methods, systems and ideas, I will assist you in moving to the next level in your life/career.

I firmly believe that after you listen to or experience one of my live events, teleseminars or other motivational materials, you will be introduced to at least one idea that will give you some new enlightening concepts to live your dreams and enable you to win the game of LIFE!

The Wealthy Mindset

The Wealthy Mindset

by: Dinar P. WiriaAtmadja

What is the difference between wealthy people and poor (even average) people? It is not all the money that wealthy people have and the average don’t, nor the luxury, nor the lifestyle. It is their mindset.

A few lucky people have won a lot of money and become wealthy overnight but in short time many of them have returned to their prior financial condition too soon. There is no trace of all the riches they have once won. Very few of them can stay wealthy long enough to actually improve their quality of life.

Why? Because it is not the money and the luxurious lifestyle that make people wealthy. It is their mindset.

Real wealthy people act differently upon the big cash they can get their hands on and upon everything else pertaining money and possession. And this is because they think differently from most average people in the first place.

Let’s think this through and discuss the way average people think…

As soon as they can get their hands on a big fat check, average people would almost immediately go shopping. Buy the latest model car, luxurious home, or spend it on renovation, onceinalifetime luxurious vacation… blah blah blah.

They think that in order to really become wealthy, they have to possess all the stuff that wealthy people would have, travel to places wealthy people would go to, drive the cars wealthy people would drive or live in big mansions where wealthy people would live.

Real wealthy people can afford all the above simply because they have higher purchasing power. Most of us, on the other hand, would think that by having all those above we just might be considered as ‘wealthy’. We tend to think that to become wealthy we have to ‘act’ or ‘live’ like those who in reality are.

Ironically, the fact is to become wealthy we have to ‘think’ like real wealthy people.

Once again I must say that it’s the mindset that makes people wealthy. It’s neither their possessions nor what they spend their money on.

Most of us go shopping while holding on to this principle: Buy now, struggle later.

When wealthy people go shopping they think: Delay it now, invest the money, and have all you want later on! They embrace delayed gratification.

Generally, too soon, the average people would end up in debt due to their principles of immediate gratification. And in most cases their debt worsens. Car loans, furniture loans, education loans, home loans, credit cards… and who knows what else.

As the story continuous, I believe, it becomes more and more familiar to the vast majority: In order to pay off all the debts, they become slaves of their own jobs after they realised that they had been ขslaves of their own debtข for some time.

To them, a job becomes a necessity as opposed to a choice. It is chosen based on how big the salary is to pay off their debt, instead of on the satisfaction the job provides.

Can these people retire early? No. In fact, they wouldn’t even dare to think about it! They are too deep in debt to quit and to just come and go almost at will.

On the other hand, not only do the wealthy know the negatives of being in a debt, they also know precisely the advantages of being debtfree. By being debtfree, they have more money to save.

The more money wealthy people have, the more they can invest in their own businesses. Exactly these businesses are their assets that generate lifelong passive income for them. True wealthy people have known

for decades that having traditional jobs would NEVER make them rich. It would make their bosses rich for sure but there is no way acquiring real wealth merely by trading time for money.

Can business owners retire early? Yes. Having your own business means having passive income for life (more likely even longer than that). If you work consistently on growing your business, you will come to a point where your passive income exceeds your daily living cost.

If this happens, you can choose when to work, where to work or what. Your choice of jobs will not be limited by how much money they provide. Moreover, a job for you would be more of a choice than a necessity. Even if you chose not to work, you would still have money coming in from your business.

This is what real freedom is and this is exactly how wealthy people think!

Ironically, I have met some people who sneer at the idea of investing in a business. For some reason they think that people who are interested in investing must be so much in love with money, or even slaves of it.

Most average people think that business owners must have become wealthy by the drive of their greedy, selfish minds. They tend to think that business owners must be slaves to their money and riches that they could actually have riches so abundantly now.

The truth is their mindset is exactly the opposite.

Exactly because of UNSELFISH reasons, business owners set up their businesses in the first place.

By having their own businesses which generate passive income for them, they have quality time to spend with their loved ones.

They are not too busy to go to their daughter’s first dance recital or to show up at his son’s birthday party.

They are not too busy to spend a oneweek holiday with their spouse. They are not too busy (nor too broke) to be involved in voluntary social work.

The average traditional worker, on the other hand, would not be able to just go and have a holiday anytime he pleases. He has a too tight schedule to come to his daughter’s dance recital or his son’s 6th birthday party. And, hey, he’s too busy (and too broke) to do voluntary social work! He needs jobs that pay well and social works just won’t do.

Well, who is the selfish one now?

Most importantly, because the businesses wealthy people own generate passive income not only throughout their lives but also throughout the lives of their children and grandchildren, business owners prove themselves even more UNSELFISH than the average people do.

People with typical jobs will either retire broke or die poor, leaving their families with nothing (if not with their remaining debt).

By having the right mindset, you will not only be able to have abundant riches, but also a great chance to live abundantly: do all the things that provide satisfaction, spend quality time with you family and friends, and have all the time and money to voluntarily help other people and make your part of the world a better place to live.

Above all, having the right mindset will give you a chance to care and provide for your family even after you leave this planet.

Are you ready to adopt the wealthy mindset?

The Right Mindset : Key To Success In Online Busin

The Right Mindset : Key To Success In Online Business

by: Arun Pal Singh

Today we are going to discuss a very important requirement to succeed in online business. In fact it is the important and essential ingredient of any successful venture. It becomes more relevant in running an online business because of the nature of the business involved. It is the most talked about and discussed element yet poorly understood and often neglected.

It is called MINDSET.

Every work you do will bring the desired outcome if you have the right mindset. The mindset to succeed and achieve.

What is a mindset?

It is the continuous state of mind filled with vibrant energy that entrusts success or failure.

Every great achievement is first achieved in the mind. You cannot achieve what your mind cannot conceive.

Before you jump to conclusion let me put a divider between the occasional wishful thinking and the mindset.

An idea is a force which when nurtured and cultivated would channelize the events to initiate the process of achievement. An idea might erupt from an occasional thinking. But that would be the end of that. You might build an empire on idea but you need to achieve what the idea perceives.

The mind is the source of that energy which will channelize the events. You have an idea and you are firm that it will work. When you have the right mindset you will believe that you can make it work. It is the belief in your self which differentiates the mindset as altogether a different entity from the occasional thinking.

It is because you can achieve only what you have achieved in the mind. It seems like a paradox but it is not.. Whatever you do your success cannot go beyond the ceiling that you have put on your mind. There are so many people in the world who dream of becoming rich but will never do. It is because of their mindset. The ceiling which they have put upon themselves will never let them to be.

Say you want to earn a million dollars. What do you need for that? First and foremost is the conviction that you can actually make the million dollars. How you are going to make it is the different issue. There are numerous possible ways. But first you need to be convinced that you actually will make those millions. When you are convinced you can actually feel like you have the millions. No I am not talking about some megalomania here. But the state where you can imagine being like a millionaire. It is a state where you almost can palpate the successful you in spite of whatever your financial position now is. You are no more doubtful of your success. Yes! The actual happening will take time but you have grown out of your imposed ceiling. That is the foremost requirement.

That state is the mindset. It will determine your actions to achieve the outcome of million dollars. As you move into the venture that will bring the harvest the mindset is further strengthened. More you are convinced sharper will be your vision and the actions.

Everything follows when you have the right mindset.

Meta Tags – These are very important especially the title and description tags which can give your rankings a major boost. Some search engines don’t consider them that relevant , but still use them.

Optimization The vast majority of websites on the Net are not properly optimized for the search engines. When your site is optimized ,you are sure to see a boost in your rankings.Make this a vital part of your marketing campaign.

Link Popularity With link popularity , your website will stand out more in the crowd.Almost every search engine especially Google use this as a part of their ranking system. The trick is to try to get quality links from similar sites to yours.Finding these websites may be difficult but well worth the effort.

Mindset This is IT , The big one !!.Without the proper mindset , all your marketing efforts will not amount to much. You have to deeply believe that there is someone bigger than you looking out for you.And you must believe in yourself and your ability to succeed. When you can do this, then you are on the road to success.

Thatกs it !! These strategies have help me to market the very first website I built to # 1 in several search engines.Apply them to your online marketing campaign today and see for yourself.

To your success and mine…..
