Offline Promotions For Your Home Business

Offline Promotions For Your Home Business

by: Dirk Wagner

Promoting your home business is obviously one of the most important aspects in terms of becoming successful. The internet is full of opportunities where you can advertise your business. But, what about offline advertising?

Offline advertising is often one of the most overlooked ways of advertising for internet based home businesses. Let’s examine some ways you can use offline promotions to better advertise your home business.

Create Flyers

This is a great way to get the family involved in your home business! Using your computer, you can create attractive looking flyers that you can get your kids or spouse to help you hand out at the local mall, post on billboards at the shopping market or place on car windshields in parking lots. You just have to be creative. This is a very inexpensive form of advertising for your home business, and can be fun when you get the family involved.

Business Cards

This is a relatively cheap way of promoting your home business. You can find companies that can make your custom business cards for you, for very little money. Some companies I have dealt with will give as many as 250 free (excluding shipping charges), the only draw backs are they use the back of your cards to put there own business logo and usually the selection is limited compared to paid or premium business cards. Still a very good way to promote. You can leave your business cards around for people to find, leave a stack by payphones, in restaurants, in mailings to your customers. You can even save more money creating your own business cards with your home computer.

Bumper stickers/TShirts

Another very inexpensive way to promote your home business offline is by making up bumper stickers and/or tshirts. This is a great way to get the word out about your product and/or service. Just give them away to everyone that wants one.

Calendars

These are great to give away as free gifts to potential customers. Other promotional items may include coffee mugs, key chains, magnets, pens, etc.

Sponsorship

Sponsor a youth athletic team, or give away free prizes at a golf tournament. Every organization is looking for sponsorship of some sort, create a plan of what you are willing to do to sponsor a organization.

Media

Using the media is a great way to promote. If you can afford it, doing a radio or television spot can bring in a ton of potential clients to your product and/or service. Classified ads in your daily newspaper is also a great way to promote your business. You may also consider sending out a press release to the editor of your newspaper about your home business.

Direct Mail

You can purchase or rent mailing lists to send out promotional material about your product and/or service.

Networking

Unless you never leave the house, networking within your community is a great way to let other’s know about your business. You can join in community groups, chamber of commerce, kids school functions etc.

Word of Mouth

Still one of the best ways to let it be known that you have your own business. Talk about your business and website as often as you can. Encourage other family members and clients to do the same.

There are many ways to advertise your home business both online and off. For best results you really should be using both forms to advertising.

3 Simple But Powerful OffLine Advertising Strateg

3 Simple But Powerful OffLine Advertising Strategies

by: Al Martinovic

There are several ways to advertise and get the word out about your business online and the best of them include free search engines, pay per click search engines, writing articles, utilizing press releases, doing joint ventures/ad coops, and posting to message boards and forums related to your target market.
But one advertising method thatกs neglected by most online marketers is offline advertising.
There are several low/no cost ways to advertise offline and I want to share 3 of them with you.
1) Business Cards
If you are serious about your business you must have business cards. They are cheap and are a great way to attract potential prospects or customers. Simply hand them out to people who you feel may be interested in your business.
Also, whenever I visit a restaraunt, bar, or club, Iกll leave my business cards in all of the bathroom stalls. (Just make sure nobody is in there of course… lol!)
And don’t laugh at this! It really works. When I visit the bathroom an hour or two later, Iกll find that all of my business cards are gone and Iกll have a fresh new set of sales the very next day.
You can get free professional looking business cards at VistaPrint.com, all you have to pay is shipping and handling:
http://www.vistaprint.com
2) Flyers
With todayกs technology, flyers are very easy to make. You can simply design a flyer online and just print it out and make copies. Then you can post them in area businesses where you feel your potential customers may hang out. (Just make sure you ask permission from the business owner.)
Or simply hand out your flyers to people you meet on the street. Many bars and clubs don’t have a problem with posting flyers in their establishments either, especially if you are a patron.
And don’t forget about supermarkets! Many have bulletin boards, at least here in New Jersey where I live, and you can post your flyer there. There are hundreds of people walking into supermarkets everyday and they are in a buying mentality. Take advantage of it and post your flyers often.
Hereกs a site that lets you create and print flyers or brochures online for free:
http://www.mybrochuremaker.com/
3) Automobile Advertising
What… ? Yes you read that right! Your car is not only a driving vehicle but a great advertising vehicle as well. You can stick magnetic signs or plates on your car with your company name and/or domain name for all to see.
Your business can be exposed to hundreds, if not thousands of people everyday whether your car is parked, you are driving, or even when you are stuck in traffic. Itกs fairly inexpensive and a great way to กdriveก home your message.
Here are a couple of sites to check out for this very sort of thing:
http://www.iditplates.net
http://www.magneticsigns.com
Those are just a few of the ways to advertise offline. Iกm sure you can come up with other clever ways as well.
Youกve got a brain… use it!

Offline Promotion For Tourism Business

Offline Promotion For Tourism Business

This artilces has 6 part. Click here if you want to read all: http://www.tourisminternetmarketing.com/offline_promotion/tourism_offline_promotion_davidkan1.htm

Part 1

No business can survive the long run without some form of consistent advertising. As advertising result, most business owners will eventually consider using advertising to promote their business.

Online parties are hot right now. The internet is hot, getting hotter, and the same person that may no pick up the phone to call you for your services, can’t wait to check out your website and see what you are offering before they check in.

Although we focus on internet marketing for our tourism business, but remember that no matter how many prospects are online, they still spend the majority of their time offline, so how you can attract that target market where they spend most of their time… offline? Therefore, a part of your online marketing strategy is…offline marketing, in order to find that offline traffic and getting them to our website.

In fact, on many occasions, advertising website marketing budget can be spent just as effectively using offline method as it can be using online methods. Offline marketing method provides a cost effective way to gain new customers, and website branding seems to be much more successful using offline method such as TV and Radio.

OK you’ve ready to do some offline promotion for your website. What’s next?

Think about the ขwhyข. Why do you want to promote offline? Do you want to make sale? Or do you want people to visit you site? Personally, I think getting people to your site is going to be the most realistic objective of most offline promoters.

Think creatively. You’ve known why you are doing it. Now how can you get your URL out to the offline masses in a creative way? Before read the next part of this article, try to build your own list!

Think cheaply. Look for low cost or no cost ways to promote your website offline. They are out there.

Online and offline must be integrated for maximum effect.

Online + Offline = Complete Traffic Building Effort!

Now, we will go across all the helpful techniques which is being used successfully by different tourism – related business in their website offline promotion strategy.

How to choose a Domain Name for offline promotion

Your URL is maybe is most important one demands to promote. The basic rule behind any offline promotion campaign for your website is, of course to get your website visited more often and if your sale message is good enough to get more sales from these extra visitors. This can only be done by getting the address of your site ขout thereข and visible to lots and lots of people. It’s for the reason that your URL is very important, it’s your core ingredient in the offline world, and the amount of exposure it receives will make or break your offline campaign.

Alan is the lead developer for InfoServe Media, LLC (www.infoservemedia.com), a Web development company that specializes in Web site design, hosting, domain name registration, and promotion for small businesses.

ขTo begin with, there are two main classes of domain names, gTLDs (general Top Level Domains) and ccTLDs (country code Top Level Domains).

The seven original gTLDs are .com, .net, .org, .mil, .edu, .gov, and .int. As of the writing of this article, seven new gTLDs are in the process of being launched by ICANN, the governing body of TLDs. They are .aero, .biz, .coop, .info, .museum, .name, and .pro.

The gTLDs were developed to represent specific types of entities, such as commercial organizations (.com), educational institutions (.edu), or cooperatives (.coop).

The ccTLDs were developed to represent entities from specific regions, such as the United States (.us), France (.fr), or Japan (.jp).

In most cases, if you find the right registrar, you can register a domain name with any extension, no matter why you need the name or where you are based.

Does this mean you should though? Unless you need to protect your intellectual property rights in a name, probably not. The best choice by far is a good solid กdot comก.

Why? Because people are familiar with it, and itกs what people associate most with Internet addresses. This is very important in offline advertising, because if a potential customer sees your Web address, he or she will likely have to remember that address when itกs time to pull up the old Web browser to visit the site.

So generally speaking, a domain name ending in .com is most desirable for offline advertising.

Several other important issues to consider are the domain name length, use of hyphens in the domain name, and the nameกs overall ‘readabilityก.

The domain name length can have a direct impact on how effective that name is at driving traffic to a site. As you can probably imagine, the fewer the characters in a domain name, the better.

The use of hyphens in a domain name can have a negative impact on a nameกs effectiveness, so they should be avoided if offline advertising is planned. A nameกs readability should also be taken into consideration when planning offline promotions.

Do the words run together confusingly?

Are the letters positioned in such a way that the name might be misread? If so, capitalization can be used in print to eliminate some of the confusion.

So what if youกve already registered a name and you find another name that you think would work better for offline advertising? Thatกs simple. Register the new name, and get your host to set up an กaliasก that will direct any traffic the new address receives to your existing Web siteข.

One thing we must consider is: our website should have a banner (a standard 468×60 or larger banner works best) at the top of every page with your website address clearly visible on it.

The reason behind it is that many prospect prefer to print out larger web pages with your tour itinerary, services list, helpful guidelines and soon…and read them later and then keep them for reference rather than read them online as they’re surfing.

They will do the same thing with other website of your competitors, so they often have a list op printed pares to do the comparison. Without your URL on your banner people may reread your content but seldom revisit your website due to them simply forgetting the website address and you may have lost a customer.

You can see my www.tourisminternetmarketing.com banner as a good example.

Use Events to Market on the Internet

Use Events to Market on the Internet

by: Garland Coulson

Having difficulty knowing what to offer people online? Worried that your prospects are too bombarded by sales pitches to pick yours out from the hundreds they get every day?
Try something different – an event!
Events have a number of benefits over standard marketing approaches. Some of these benefits include:

Events are perceived as informational and are often more accepted than sales pitches.
Events generate a sense of urgency as they are scheduled on a certain date with a registration deadline.
By sending an event email, you can reach people’s inbox, a place they look at nearly every day. With a web site, people have to remember to visit.
Regularly changing events give people a reason to come back to your web site.
Regardless of whether the event is held online or offline, an event can offer a better opportunity to build relationships than email, mail, phone or a web site visit.

Building your list
To market your events well, it is important that you regularly build a list of people interested in what you offer and the events you create.
Make sure your web site invites visitors to sign up for your newsletter and event schedule. Ensure each contact with a client or prospect ends with an invitation to join your mailing list.
You can easily manage your subscriber system, send broadcasts and create professional looking invitation, event schedules and newsletters using an affordable service like Constant Contact.
Tips for promoting an offline event
Here are some tips for promoting your offline event:

Be sure to tell people the benefits of attending.
Offer something interesting to get them to come out.
Include the address, time, contact info for more information and how to register (if required)
Provide a link to a map so they can easily find it.
Include a ขrefer a friendข link so they can pass the invitation on to others.

Tips for promoting and holding an online event.

You can hold online web conferences or other events using a system like Voice Café. Voice Café lets you bring people together with audio, video and PowerPoint presentation capabilities.
If you are using a web conferencing system, try to get people to log in early and test the system. This will ensure they get the best experience from your event.
Find web sites and newsletters that reach your target market and post or advertise your event in them. A free place you can advertise events online is The Ryze Network. The Ryze Network is an online community of over 20,000 people that lets you participate in discussion groups, connect with others and list events.

Event ideas
Here are a few ideas for your events, whether they are online or offline.

Offer contests and door prizes
Have a guest speaker or a way that people can connect with experts
Offer ขhow toข demonstrations
Open houses and customer appreciation days
Free food is often a draw. Or unique food – I used to go to an ethnic festival primarily to try the different foods, even though the food wasn’t free.
Provide information and resources
Entertain – Include hypnotists, magicians, clowns, singers, dancers, etc.
Inspire – Offer inspiration speakers and stories
Let them network – One unexpected benefit of my both my offline and online courses is that my students meet each other and often start doing business with each other or form strategic partnerships.

So add some urgency to your marketing – schedule and promote a memorable event!

How To Effectively Use Offline Advertising To Buil

How To Effectively Use Offline Advertising To Build Your Online Business

by: Jeff Schuman

First of all let me say that having spent the past 20 years working closely with small businesses I know exactly what works when it comes to offline advertising.

What I have found today is that online businesses have a built in advantage when it comes to promoting their business offline. You already have a website and autoresponder in place to lead your prospect to. When you combine that fact along with the traditional capture methods of telephone and snail mail there is no reason any online business can’t use offline methods to build their businesses and sell their products and services.

A lot of online based businesses forget about offline advertising. I know I have. It is important to combine offline and online advertising together in your marketing campaign. This will give you to a more well rounded approach to promoting as well as attract potential prospects and customers you might not otherwise get.

In all your offline advertising you want to include your web site address, email or autoresponder addresses, and your phone number and mailing address. This gives you the appearance of a real bonafide business.

Another thing is to start selling products for manufacturers who offer coop advertising for promoting their products. You can read a little more about this technique in an article I wrote titled กWhy Are You Wasting Free Advertising Money?ก

http://sitesplus.com/articles/article2.html

Finally you need to view offline marketing as a long term committment. Iกve seen businesses over and over run and ad not get the response they were looking for and quit.

This will not work offline. Or online for that matter. You need to establish a budget and stick to it. That doesn’t mean that you can’t change the ad copy if your response is marginal. It just means if you are going to run classified ads for example that you run them for a period of time and allow them to do their job.

Here are 10 offline marketing ideas. Use as many of these as possible to move your business forward.

Classified Newspaper Ads Place classified ads in newspapers. Local newspapers often have great advertising rates that you can take advantage of to promote your business. Hereกs a great source for running classified ads.

http://www.nationwideadvertising.com

Put up flyers. They could be in computer stores, libraries, restaurants, car windshields, or anywhere you shop that allows flyers.

Direct mail. A nice direct mail piece when done consistently over a period of time can bring tremendous exposure for your business. The biggest benefit of direct mail is it allows you to reach thousands of people at a bulk mail rate. You could not do this if you had to mail each piece individually.

Buy time on local cable T.V. It is surprisingly affordable and if you commit to a block of advertising you can develop Top Of Mind Awareness. TOMA is being there when they want or need you. If you are an affiliate or in an MLM consider doing group advertising and spreading the cost out over several of you. You can have leads routed into one phone number and divied out to all advertisers or have each ad display a different phone number.

Pass out your CDROM or diskette business cards at special events. It could be at trade shows, seminars, fairs, etc.

Get 250 free business cards here and leave them everywhere you go.

http://www.vistaprint.com

Hold a free offline class and teach people how to use their computer or how to use the internet. You could have your web site on display as an example.

Give away promotional items such as free mouse pads. Put your advertising on the mouse pads and give them away at computer or internet events.

Advertise in card decks. The card deck you advertise in should be targeted toward internet users.

You would also want to target your offline advertising to groups of people that will actually be interested in your product or service. If you’re selling business books, you will want to market to business owners.

In conclusion, if you have a business thatกs only based online using offline advertising to make money online is a great idea because so many people today go online to get information about products and services they are interested in.

Creative Offline Website Marketing Techniques

Creative Offline Website Marketing Techniques

by: Adam Senour

Although the vast majority of website traffic is the direct result of search engines, there are many offline marketing techniques that can be used to draw customers to your website. The examples listed below are but a few ways in which you can market your online presence to an offline audience in an inexpensive manner. Some of the examples listed below even can be implemented at no extra cost!
Some of these ideas are fairly common, but some are rather unique and I personally have only ever seen them employed once, twice, or at most 3 times.
But why would I want to do this? I already deal with these people offline.
Most businesses are not open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Most websites, however, are available on a 24/7/365 basis.
Many people, especially those with busy lifestyles, tend to use the Internet during nonbusiness hours. To give a few examples: business owners will often check their emails and visit suppliersก websites later in the evening; and consumers looking to make a highvalue purchase, such as a car or house, will often research their purchases online in advance well into the wee hours of the night.
Some of these techniques will also generate new clients as well; the possibility exists that you will attract a client whom you have had no prior dealings with.
If you employ some of the offline marketing techniques listed below, it could very well be your site and company that they deal with first!
Include your website and email address on your business cards and other print marketing material. While this may seem rather obvious, most businesses do not elect to do so, and it usually ends up costing them potential revenue and profits as a result. Let people know you have a method where you can be reached and information on your companyกs products and services can be found at any time.
Use your company vehicle as a กbillboardก. Automotive decals are a relatively inexpensive way to advertise your companyกs services. Depending on what you want, decals can cost anywhere from approx. $20$200 CDN, and will last until you choose to remove them from your car or truck. The best part is that every time you want to reach a new target market for your advertisement, all you have to do is drive!
Note: there are more expensive decals available, but these are usually combinations of text and artwork. The text portions of the decals tend to be minimal in cost, as they are the simpler elements.
Ask potential offline advertising suppliers for an กad studyก. Some advertising suppliers have a method whereby they will offer the advertiser a sample advertisement or placement as a form of an กeffectivenessก study. In exchange, the advertiser agrees to reveal the full results of his/her marketing campaign to the supplier. This isn’t something that very many companies do, but the few that do are generally suppliers worth dealing with.
Incorporate your website into facetoface conversations and telephone calls. Your customer may be looking for a specific product or service which may be outlined on your website. Guide your customer to that page and let them read the information over, being prepared to answer and ask any questions that may arise from said information.
More Ideas
Press releases. If you have a new product or service, create a กmediaก section for your website that outlines its details and promote the hyperlink via press release to various mass media.
PR Web is an great resource for massbroadcasting a press release to thousands of newspaper, magazine, radio, TV, and similar media managersand itกs free!
Promotional clothing. If your business has กuniformsก or กstaff shirtsก, then including your website hyperlink on these items is a great way to promote your business at no extra charge.
Microsoft takes this concept one step further; every time a user successfully completes their OEM System Builder exam, they ship the user a free Microsoft tshirt via UPS with nothing except for the Microsoft OEM website URL on the back.
Another creative use of this concept is provided by ADAM Web Design client Regional Shows, who used their online logo on the jersey of a kidsก baseball team as a form of sponsorship.
Other promotional items. Pens, mouse pads, coffee mugs, baseball caps, and other such promotional items are great places to include a company website hyperlink.
Outdoor signage/signboards. Catch the attention of people who are driving by your place of business with your website URL along with your company name, phone, fax, and common email (if any). They may be driving by and not have time to stop in and visit your business, but they may visit your website when they have the time to do so to gather more information.
Note: be sure to check with your local municipality to ensure that outdoor signage is in compliance with its bylaws. Some cities and towns do not allow exterior property signage.
A Tattoo. A tattoo? As strange as this may seem, this is something that can be very effective. Body modifications have the unique property of being able to attract the human eye to them, and a website URL tends to stick in oneกs mind as being a rather unique idea for a tattoo. A friend of mine, when she ran a small personal site, used to promote it in exactly this manner.
These ideas should give you a starting point for future offline advertising creativity, as well as give you some ways to see a return on your website investment with very little time, effort or money. Good luck!

Can Media Coverage Build An Online Business? You B

Can Media Coverage Build An Online Business? You Bet It Can!

by: David Leonhardt

As someone with expertise in media relations, Iกve been asked if media coverage and publicity can build an online business. The real question is whether what happens offline really matters online. And the answer is unquestionably, กYes!ก

Here are ten reasons why media coverage can help your online business grow:

Every one of us, even if we spend four to eight hours a day in front of a computer screen in our underwear, still lives in the real world. Our opinions, desires, priorities, and decisions are heavily influenced by television, radio, books, magazines, and newspapers. Every business, online or offline, can benefit from positive media exposure.

Almost no business can afford to be absent from the Internet these days; even a local real estate agent gains a competitive edge from having a web site. By the same token, an online business gains a strong advantage by having an offline presence. Online and offline marketing of all types support each other.

Search engines won’t bring most web site owners business. I just did a Google search for กbooksก, and found about 85.2 million entries. Ninetyfive percent of searchers will likely click on the first two (Amazon.com and BarnesAndNoble.com), most of the others will never get to the second page of the searches. This means that 85,199,990 web site book sellers cannot rely on search engines. How about searching for the word bookstore? Still almost seven million entries, and guess who the top two are?

You can’t cheat the search engines. Try a search for books and carpentry. The odds are much better, with only 106,000 entries. That still means 105,990 web site book sellers will rarely be found. How about books and promotion? Almost two million entries. If a million carpentry book sellers are reading this article, five are smiling. The rest will only smile with an offline presence, such as a great article in their local newspaper or a callin show on a radio station half way across the world.

The media can create interest in your product or service if they feature you as part of an interesting story. Online or offline, thatกs what media coverage does. A good story is gold.

The media is just starting now to wake up to the exciting things happening online. Timing is everything and this is the time.

The media are now working increasingly online. The online and offline worlds are converging more than ever before. Articles that appear in local papers, industry magazines and even commentary on radio broadcasts find themselves on the Internet. That can often mean powerful links to your web site. Publicity offline means promotion online.

If you are running a contest, placing a new interactive program on your site, winning an award, taking donations for a charity or doing anything noteworthy online, it is of interest in the offline world. The media can act as a funnel for people who spend less time than you and I do in front of a computer screen.

In the mainstream media, you are trustworthy. If they see it on TV or in the newspaper, people believe it. (Funny, they SAY they don’t trust the media, but their actions speak louder.) Since web marketing is about relationships and trust (That is your strategy, right?), you can build that relationship with people who are only now getting online or who may not even be online for another couple years. By the time they are ready to buy from you, the relationship has already begun because they have carried your offline credibility (thatกs the biggest value of media coverage) with them onto the Internet.

In the mainstream media, you are real. I know many people who still don’t buy anything online. They simply do not trust someone they cannot see. Sure, you might be honest, but how do they know? You could disappear into the ether tomorrow. While bricksandmortar stores can close just as fast, there is an impression that they are more real and more permanent. You can increase your realness and permanence through a media presence, and thereby increase your customer base.

Media relations is not always easy and not everyone can make it. You have to have something interesting to tell and have a creative way to make it newsworthy. But it is a lowcost way to drive traffic to your web site. And you may not need to get onto the front page of USA Today to succeed. You may simply want a mention in a few niche magazines where your targeted traffic can be found.

So if you don’t like the idea of being a million entries down on a web search, or even 60 entries down, consider a lowcost, effective alternative – the media. With the right angle, media relations and publicity can expand your engine faster than search engines.

Offline Advertising for Online Companies

Offline Advertising for Online Companies

by: Michele Borowsky

The goal of any business should be to reach the most amount of people possible with the right message at the right time and for the right reason. Many people with online companies are missing out completely when all they do is networking, search engine optimization, and some scattered direct mail to small amounts of people.

The majority of consumable dollars, by a very wide margin, are spent offline. The majority of people are spending more than 20 hours per week watching television. The majority of people also spend more than 10 hours per week listening to the radio.

Have you ever heard of companies like eBay, Travelocity, Priceline, or Monster? Sure you have. You may think that the online environment is where you’ve heard about them. Sorry, you and everyone else are aware of these names due to offline advertising and marketing.

Even though your business is much smaller than these, you need to look into and take advantage of offline opportunities. It does not matter what category of business you are in…. you could be in network marketing, business services, giftware, or whatever. Your company can and should benefit from using offline surface exposure media.

Before embarking on any campaign, the business owner needs to know, understand, and specifically define the primary demographic group which comprises their customer profile. Without this, there cannot be an effective plan, which is a necessity for success. The fact is that less than 10% of all contacts a company makes will ever respond. So you could mail out your postcards to 100 select people and you’ll get, on average, less than 10 responses. So how about reaching 150,000 people each week with a radio flight? Or over 400,000 people with an ad in a major daily newspaper.

Think about it. The opportunities are endless and the business potential is limitless. You need to make that commitment to grow your company. Offline advertising for online companies needs to be considered by you and all others in online business. The possibilities are there for the taking.
