Publish a Web Album Using Adobe Photoshop or Macro

Publish a Web Album Using Adobe Photoshop or Macromedia Dreamweaver Part 3

by: Robert Kennedy

So now we have you pile of images looken real good, nicely organized in directories with an index.htm file, nice. Are we ready to publish this on the net? Well, yes…but. There always is a but. Here are a couple of suggestions that will help you enhance your online photo album.

1) Make sure your album (folders and all) are in the correct location with the website contents that you publish from, usually it is best to create a new folder in the root of the domain that will display the photo album online.

2) Fire up your favorite web editing program. In my case it is Dreamweaver so I will use this program as an example. If you are using GoLive, Front Page or any other web editing program you have to equate it to Dreamweaver’s examples.

3) Open the index file. Have a look. If there are any cosmetic changes you want to make do it now. Here is an example of an Adobe Photo album; http://www.weprintcolors.com/screens/screen_ps_photo_album_sample.htm . Here is an example of a Dreamweaver Photo album http://www.weprintcolors.com/screens/screen_dw_photo_album_sample.htm .

4) Open one html page from the ‘pages’ directory. Have a look. This time what you are looking for is ‘Global’ changes that you would like to make. By global changes I mean changes that can be implemented using the ‘find and replace’ feature. Remember that each one of the auto generated webpages is still basic html. The great part about this is the code is consistent, so find and replace is easy. The first find and place is for ‘text’ only. What we are looking for is improper grammaticism such as .gif or .jpeg appearing in the body. Often Photoshop and Dreamweaver will create this automatically unless you turn it off. If not, no biggy we’ll do a find and replace. ‘Find’ the word .gif and replace it with nothing (no value).

5) This one is for the advanced webmaster. Look carefully at an html page within your ‘pages’ directory after you have done your facelift. Create a couple of include files. Plan on placement, sizing, content etc within this page. The reason you may wish to do this is for common footers, banner advertising or any other use you may have to update all files from one. Once you have your webpage figured out, use the find and replace feature again to place your include files.

6) In the photo album created in Dreamweaver You will notice a line of code that reads as follows (in tags) meta httpequiv=กContentTypeก content=’text/html; charset=iso88591ก. You can find and replace this with your Meta tag keywords and description. In Photo shop it looks like this (in tags) META name=กgeneratorก content=กAdobe Photoshop(R) 7.0 Web Photo Galleryก

Once you have completed your photo album employing the above noted tips you are ready for the search engines to crawl your website and understand your subject matter. Here are a couple of examples of photo albums I have built:

Happy photo album building 😉

How To Increase The Link Popularity Of Your Web Si

How To Increase The Link Popularity Of Your Web Site.

by: John Taylor

Link Popularity is the term used to describe how popular your web site is by examining how many other web sites link to it.

For example, if you only had one other web site linking to your site, then your link popularity would be one. In other words link popularity is a measure of how may other sites are willing to กvoteก for your site by adding a link to it.

Is Link Popularity Important?

Yes. Search engines have a hard job when it comes to deciding what search results to return. They attempt to return the most relevant results that are contained in their database. One significant problem that the search engines have is how to decide which web sites are best, which they basically do by calculating both the relevance of a site and its popularity.

To determine relevancy the search engines look at a number of on page factors, such as your title tag, your description and the keyword density. To determine the popularity of your web site they look at how many links point to it. Most search engines work on the assumption that the more links a web site has pointing towards it, the better it must be.

How Do I Check My Link Popularity

You can check your link popularity in a number of ways. You can use the link: command in Google. For example you can type the following in to the Google search box to check which web sites are linking to you. Forexample if I wanted to check the popularity of my own ‘testing

Networking on the Net

Networking on the Net

by: C. J. Hayden

Networking is one of the most effective ways to find clients for any consulting or professional services business. But if you limit your networking to only what you can do in person, youกll be missing out on a huge number of possibilities.

Networking is more than entering a room full of people and exchanging business cards. Itกs creating a pool of contacts with whom you can exchange clients, referrals, resources, ideas, and information. Networking can happen by phone, by mail, over coffee, and increasingly, over the Internet.

The growth of the Internet has created many new ways to network without ever leaving your home or office. Pick a topic, any topic, and there will be multiple web sites and online communities devoted to it. Almost any type of Internet presence offers opportunities for networking.

In your favorite search engine, type the name of your profession or specialty, e.g. กinterior designก or กmarketing communications.ก Or, if you have a clearly defined target market, you can use that, e.g. กbaby boomersก or กbiotechnology.ก Skip the sponsored links or banner ads and focus on the detailed results. What you will find is the following:

Professional Associations & Schools Many association or school sites provide member rosters, resource pages, back issues of newsletters, event calendars, and bulletin boards or discussion lists. Not all of these features will be restricted to members or students.

Resource Sites & Online Communities These include directories of people in the profession, vendors, articles, event calendars, bulletin boards, discussion lists, live chats, and links to even more resource sites.

Publications Magazines and newsletters maintain sites that offer everything from back issues to complete online communities.

Job Postings These may appear on any of the above sites, and often include opportunities for independent professionals, not just those looking for fulltime employment.

Colleagues & Competitors Colleagues and competitors may be exactly the same people, depending on your relationship with them. Their sites will tell you more about them and their work, and may offer many of the same features as resource sites.

Potential Clients Their sites will tell you about the work they do, current and upcoming projects, and even the names of executives and managers.

Also, if you subscribe to an online service offering interactive กchannels,ก like America Online, CompuServe or MSN, there may be an entire area dedicated to your profession or target market. Some of these resources are available to nonmembers as well.

Now, how can you use all this information to network? Here are some of the most common ways:

Bulletin Boards These are web pages where you can view and post questions and comments on a specific subject. Answering a posted question is an excellent way to demonstrate your expertise, become known to the people who frequent the board, and get to know others in your field.

Don’t be overly selfpromotional when posting, just include a signature line at the end of your post, e.g. กIngrid Gustafsson, Nordic Design.ก If you see someone else on the board who you would like to get to know in a collegial way, email them. But never directly approach for business the people you find there. You might find yourself banned from membership.

Discussion Lists These are like bulletin boards, but are emailed to members of the list daily, weekly, or whenever a new posting arrives. When posting to these lists, you can include more information about yourself in a signature box at the end of each email. Keep it short, but include some reason for people to get in touch with you outside the list, such as, กSubscribe to my free newsletter,ก or, กVisit my web site for a free resource guide.ก

In addition to locating discussion lists through search engines as described above, you can find them through online community hosts such as Yahoo Groups or MSN Groups.

Live Chats Many online communities sponsor realtime chats on specific topics. Participating in these chats is an excellent way to meet people interested in the subject being discussed. Chat rooms that require membership are best, because you are more likely to encounter professionals seriously interested in the topic instead of people just looking for a date.

Attending chats featuring a guest speaker can be more valuable than you might think. If you ask a question during one of these, don’t be surprised if people contact you by email during or after the chat to offer you more resources related to your question. You can make exactly the same type of contacts when you are the one who has something to offer.

Articles Notice who is writing them and who is being written about. These people are likely to be leaders in your field, or at least highly visible. That makes them good contacts for you. Send them an email complimenting them on the article and suggesting you get acquainted for mutual benefit. Make a specific suggestion about what you can offer, e.g. referrals or resources.

Others in Your Field These may be colleagues, competitors, vendors, or potential clients. Approach them collegially with ideas about how a relationship could benefit you both, such as exchanging referrals, pooling resources, links on each otherกs web site, or trading endorsements or articles in each otherกs ezine.

If you can’t find a board, list, chat, or site with the exact focus you want, consider starting one of your own. While hosting one of these communities takes time and effort, it will also put you in the center of the network that forms around it instead of on the outskirts.

Printing a Panorama at Home

Printing a Panorama at Home

by: Grannyกs Mettle

When you choose to print your photo panoramastyle yourself, here are a few suggestions to help you:

You can use paper larger than your printer specs

The size of the paper depends on the size of the slot in the printer. For most home printers, this slot is limited to either the letter size width or slightly larger. Nevertheless, you have to take note that the letter size length is not limited though.

What one woman did was to buy a paper large than the standard size specified by her printer, then cut the paper so that the shorter part of the paper may be able to go through the slot of her printer, while keeping the longer edge full length.

There are also unusual paper sizes available in the market. And then just cut whatever size of paper you like. However, you have to check first that you can configure your printer settings to a custom paper size, as well as check that you can load the paper into the printer.

You can choose the software

Adobe Photoshop and JASC PaintShop Pro are software that allows you to increase the physical size of the image without touching the resolution of the master image. There are many more programs available that lets you resize and customize paper sizes.

You can choose the paper type

The best results are made when you use the paper available for your printer. Developers of printers design both the paper and printer to work with each other. So when printing at home, remember to use the paper made for your printer. For photo paper, choose according to paper opacity, the ISO brightness (the level of whiteness when the paper is pure white before printing), and a reputable name.

You can use third party papers, but when you don’t know what will work best with your printer, it is still better to go for your printer’s brand.

You can print in sections

When paper fails, you can do the printing in the most conventional way print in sections. This process can be time consuming and would need a little patience and perseverance. It is also often hard to align the print sections and hide the parts where they are joined. Problems also arise when cutting the image into sections before printing.

But take heart, there are also programs available to help you. Panoramic image printing software like cPicture and PanoPrinter. The former allows you to automatically cut the picture in sections, the sizes of which you can print using cPicture or with another image tool.

The latter, on the other hand, does adjustments, and most importantly, it allows you to print the image across multiple pages. It even provides crop marks, page numbers, among others, to help you cut and join together the sections to create the whole image.

When all else fails, I believe that it’s just time for you to give up and avail of the services of large format digital printing providers nearest you.

How to Use Solo Ads To Make A Small Fortune

How to Use Solo Ads To Make A Small Fortune

by: Anik Singal

Newsletter advertising has been getting a bad rap lately. Around every corner you can find someone complaining about how it doesn’t work. But when you ask them if they’ve tried it, most say no. The others who have, had NO idea what they were doing. Today we’re going to talk about exactly what kind of solo ads sell and what factors are important.

Let’s start by going through the process of publishing a solo ad.

Choose a newsletter/ezine to publish in.

Write the solo ad

Write an effective title

Design the website where your visitors will go…

1. Choose a newsletter/ezine

Extremely important. You must do your best to choose the most targeted group possible. You must choose a ขgoodsizedข list. Also, the group must be responsive.

The best searching technique is to go to the websites in your niche market that are popular and find the links that say ขadvertisingข or ขadvertise with us.ข

It’s normally quite selfexplanatory from there…

I personally recommend going for no newsletter with less than 5,000 members – unless they are extremely targeted and very responsive.

To determine how responsive a group is – ALWAYS ask or look for testimonials from others who have advertised before. If the publisher is unwilling to provide these – don’t waste your time promoting there.

2. Write the Solo Ad

One word – story. That’s the BEST way to sell someone something – tell them a story. Most people are so skeptical now every time they receive an email that the only real way to warm up to them is to tell them a story.

Start talking about how you went from a ขnothingข to having this great success. Or, how you went from not knowing anything about ขsuch and suchข to now becoming an expert.

The next tip is to give them a ขfeelingข of what they are about to learn – *start* to teach them about the topic and then say ขO…to learn the rest, click here.ข

I’ve learned that the best solo ad never sells a thing, it only presells and warms up to the reader. I guess this is where the theory of ขPreSellข prevails.

3. Write an Effective Title

Quite possibly the MOST important part of your entire campaign. Don’t underestimate the readers of the ezine. They *know* when the regular issue comes and when the solo ads come. They’re already skeptical. If you want to catch their eye, you better have a title that really appeals to them.

Here are some good title tips:

Use Numbers ex/ How to Get 2000+ Targeted Visitors A Day instead of ขHow to Get Trafficข

Be Specific – Your title should reveal EXACTLY what you talk about…

Keep It Short – The shorter the title, the more it will be read…

Avoid SPAM words – Don’t use ขFREEข ขMONEYข – These words are turnoffs now…

If you can write an effective title, you’ve one half the battle already!

4. Design the website where your visitors go…

The BIGGEST mistake (in my opinion) is to simply send the traffic to your main site.

I recommend you setup a SEPARATE website for THAT particular ezine. Make that visitor feel as if he/she is VIP for coming in from that newsletter.

Greet them with a ขHey! Glad you could make it from ขINSERT NAME HEREข to our site!

This makes your site more personal and the visitor feels more comfortable reading your message.

A quick tip for your website:

Always talk about the success YOU had with the program you are selling – tell a story and reveal how well YOU did with it. You will see a HUGE increase in sales.

Once again, people want stories and they want storied about YOU.

If you apply these four factors the ขrightข way, you’re bound to do extremely well with Solo Ads. Personally, I make thousands a month selling my consulting service using Solo Ads – so, no one can tell me they don’t work.

One Point Two Billion

One Point Two Billion

by: tony dean

In this surreal world of the internet, anyone, even you, can put your point across to a staggering number of people in every country on the planet.
From political activists to artists and writers, can now find an audience to take notice of them where they could not get much attention in their local community. Their horizons have been dramatically extended, so their work will travel on indefinately with no end in sight as in entering a collosal black hole.
Where does their online work go? Where does it come to a stop? The answer is, it will go on as long as the internet is there. Even after they have no longer maintained a web site, their work can be handed on to other sites, to add content.
There are too, website archive sites who keep copies of websites for people to look at now and in the future. Twenty years from now people will be able to look through archived websites to see what was new then, what were the prices, what the stock market was doing, what writers and artists were putting out, and the list goes on and on. Ideal for a writer in the future.
Not only will people be able to see what was going on, but in some cases will be able to hear what peple had to say, for websites now are using music, video, and sound.
For those aspiring authors, and everyone it has often been said, has a book within them, can write their great work of literature, compile it to an ebook, and pass it around the internet, where it could go the rounds for ever more, long after the author has died. Conventional authors could hardly say that about their hardback or paperback books.
At this moment in time, maybe only 40% to 60% of people in any country log on to the internet every day, but the numbers keep growing every year, and for those wanting to make a living out of the internet, the future potential is enormous.
Consider the Asian market where the internet is fairly new, with China as the next real big explosive market with unlimited potential. Credit cards in China are unheard of, except for an elite minority. To receive payment for anything over the internet you would either, have to wait another 50 years if you want to be paid by credit card, or persuade your Chinese clients to open an internet payment account online with the likes of Stormpay, which is an innovative new company, who will take any form of payment to credit your new account, even cash, or bank check. Stormpay even have กWalkUpก offices around the world in major cities and more are being established where a client can deposit cash to credit their account for use on the internet. Then the client can pay for anything on your site, ebooks, software, music etc., if you also open a Stormpay account for receipt of the credits, all you need to open an account initially, is an email address. Could not be simpler. Credit cards over the internet could be a thing of the past, many people still will not use credit cards over the internet because of hackers, so what better way of secure transactions do you need than a Stormpay account? It gives confidence to your clients who need not hesitate to make a payment, there and then, for whatever type of goods and services you provide.
Consider another aspect of selling to Asia and China in particular. Most of the internet today is based on the English language, but that is not the language they understand in Asia and China. So, to sell to them you would have to make your site multilingual. This could be just a few captions in Asian or Chinese languages together with a button they can click on for web pages in their own language. Or failing that, clicking on a picture of an item on the screen can bring up a voice in their language to explain what it is and how much it costs, and to pay for it, they don’t need a credit card, just click on a link to to Stormpayกs site and sign up for an account and subsequently they can pay for anything on your site instantly. The voice in their own language can be reassuring to the client.
Consider once again, if you intend selling to the vast Chinese population, the enormous potential of this untapped market, if you could only make a single dollar from each one living there, you would be rich beyond your wildest dreams, for the population totals ONE POINT TWO BILLION and still counting.

Choosing A Color Scheme

Choosing A Color Scheme

by: Joanne Glasspoole

When you begin the design of your Web site, one of the first things you need to do is decide on a color scheme. Although choosing colors seems like a relatively easy proposition, itกs not easy at all. In fact, itกs hard.
One of the pluses we have as Web designers is that millions of colors are at our disposal. Unlike the print world, we do not have to pay for each color we use. If we want to use a specific hue of yellow, for example, all we need to know is the hexadecimal code for that particular color.
One of the pitfalls of having millions of colors to pick from is that some people go crazy and use every color imaginable on their Web site. This is a big nono. Not only does it look unprofessional to use 20 different colors on your home page, but depending on the colors you choose, your page may not be readable.
It is extremely important to pick hues that complement each other. You will want to use a background color that contrasts well with the color of your text. People are used to reading black text on a white background. I keep this fact in mind when I design my clientsก Web sites. Although I have never stuck with the black and white color scheme, I try to use a dark font on a light background. It makes for easier reading and a more pleasant experience for my visitors.
Color affects our emotions. For example, the color red makes us hungry. If you’re on a diet, it wouldn’t be a good idea to set your table with a red tablecloth!
Colors like blue and green are cool. Have you noticed in the summertime how sitting in a blue room automatically makes you feel refreshed?
Yellow is a wonderful brightener. It is cheerful and warm like the sun.
When using colors on your Web site, you need to consider the mood you want to create and the audience you are designing for.
If you are designing a Web site for children, red is an excellent color choice, because it attracts the eye and stimulates our metabolism. Red is cheerful and exuberant.
Blue is an excellent choice for a business site because it exudes professionalism, wealth and power.
If you are designing a Web site for a nature group, greens and browns are natural choices because they are colors that are commonly found in the outdoors.
Another important consideration when choosing color schemes is cultural differences. For example, black is the color most commonly associated with mourning in the United States, but in Japan, white symbolizes sorrow. In Malaysia, green is associated with disease, and red symbolizes anger in Indonesia. As you can see by just these three examples, color is interpreted quite differently depending on the country. You must be careful if you don’t want to insult your visitors.
Choosing an appropriate color scheme for your Web site is extremely important. Your color scheme must be carefully considered because the wrong choices could adversely affect your visitorกs experience at your Web site. You only have one chance to make a good impression. Don’t blow it!

Do You Play Hit and Miss With Your Marketing?

Do You Play Hit and Miss With Your Marketing?

by: Denise Hall

Too many online marketers use a กhit and missก marketing approach. By that I mean placing some ads here and there in the hopes of selling something. And itกs the worst possible way to do business.

Why? Because you probably *won’t* do much, if any, business at all. Itกs a fact that people on the Internet *rarely* buy from someone they don’t know. The Internet is a scary place of scams and schemes and ripoffs. Online shoppers are very wary about giving up their credit card information to just anybody.

But if you use the right marketing strategies youกll have a much better chance at succeeding. A *good* product will always sell, but you have to approach your propects correctly or theyกll turn tail and run faster than you can imagine. And they may end up buying from your competition!

This holds true no matter what product or service you’re trying to market online. You can have the best widget in the whole world, but if you turn off your prospects before they’re ready to buy, youกll lose more sales than youกll gain.

Successful marketers use the กwarm กem up first and make the sale laterก approach. They implement many strategies to drive traffic to their website, but if the visitors are leaving without buying anything, they make one final effort to hang on to them for future sales. And 90% of the time it works!

So what is it that they do? Capture their visitors names and email addresses! They offer them something of value for free in exchange for their information.

Offer your visitors a free report or a subscription to your ezine. They’re now a กwarmก market for your product, and once they get to know and trust you theyกll become your customers.

When you run ads using the กhit and missก approach you have just *one* chance to sell your product to each person who clicks on your link. If they don’t buy right then, youกve lost them forever. But when you กwarm upก your prospects first you have a better chance of making sales.

So start warming กem up, already! :~)
