Start process of .eu has started

by: Hans Peter Oswald

The Commission of the EUROPEAN COMMUNITY and EURID, the registry of eudomains, have signed recently the contract about the eudomains.

EURID reports that, the Commission will formally notify ICANN of the selected registry operator allowing official negotiations to commence between EURid and ICANN to put the eudomain into the root servers.

EURid promises to be looking for a fast conclusion to negotiations with ICANN in order to minimise delays in launching .eu. EURid has always declared that it requires 69 months after contractual matters are concluded in order to commence registrations of eudomains, starting with the 4month sunrise period required by the European Commissionกs Public Policy Rules for the eudomain..

EURid tells, that it is currently working on the initial Registration Policy for eudomains to include rules for phased registration (the sunrise period), a Whois policy and Alternative Dispute Resolution for disputes over .eu names. As required under the terms of Regulation 733/2002, which provided the legal framework for eudomains, EURid will be consulting with the European Commission and other relevant parties on this document.

The registration process of eudomains consists of a sunrise and a landrush period.

Sunrise Period

You should send now to http://www.domainregistry.de/eu.html your applications to secure your rights at the new eudomains. The eudomains will be the most important event since the introduction of comdomains.

The Sunrise Period of eudomains will have two phases:

The EU Regulation stipulates that the registry must make a sunrise provision at eudomains to allow those with กprior rightsก to a name to apply for registration of eudomains in advance of beginning general registrations. The PPR states that the sunrise period (phased registration) of eudomains will take place in two phases each lasting two months.

During phase one, public bodies and holders of registered Community or national trademarks will be able to register their names.

During phase 2 those who may register in phase 1 may register their eudomains as well holders of other rights recognised under Community law or the national law of an EU member state. Eudomains registered during the sunrise period must be an exact match for the prior right claimed and documentary evidence must be supplied to proof the right.

Landrush period: First comesfirst serves

Some weeks after the Sunrise Period eudomains goes live and general registrations of eudomains will begin and registration of eudomains will be done on a first come first served basis for any eudomain not taken during the sunrise period.

Affiliate Program Basics

Affiliate Program Basics

by: Albert Hallado

Affiliate Program is a ground floor opportunity. All you have to do is send visitors to your affiliate web site by placing a textlink or banner on your website and receive a commission on each sale, without the complication and expense of selling anything yourself.

Instead, you earn a commission for producing a ransaction. Affiliate programs, also known as Referral Programs, Associate Programs, Profit Sharing Programs or Reseller programs, give affiliates the ability to create an online business selling thousands products and services.

One of the first affiliate programs was run by the mega bookstore, Amazon.com. They still have the largest base of affiliates on the net although they may not be the best affiliate program for many! with over 600,000 web sites being affiliated.

Affiliate programs are generally offered by sites selling goods or services, although some affiliate programs reward other types of transaction such as getting a visitor to sign up for a free newsletter, or a download.

Some affiliate programs pay per lead rather than per sale, in other words, you bring them a prospective customer and they pay a fixed กfinderกs feeก for the chance to market to that customer.

This is a typical arrangement for affiliate programs in the insurance, real estate and credit card industries, for example:

Types of Affiliate Programs

Pay per sale: If you refer a visitor to the online merchantกs site and if visitor makes a purchase you get a percentage of the sale as commission.

Pay per lead: You get paid a onetime fee for generating a lead for the merchant. Usually you get paid $2$5 if the visitor you referred fills out an application.

Pay per click: You get paid for every visitor you send to the online merchant regardless of any sale or purchase. Usually companies pay $0.05 $0.15 per click.

TwoTier: You get commission on direct sales you generate and also you get commission on sales generated by affiliates you recruited. Usually companies pay 25% commission for direct sales and 5% for sales generated by your affiliates.

Bounty: You get a onetime finderกs fee payment for the visitor you referred. You will not get commission on any future purchases that customer makes.

When you join an affiliate program, you will be given a specially formatted URL (Links) that you should use to link to the affiliate providerกs site.

This will enable the affiliate provider to monitor traffic to your site and pay according to the type of affiliate program.

The Benefit of an Affiliate Program

Is that you just need to drive traffic to your affiliate site. Write a few articles and provide a few links.

You don’t need to find or deal with brokers, wholesalers, inventory, process orders, shipping & handling, customer service, tech support, handle returns, warranties, employees, etc

An affiliate doesn’t even have to be present, your site will keep earning money while you’re sick, on vacation, or just doing something else.

Another advantage of being an affiliate, is that you do it from almost anywhere in the world..

How The System Works?

Many affiliate programs pay a commission based on a percentage of the revenue generated by purchases made by visitors coming from your website.

For example; if you’re participating in an affiliate program that offers a 25% commission and you

send a visitor who purchases US$100 worth of products, youกve just earned US$25 in commissions.

The commission rate itself can vary from 20% up to 50%+ in the case of intangible products such as eBooks or website subscriptions.

Affiliate programs vary widely in terms of overall quality, reliability, commission , statistics, the amount of help that the merchant site offers in marketing the products or services it sells, and so on.

By thoroughly understanding an affiliate program, youกll minimize the risk of not getting paid and maximize your potential earnings.

Earn Money From Your WebSite With Affiliate Links

Earn Money From Your WebSite With Affiliate Links

by: Knut Holt

If you have a website with some traffic, you can make money by having links to merchantsก online shops on your site.If someone goes through your links into the shop of the merchant, and buys something, you earn commission from the sale, between 5% and 40% depending on type of merchant. Some merchants also pay for each click or each lead. A lead is a new visitor to the shop that asks for more information or prize offers.

People or companies having these links on their websites, are called affiliates, and the links are called affiliate links. The administrative infrastructure by the merchant that the affiliate register into, in order to get the linking code, is called an affiliate program.

To register into an affiliate program is usually free, and through the program you get freely all you need to make the linking code, to monitor the traffic through your links, and to see what commission you have earned.

An affiliate program is not a MLM program, since the affiliates only earn from sales, leads or clicks.

However, in many programs you can recruit other affiliates and earn some commission from the sales made by the recruited affiliates too.

There are also common networks operated by thirdpart companies where several merchants use a common software and administrative infrastructure to recruit affiliates and monitor the traffic from affiliates. These are called affiliate networks. Both the merchants and potetial affilliates register into the network, and the affiliates can find links to the online shops of hundreds of merchants to use at their website. Examples of affiliate networks are Commission Junction and Clixgalore.

From my experience, the best affiliate programs are for merchants selling althernative health items or items for erotic improvements. I also have good experience with programs in the fields skincare, cosmetics and hobby.

What will work best for you, will however depend upon the kind of traffic you have, and the interests of people visiting your site.

11 Awesome Ways To Explode Your Affiliate Commissi

11 Awesome Ways To Explode Your Affiliate Commission

by: Kusuma Widjaja

1. Start your own affiliate program directory. Join a large number of affiliate programs that go with the theme of your web site and list them all in a directory format on your web site. Then just advertise your free affiliate program directory. You will earn commissions and gain subaffiliates. Plus you could start an affiliaterelated ezine too.

2. Do not drive all your visitors directly to affiliate website, instead send your visitors to your optin page mechanism first before going to your main affiliate website. That way, you can make followup later on and build your own lists so that you can offer another related products or services another day. You can build a massive list in minimum time at http://www.whycity.net/coregistrationservices.html

3. Sell to the people who join your affiliate program. They are more likely to buy your products because they are interested in selling them for the commission. Itกs important to train and support your affiliates so they will know you will be there to help them. Tell them itกs good to write ads about their personal experiences with your product so that it will persuade customers to buy.

4. Participate on web discussion boards. Post your comments, answer other peopleกs questions, and ask your own questions. Include your affiliate text link under each message you post. If they read your message and like it, they may click to see what else you have to offer them.

5. Recruit lots of subaffiliates and make it easy for your them to make sales. Give them proven ads to use, make it easy for prospects to order, provide helpful affiliate statistics, notification of sales, lifetime income, residual income, add their commission by giving part of your commission to them, provide a good tracking system and professional training just like at http://www.whycity.net/nitroknowledge.html, http://www.whycity.net/myaffiliatecenter.html and http://www.whycity.net/nitrowebcasts.html

6. Persuade ezine publishers or webmasters to run your ad for free. Just allow them to join your affiliate program and earn commission on the sales. You could also offer them a freebie, such as the product you’re selling for free, an advertisement in your ezine in return, etc. It also helps to compliment the publishers as well as praising their ezines.

7. Use Online Referral Strategies at http://www.whycity.net/instantreferralsystems.html to get lots of order yourself or subaffiliates order. Referral system can also be a good way to increase your affiliate commissions if you can give incentives to motivate people to refer and tap deep into peopleกs network of friends, family, and associates. They don’t just stop at the occasional, oneoff referral.

8. Write your own affiliate program ads. If all the other affiliates use the same ads you do, that does not give you an edge over your competition. Use a different ad to give yourself an advantage over all the other affiliates. Learn how you can Create Powerful Offers so irresistible for prospects until they buy from you at http://www.whycity.net/powerfuloffers.html

9. Give free email consultations or services to your customers who buy or will buy the product or services through your affiliate link. When you email them back your advice include a small ad or distribute branded affiliates viral marketing tools to use like ebooks or articles for the affiliate products your are selling. Just include your ad somewhere inside them.

10. Email targeted ezines and ask them to do a joint venture with you. Ask them to run your ad and in exchange they would get a percentage of the profits. You would just have to get them to join your affiliate program to be your subaffiliates. To give them better incentive, you could offer them a higher commission than the rest of your normal affiliates by giving part of your affiliate commissions for 2 years.

11. Tell your customers if they refer four customers to your affiliate web site, they will receive a full rebate of their purchase price, cut from your own commission. This will turn one sale into three sales. You could also offer them other things in return for referrals like free ebooks, free software, coupons, discounts, etc.

Finally! Everything you need to make a whole lot more than $100,000 a year with affiliate programs.

How to start a home business.

How to start a home business.

by: Patric Chan

Do you know that it’s possible for a housewife or a ‘onemanshow’ around the world to start a home business for full time income?

It’s possible. And Iกm going to tell you what you need and how to do it.

First you need to get an extra phone line, fax and a computer in your home. This should be different from your existing home phone line or computer. That was easy to get started, wasn’t it?

The secret to start a home business quick and profitable is to be a ‘middle man’ between the prospects and the products or services they are looking for. It’s that simple! Of course you can create your own products or services to sell, but why go through the hassle in the early stages of getting started? By being the ‘middle man’, you can get started immediately.

Then, you have to determine whether you want to be a ‘middle man’ for a product or service oriented business. Both will give you the same benefits. Even if it’s product oriented, you are not be producing it. You are just merely getting it from someone and passing it to the customer. Therefore, you should not have any inventory. However, I’ll prefer to be involved in service oriented home business because it’s less ‘sticky’. Products may have more issues such as delivery, order fulfillment, product return and so on.

Here are 3 ways you can immediately start a home business by being a ‘middle man’ for a service oriented home business:

1. Human Resource ‘Department’

Do you know that many companies are hiring and many people are looking for a job? This is one of the best opportunities that you can get started immediately. It’s low cost, almost zero in cost. Go to all the offices and factories in your city and tell the human resource manager/department that you want to help them find reliable staff. They will have a list of vacancies. Get all the details. Compile it and start announcing to the public what vacancies you have to offer! You can make money from either the company or anyone who gets a job from your help. You decide how much commission you want. If the company already has their own commission scheme, you can just earn from there.

2. Real Estate

Youกd be surprised that many people are actually buying houses each day. And many people are selling houses as well! Don’t believe me? Go to your local real estate dealer’s office and youกll see there are plenty of requests from people wanting to buy or sell houses. You can just be a ‘middle man’ to get the deal. In fact, all real estate agents are ‘middle men’ in reality. You can just tie up with a few real estate agents and negotiate for a commission from them if you help them to get the houses their customers are looking for, or to help their customers to sell off their house.

A few deals a month will land you in big commission checks because houses price can vary from $50,000.00 to $5,000,000.00! However, you do want to set a certain criteria of amount that you will not participate. Example, you might not do any deals below $25,000.00 (or whatever figure you choose) because youกll need to put in the same effort and yet the return is too minimal.

3. Seminar business

Do you see seminars conducted in your city or state? It can be any type of seminars. Doesn’t matter what seminar it is. Pick up your phone and call the seminar organizers. Tell them youกll find participants to fit in their room and ask them how much commission they are willing to pay you per head. If the company is smart, theyกll pay you good commission because they no longer need to invest their money in advertising. And secondly, they cannot lose because they are paying you for results only.

Once you have experience of it, you may even consider engaging your own speaker one day and organize it. This can be your quarter year project for quick, instant cash.

There are so many other ways to start a successful home business. Iกve not even covered on how to start a home business by using the internet (If you want to learn that, go get a copy of ‘5Step System To Make Money Online VCD Package at http://www.sellingonlinesecrets.com ).

So don’t give excuses for yourself that it’s too much work, you need a lot of money to get started, and so on. Those are all excuses you create for yourself because of unconscious fear of failure. Or your own limiting beliefs.

It’s your life. It’s your decision. Sit on it, and there is no way you can expect to start a home business. Start it today, and maybe youกll start making money in a few months and generate a full time income in a year or 6 months.

All the best.

How To Incorporate The Most Powerful Marketing Str

How To Incorporate The Most Powerful Marketing Strategy Ever Invented Quickly And Easily!

by: Shane Kukec

Without a doubt, if you asked me, Shane if there was only 1 marketing strategy that you could use on the Internet, what would it be? Without hesitation I would say joint Ventures. Joint Ventures are easily the most lucrative Marketing Strategy ever invented and if you learn to do it right, will likely be the ONLY marketing strategy you will ever need to use.

A Good Internet Joint Venture is your shortcut to success. It can send you more qualified internet traffic rushing to your site in the shortest amount of time than anything Iกve ever seen! And it can mean bringing your product to market without spending one single penny of your own money!

In itกs simplest form, Joint Ventures have to do with 2 businesses (or more) joining forces to leverage off of each others success, assets and/or expertise. There are hundreds of different variations but let me just give you one simple example:

One variation of a simple type of joint venture partnership used most frequently would be where one business provides a product for sale, the sales message and the product delivery while the other business provides the recommendation for that product to their own list of subscribers/prospects and receiving a commission based on the sales generated through that recommendation.

The benefits are great. You can build your subscriber list, leverage off of your partners infrastructure like using their existing servers, software etc where you don’t have to pay a dime. Even get instant credibility If you pick the right JV partner, you can acquire instant credibility and reputation with their customers and lists. Credibility sells. Let me give you an example, if you created a book on กhow to acquire real estateก, you could certainly make MANY more sales if you JVกd with Donald Trump and put his name on the book as the coauthor, building your reputation and increasing your credibility at the same time. Are you starting to see the incredible power of this strategy?

Now I know that some people may think that Joint Ventures are difficult to do,but if they are telling you this, then I wouldn’t take anything they tell you at face value because they’re either lying to you or don’t understand it themselves.

Let me show you how easy it is. Here’s typically what I do when rolling out a new product. In this example, let’s pretend that I just completed a new ebook on Penny Stock Trading and have setup a web site with an affiliate program. I would go to google, do a search on keywords like กpenny stockก, กpenny stock tradingก, กstock market strategiesก etc..you get the picture. The top sites on the first page are typically your target partnersbecause since they appear on the first page you can bet they have lots of business, traffic, subscribers and customers. I would visit each site to make sure that they are right for my product and then I would first send them a very brief email asking them if they would be interested in marketing my product in exchange for a high commission as an incentive.

Typically in this email you should briefly introduce yourself and your product. Describe your product and the benefits it would offer to their Newsletter subscribers, customers and/or web site visitors. Ask them politely if they wouldn’t mind responding to you asap and provide your contact information if they are interested in marketing your product. Also very important, you need to give them access to this product FOR FREE!..so that they can review the product and feel comfortable about endorsing it. These site owners have spent years building their business, lists and cultivating their lists to be very responsive. Any endorsement they do to their huge lists could mean thousands of dollars in your pocket for very little effort. More than half of them won’t reply. That’s ok, move on it’s a numbers game.

Remember if just one of these super affiliates decides to market your product you’re golden. Once they contact you all you need to do is setup their affiliate account and commission. This will ensure that their commission will be calculated properly when they endorse your product to their list. Just do this over and over again to all of the relevant site owners. Try doing 3 or 4 per day and after a week you’ll have 4 or 5 good JV partners willing to market your product. Within a week you’ll be on your way to making thousands of dollars per month, all for 5 hours worth of work and at NO COST to you. Isn’t that easy?

The great thing about this strategy is that you don’t even need your own product to profit from this strategy and hereกs how. Find someone elseกs product, join their affiliate program (make sure itกs a two tier program), then use my strategy to find super affiliates that would be willing to endorse this product to their list and/or advertise on their HIGH traffic site, then get these Super Affiliates to join the affiliate program under you and you can collect a HUGE amount of 2nd tier commission by having these Super Affiliates do all the advertising for you, AND you can do this over and over. Think of the INCREDIBLE potential!

Thatกs all there is to it.

Choosing The Right Affiliate Program

Choosing The Right Affiliate Program

by: Mal Keenan

Choosing the right affiliate program is vital for your success. We don’t want to end up with lemons, right? It is not advisable to invest time and effort into something that will not yield the best return for the energy expended.

In this lesson, we’re going to learn how to distinguish an excellent affiliate program from a rather mediocre one. Yes, indeed. Not all affiliate programs are created equal. Some are simply better than others. Here are some things you need to think about if you are considering entering the affiliate marketing arena:

* How much is the commission rate being offered by the affiliate program? Ideally, you would want a high commission rate. Who wouldn’t, right? But don’t let this mislead you into thinking that a high commission rate is equal to a good home based business opportunity. An affiliate program that offers 80% commission per successful sale, for example, may also ask you to presell products that aren’t really sellable. What good is an 80% commission then when you won’t have any sales to speak of? So this leads us to our next consideration…

* How sellable is the product? You could always ask for statistics from the affiliate program. Don’t forget that. You could demand to see the sales chart for the past few months, so that you’d know that there are people who are actually willing to purchase the product. We can safely say that an affiliate programs offering high commission rates for very sellable products is an excellent opportunity.

* How credible is the affiliate program? There are many things that should be factored into this consideration. Determine how long the program has been operating. If they have been in existence for a long time with nary a complaint that can be seen, then they must be doing something right! Do a search on Google or online forums to check out other affiliates opinions of your prospective business partner.

* How will you get paid? This may be a little too prospective a thought, but you have to ensure the utmost viability of any money making opportunity. What payment method can you accommodate? Will the affiliate program be able to oblige to such method? If the affiliate program pays its affiliates through PayPal exclusively, for example, and you’re living in a nonPayPal territory, then you might encounter some problems. Ask the affiliate merchant if he could make some considerations for your case. More often than not, he will try to accommodate your request. If he can’t, then your time would be better spent with an affiliate program whose payment you would actually receive.

If the above considerations are all favorable for you, then grab the said opportunity as quickly as you can. Start earning money right away, for time is gold in this business!

In the next article, we’re going to discuss the proper steps you should take in starting out with this type of home based business opportunity.

The Secret Of How I Got GoogleCash For Free With 1

The Secret Of How I Got GoogleCash For Free With 1 Minuteกs Extra Effort.

by: Michael Lever

Hi, my name is Michael and I’m about to share an amazing discovery with you.

Don’t bother scrolling down to see the price. There is none. I am giving you this information free. Why? Because as you are about to discover, the strategy I’m going to teach you is dependent on a growing community of participants who partner to derive winwin outcomes. A bit like online dating services, the more members there are the better the results for all. I therefore encourage you to recommend this strategy to relevant friends and colleagues in your circle of contacts.

Before I explain exactly how I got GoogleCash for free, you need to understand the background of what makes this ingenious purchase strategy work.

The strategy is not specific to GoogleCash. I have simply chosen GoogleCash because it is the product in my testimonial. The strategy can be used for any purchase, and you can purchase from any of your favourite online stores that you normally trust to shop at. The benefit is that you will now be subsidised a cash amount so large that it may even surpass the cost of your purchase, making it absolutely free. The fact that you can purchase anywhere is partly what makes the strategy work.

There are three core things you need to understand about the strategy.

Firstly, the websites you are intending to purchase from do not miss out on any payment. You are not breaching any of their agreements, terms or conditions. In fact, from their perspective you’re a 100% normal customer with all the normal privileges. You will even receive a purchase receipt that may contribute to a tax deduction.

Secondly, there are no losers with this strategy. It is 100% legal and does not involve pyramid schemes, purchasing matrix, or anything of that nature. No scams here. Everybody wins.

Thirdly, you are still receiving the product you want direct from the merchant of your choice. So you can expect the same product quality, customer service, and shipping that you are accustomed to. You’re simply getting what you had already decided to purchase at a massive discount.

ขSo what makes it work?ข

The secret ingredient is a process known as ‘customer reciprocation’ facilitated by a ‘customer acquisition exchange’. Customer reciprocation fundamentally relies on the customer acquisition efforts of merchants, primarily through affiliate programs.

ขConfused? Don’t worry, I was too.ข

Basically, merchants with online stores pay people like you and me sales commission to find them customers. You can join the merchant’s affiliate program generally for free, and commence earning commission as an affiliate marketer immediately. You earn by directing potential customers through a unique web link called a ‘referral URL’. The link identifies you to the merchant so they know that you are the referrer who must be paid commission.

In essence, whenever you are intending to purchase something, there’s an affiliate marketer out there trying to catch your attention and transparently direct you to your chosen merchant through their referral URL. If you purchase something, the affiliate marketer will earn upwards of 50% in commission.

Customer reciprocation is the process of two parties (affiliate marketers) partnering to become each other’s customer. ขI’ll be your customer, if you’ll be mineข. When you want to purchase GoogleCash like I did, why not purchase it through an affiliate marketer who is willing to purchase at one of your affiliated merchants?

ขCan you see the obvious benefit?ข

You will earn an instant commission when your partner purchases from your affiliated merchant. The commission may be more than the cost of GoogleCash or it may be less. But it is beyond doubt an instant subsidy. Your merchants will love you for bringing them a customer, and you’ll have a legally acquired copy of GoogleCash and extra money to use on anything you like.

ขSo where do you find affiliate marketers ready to shop at your merchant’s online store?ข

Affiliate marketers are already seasoned Internet shoppers who’ve overcome the trust hurdle and embraced online purchasing. There are so many around that you need only do a search for anything in Google or MSN to find them fighting over the highest positions in the search results.

The trick is finding someone affiliated with the merchant you intended to shop with, who is intending to purchase from your merchant. (Customer reciprocation).

This is where a ขcustomer acquisition exchangeข comes into play. (See the references at the bottom of this article or search for ขcustomer acquisition exchangeข in your favourite search engine.).

A customer acquisition exchange allows you to manage your portfolio of referral URLs. I am a member of five different affiliate programs even though I only actively market one of them. Whenever you want to purchase something you simply submit your purchase intention (in the form of the merchants website address) to the customer acquisition exchange.

In my case I wanted to purchase from www.googlecash.com. The system immediately commenced searching for affiliate marketers of GoogleCash who had a purchase intention for one of my merchants. This submission process literally took me less than one minute. I received an email containing my exchange partner’s referral URL and proceeded to click on it and was taken to www.googlecash.com, where I purchased my copy.

When I returned to the customer acquisition exchange I noticed that my portfolio showed a sale at one of my affiliated merchants. ขFantasticข, I thought. My commission report from my affiliated merchant revealed that my exchange partner had indeed purchased something. In fact, the commission I earned from the sale totalled $12 more than what GoogleCash cost me. Meaning I got GoogleCash for free and received $12 for my oneminute effort.

So now that you too know this simple norisk strategy, I hope that you will use it to your advantage and derive previously unheard of discounts. I trust that you can see the benefit of recommending customer reciprocation to your peers, because as the community grows there will be more participants partnering rather than viciously competing for new customers.

Regards

How to Use Foreign Currency Rate Fluctuations to Y

How to Use Foreign Currency Rate Fluctuations to Your Advantage as an Affiliate Marketer

by: Rosalind Gardner

When I started affiliate marketing back in early 1998, getting paid in U.S. Dollars was a huge bonus to me as a Canadian resident.

At that time, one US dollar was valued at $1.43 Canadian. By late 2001, the greenback translated into $1.60 Canadian.

Woohoo!

Even if my merchantsก product prices and commission rates remained the same, I got a raise simply by virtue of fluctuating foreign currency rates.

For example, letกs say that one month I sold 100 dating service memberships at $29.95 for a 50% commission and earned $1497.50 US. In January 1998 that $1497.50 was worth $2141.42 Canadian, and by November 2001, it was worth $2396.00 Canadian dollars, or almost $255.00 CAD more than in 1998!

Unfortunately, the U.S. greenback has been slipping steadily against other currencies since early 2002, and on January 14th, it was worth $1.20 CAD.

Using the example above, my $1497.50 USD commission check is only worth $1797.00 CAD in January 2005 a whopping $599.00 LESS than it was worth in late 2001.

Affiliate marketers in many other parts of the world faced the same scenario.

Here are some examples of how the US dollar has been performing against various currencies since early 2002.

British Pound

January 2002 0.698241 GBP

January 2003 0.618284 GBP

January 2004 0.547846 GBP

January 14 0.53124 British Pound

Australian Dollar

January 2002 1.93418 AUD

January 2003 1.71592 AUD

January 2004 1.29591 AUD

January 14 1.30581 Australian Dollar

Euro

January 2002 1.13226 EUR

January 2003 0.941605 EUR

January 2004 0.791328 EUR

January 14 0.75643 Euro

Those are fairly sizeable drops across the board… and a pretty depressing situation for nonU.S.based affiliates who earn their incomes in US dollars.

However, there are a couple of things affiliate marketers can do to protect their affiliate income from these disastrous declines.

The first option is to work about 2535% harder to bolster revenues to 2001 equivalent values.

However, because Iกm basically lazy, working harder is never my first choice.

The second option involves using foreign exchange rate changes to your advantage by selling products offered by merchants located in your own country, priced in your own currency.

For example, although Canadians are less resistant to purchasing in U.S. dollars now that the Canadian dollar is so strong, they still hate to see a $120.00 charge on their credit card for a $100.00 item. Logic aside, something tells you that a buck should be a buck, and anything more feels like a ripoff.

The primary benefit of promoting กlocal merchantsก is to help your visitors save money by reducing shipping costs and eliminating customs duties on goods imported from the U.S. Basically, most of us prefer to shop locally if we can get the same product at the same or lower price.

Your task then is to find merchants that price products and pay their affiliates in your own currency.

That unfortunately is still easier said than done.

The pickings were pretty slim when I searched Google for กCanadianก กaffiliate programsก.

A site that listed itself as a directory of Canadian affiliate programs wasn’t.

Furthermore, most of the Canadian merchants that set Canadian dollar prices on their sites, either pay their affiliates in U.S. dollars, or are affiliated with networks that pay affiliates in US dollars.

U.K. affiliates will have an easier time finding U.K.based merchants that pay in Pounds Sterling.

Hereกs something to watch for if you decide to affiliate with merchants who work in your own currency.

At Commission Junction I discovered that if you promote the Canadian Shopping Channel which sells and pays commission in Canadian dollars, your commissions are first converted to U.S. dollars for CJ?s purposes, then back into to Canadian dollars when they deposit the commissions in your Canadian dollar bank account.

You?d lose money each time the commission went through the exchange process.

To avoid being penalized by currency exchanges before the commission hits your bank, I suggest setting up a separate Commission Junction account just for affiliations with your กlocal merchantsก. Be sure to set the กfunctional currencyก on that account to your countryกs currency.

U.S. affiliates can also take advantage of drops in the U.S. dollar by selling for foreignbased merchants. When or if the U.S. dollar drops, you will actually get a raise on each of those promotions.

Expand your reach by taking advantage of any and all opportunities at home and abroad. It is the WORLDWIDE web after all.

12 Tips For A Successful Affiliate Program

12 Tips For A Successful Affiliate Program

by: Ken Hill

1. Look around at other competing businesses that offer affiliate programs, and think of ways that you can make your affiliate program more attractive.

2. Pay your affiliates well for their efforts.

If you’re thinking about offering a 10% commission for sales of your product and a competing business is paying a 50% commission for referrals, youกll lose affiliates to your competitor.

3. Make your affiliate program more lucrative by offering residual commissions.

This is an excellent choice if you offer a product that is paid for on a residual basis such as webhosting or access to your membership site.

4. Offer lifetime commissions.

Your affiliates will see the power of lifetime commissions, and work hard to promote your business and send you more sales.

5. Make your affiliate program twotier.

Reward your affiliates by giving them a commission on the sales of people they refer to your affiliate program.

6. Don’t leave your affiliates out in the cold.

Provide your affiliates with lots of sales items that they can use to successfully promote your products.

Some items you could offer your affiliates:

ezine ads (sponsor ads, classified ads, 2 liners)

signature file ads

sales letters/solo ads

brandable ebooks

sample recommendations

email courses

your articles that they can reprint with their affiliate URLs in your resource box.

7. Be quick to respond to your affiliatesก emails.

An easy way to lose your affiliates is to not respond to their questions in a timely manner, or to not respond to their emails at all.

It shows that you don’t value them, and since their are tons of other affiliate programs, you would be losing potentially very good affiliates to other businesses.

8. Provide your own tips and advice.

Follow up with your affiliates with tips and strategies that they can use to increase their commissions.

9. Reward your top affiliates with higher commissions and bonuses.

Youกll be able to achieve more sales over the long term because your top affiliates won’t jump to another affiliate program where their efforts are more appreciated.

10. Publish an affiliateกs newsletter.

Your affiliateกs newsletter will help you to share your tips with your affiliates, and keep them going in the right direction.

You could also use your newsletter to keep your top affiliates excited about your program.

Some effective ways to do this are:

Share what your top affiliates do to earn big commission checks.

Showcase their sites and tell why their sites sell.

List your 5 or 10 highest earning affiliates for the month.

11. Track your affiliatesก sales accurately.

Your affiliates will find out if they send you customers and you don’t credit them with their commissions.

Your affiliate program will lose credibility and youกll end up losing your affiliates as word gets around.

12. Participate in affiliate marketing forums.

Share your valuable advice and expertise with the members of the forums you participate in.

Include your signature file that promotes your affiliate program, and always follow the rules of the forums you join.

A Unique Joint Venture Twist: Make Huge Profits Ev

A Unique Joint Venture Twist: Make Huge Profits Even If You Have No Money, No Products, and No List

by: Rick Miller

Would you like to jumpstart your online or offline business without spending a ton of money?

Without a doubt, joint venture marketing is the most powerful secret to making money online or offline.

In its simplest form, you partner with someone else: You either sell their product to your customer base or they sell your product to theirs.

The true power of this lies in the fact that itกs much easier to sell a product to an existing customer, rather than going out and trying to get another customer.

Hereกs the twist:

What if you could use joint venture marketing without having a product, very little money, and little or no customer list?

Letกs see what one of the foremost authorities on joint ventures has to say about this unique use of the joint venture idea …

Marc Goldman is a worldclass authority on joint venture marketing, building a website that ranks in the top 6,000 mostvisited websites. Thatกs quite an accomplishment considering the millions of websites in existence.

Whatกs more important though is that heกs been using joint venture marketing since his first day in business in 1994.

In a recent interview, he offered this simple formula to quickly profit from joint ventures.

(Note: To access Marc Goldmanกs complete audio interview for free, see end of article)

You simply perform the role of a Joint Venture brokeryou bring together partners who can add value to what the other party offers.

For a great online example of this technique, suppose you find a great product on the Internet that you love …

You could hook up the owner with other Internet marketers who have an existing customer base, and get a commission from the sales.

If the product has a twotier affiliate program, you simply sign up as an affiliate. You automatically get commissions from the sales of the marketers you convinced to promote the product (who sign up under you).

If you’re hooking the product owner up with marketers who have a huge customer base, try to negotiate a higher commission than the normal second level commission.

If the product owner currently does not have an affiliate program, simply approach the ownermake a proposal to get a specific commission on any sales from the partners you bring to him.

Having purchased Marcกs Joint Venture Brokering Mastery Seminar, I can testify to the effectiveness of his techniques.

The broker idea works equally well offline …

Just one case in point:

I joined up an owner of three dilapidated rental houses who just wanted to get rid of them with someone who wanted to buy some land to build a gun shop. Each party got what they wanted and, at closing, I received a check for $8,835.92 … definitely a nice commission for only several hoursก work and no money down.

With that in mind, go out today, have your best day ever, and keep your eyes out for people who you can help by bringing them together with someone else who can help them.

Of course, make sure you remember to get your slice of the profits …

ClickBank Link Theft: Is It Really That Bad?

ClickBank Link Theft: Is It Really That Bad?

by: Tim Coulter

If you have visited any of the affiliaterelated websites or read any of the various ebooks about affiliate marketing, you’ve almost certainly seen references to the thorny subject of link theft. Indeed, so contentious is this issue that it is frequently discussed in forums and a whole arsenal of third party weapons has evolved to help defeat it. But is the problem really as serious it is made out to be?
As an affiliate, it is almost impossible to quantify the amount of commission you lose through deliberate link hijacking or other, less malicious, forms of commission losses. You can accurately measure the number of referrals you make to any particular merchant or product and your sales stats will tell you what percentage of these referrals result in sales. But you have no way of knowing how many sales occur in a manner that somehow deprives you of your commission.
Even merchants, who see the other side of the business relationship, can only guess at the true extent of commission losses. When a merchant reviews his overall sales stats he will see two types of sales: those on which an affiliate commission was paid and those for which there is no known affiliate. Within the former group, the majority will derive from genuine affiliate referrals, but a percentage will be the result of link theft. Similarly, within the latter group, a proportion will derive from the merchantกs own promotional efforts and the remainder from other forms of losses, including bypassing. But thatกs as far as the analysis goes. There is no accurate way of isolating link theft from genuine referrals and, likewise, no way to determine the level of other losses disguised as direct sales. Even a merchant who undertakes no active promotion of his own cannot be sure that all of his unattributed sales arise out of referral losses. Some of them may come from unsolicited search engine listings or inbound links from other nonaffiliated websites.
However, an interesting experiment was conducted by Bogdan Ravaru, author of The HTML Security Report, in which he created the conditions necessary to accurately measure link theft. After launching a new software product, using a newly established ClickBank account, he signed himself up as the sole affiliate. By not publicizing his affiliate program, he could be certain that there would be no other legitimate affiliates.
He then used paid advertising to generate a small but rapid influx of web traffic to his sales page. He was pleased with the sales results 13 immediate buyers for his product but was astonished to find that 46% of them were referrals from affiliates other than him. Clearly, 6 of the 13 buyers were already ClickBank affiliates who had used their own affiliate accounts to secure illicit discounts on their purchases.
Of course, this is just one isolated experience. But other marketers have conducted their own trials and tend to agree that the overall rate of commission losses may be as high as 35%. Clearly, the problem is serious enough to have a significant impact on affiliate income.
There is a consensus of opinion among marketers that link theft is worse on products aimed at the online marketing community the suggestion being that marketers are knowledgeable about the affiliate process and thus better able to manipulate it to their advantage. There are also large variations in theft levels between different types of affiliate programs.
Affiliate networks, such as ClickBank, are much more susceptible to hijacking than standalone programs. This is because of the greater statistical likelihood that any given referred prospect will already be a program member. Few prospects would go to the effort of joining a new affiliate program, merely to secure an illicit discount, but many would be tempted by easy savings from an existing program membership.
Before ClickBank introduced its current hoplink procedure, it was possible for a link thief to misappropriate the commission on a purchase, simply by reinvoking the hoplink process using a manually entered URL. The ease with which a dishonest affiliate could ‘type and stealก made it an attractive target for casual thieves.
But this loophole was eliminated as part of a range of security enhancements introduced by ClickBank in August 2002. And referral security was further tightened during the October 2003 upgrade to the hoplink system. Although these measures do not constitute perfect solutions to the ongoing problem of link theft, the progressive enhancement of the referral system is helping to deter the casual hijacker.
Merchants can also play a role in protecting their affiliates against referral losses, both through education and through the use of protective technologies.
A small minority of merchants employs the somewhat drastic step of screening every purchase and validating the referring affiliate (if any) prior to the delivery of the product. The validation occurs in realtime, using a database of registered affiliates. If the referral comes from a known affiliate, the product is delivered in the normal manner. But if the referrer is unknown as would be the case when a link theft occurs the buyer finds herself in the embarrassing position of explaining how the referral occurred. Unfortunately, the technical challenges in implementing and managing such a system with ClickBank are likely to exceed the benefits it would deliver.
If all else fails, the affiliate can take her own steps to protect and survive. The simplest of these involves only minor changes to the HTML code used in the web pages containing referral links and other techniques, including the everpopular link cloaking, are in widespread usage.
But, despite the considerable selection of protective technologies employed by ClickBank, its merchants and their affiliates, none is foolproof. For example, a determined link fraudster can defeat every known defensive system simply by deleting her ClickBank cookie file prior to making a purchase. If an affiliate is sufficiently savvy and committed to gaining an undeserved commission, nothing will stand in her way. Therefore, as with any business problem, we must avoid the temptation to become obsessed with referral security at the expense of our other profitmaking activities.
